The apartment was exactly as described. It was clean, tidy and perfectly laid out for one person or a couple. Superb location 2mins from the beach and 4mins into town, couldn’t be better.
Great place to stay to enjoy the lovely seaside town of Southwold.

Not hotel luxury as described
We arrived to find that the welcome pack consisted of cleaning articles tea sugar coffee that was in a sticky container That’s all We had to go out and find a shop to buy some milk before we could have a hot cup of tea following our journey. Even basic hotels give you tea coffee milk and biscuitsThe bathroom had one ply toilet paper we have better than that at home. There were no sockets near a mirror so hair straightening was very difficult. The ‘wardrobe’ was shared with a vacuum cleaner cot airer the boiler and ironing board more like a cleaners cupboard and what hanging space was left wasn’t high enough to hang a dress. So all in all very disappointing as we thought we had treated ourselves to some luxury. The luxury only really extended to the decor not the care of those stayingWe did report the lack of milk to the owner but they never got back to us .
We had a lovely few days staying at The Blyth apartment. Great location, a few minutes walk from the beach and town. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. Nice cosy bed. As mentioned in some other reviews the sound does carry from the apartment above but luckily it was only occupied for our first night. All in all a very nice stay and so pleased we could bring our little dog.
Good location - parking could be a bit of a problem - seagulls are very loud and mess the cars but on the whole a very pleasant stay in a clean property
What a fabulous location and lovely property. Ground floor flat, spacious living room/kitchen area with view of sea. Very comfortable, warm and finished to high standard. Will definitely be back. Thank you.
Perfect location on a quiet street 2 minutes from the beach. The property was clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for a relaxing break. Lockbox check in was simple and the host gave us all the info we needed.
Only thing to be aware of is the on-street parking is very busy. We couldn't get a spot on the same street at first but moved car when one became available. Wasn't really an issue for us as we didn't use the car after that anyway.
Room thermostat temp control- no documents, rather cold
Lovely property, tastefully furnished, all needs anticipated
We saw some ?sort of welcome tray, but intention of its use not clear - therefore not touched.
A lovely apartment in the perfect location. The beach is at the end of the road with Southwold pier a 5 min walk away. Once we parked the car there was no need to use it again until we came home, enjoying what Southwold had to offer. The Sole Bay Inn is a dog friendly pub about a 5 min walk away, offering very good food.
The apartment is lovely comfortable and well equipped. It is near the sea and the centre of town. You can park outside without fear of charges.
Southwold is charming and friendly with great offering of places for foodies. I recommend an Adnams tour. We did the distillery one but you prefer beer, Adnams is delicious.
We spent most of time walking, visiting things in and out of town and coming and going from the property.
It is a very good place to stay and relax. It gets great reviews because it deserves it.
The positives:
- the apartment is in a perfect location to explore Southwold. A short walk to the beach and high street, but the road itself is quiet with parking right outside.
- the apartment itself is modern and clean
- the bedding is super comfy and soft
The negatives (all minor):
- the listing states check in at 3pm and check out at 11am. This isn’t accurate - they sent us a message asking us to check in at 4 and check out at 10. The new check in time was fine, but we asked to check out at 11 as planned. We were told it was fine, but still had someone knock on our door at 10 on day of check out to ask why we weren’t out yet. I’ll assume this is a miscommunication, but should be fixed.
- the bed looks pretty weak. It bows significantly in the middle and makes some worrying cracking sounds when you move.
- bathroom had a bad musty smell that didn’t clear
- the place would benefit from some basic provisions - there was no tea/coffee, salt/pepper and only half a toilet roll on arrival.
- some sort of privacy screen on multiple windows would be nice, particularly in the bathroom, where the window faces out into the property’s back alley. I’m sure it’s not used often, but whoever does use it would get an eyeful.
- extractor fan was non-functional/had been sealed. This meant we couldn’t make a cooked breakfast without setting off the fire alarm.
All in all, we did have a lovely stay, and the apartment provides a good base to explore Southwold, but there are a few things that prevent this being called a truly “luxury” stay.
On the plus side the apartment is situated in a very convenient location only a few minutes from the seafront with free parking on the street outside. It was clean and well-furnished and was ideal for a short break for the two of us.
On the minus side I would not agree that the property has "fantastic sea views" as you can only just see the sea from one side window in the lounge.
In addition, we found that the apartment felt rather sparse and lacked a few home comforts which we might have expected to find in a similar Southwold rental property. For example, lack of extra blankets, cushions, limited selection of games, books or puzzles, no oven gloves, limited cooking equipment, glasses and crockery, no basic food provisions e.g. salt for cooking and we found only a small amount of pepper, no cleaning items (apart from a bottle of washing up liquid and three dishwasher tablets) no brush and dustpan and only one toilet roll provided! If anyone was planning to stay longer then they would certainly have to come prepared if they were planning on doing any cooking at this apartment and I would advise that you bring your own blankets.
Although this is not related to the quality of the apartment, I have to add that for the first two nights of our three-night stay the people who were staying in the apartment above were extremely noisy and sounded as if they were rearranging the furniture or rolling bowling balls around the floor, until the early hours of the morning. Thank goodness they left before the final night of our stay, so we were able to get some undisturbed sleep.
No welcome pack only a sponge, tea towel and dishwasher tablets.
A few large cobwebs in bathroom . 3 large spiders inhabiting bedroom and bathroom. Bin not emptied in bedroom. Dust on headboard. Other than that the apartment was really nice and within easy reach of the beach and local amenities.
Lovely apartment in a great location…perfect for the beach & walking distance to shops/restaurants. Only disappointing thing was the shower - it needs a pump!
