About the host
Hosted by Suzanna Molony
I am an Australian national with many European connections, particularly in France and GB.I have lived in France for over 6 years and my two children were born in Paris.
I have worked in Senior Management in USA/NYC & Finance & again on relocation to the UK. In addition to a varied career and life, my last (and still) professional work is in Medical Administration.
I and my family have long experience with renting properties, 25+ years, both short term and long term. The most successful and interesting of which was rental over many seasons for the Wimbledon Fortnight to Tennis Officials and the Top-seeded Tennis Players. All very exciting and hugely demanding as a Landlord.
I find that there plenty to occupy oneself, my family and friends with outddoor activities and visits to the museums here in PO and in Spain. In addition, I have friends in the region, both French, Catalan and English speaking and find everyone very welcoming and encouraging. We at the Residence frequently have informal gatherings to discuss how to best look after our guests, exchange advice and information. We can then recommend guests to our friends, knowing they will get the same quality, if our own apartment is already booked for their dates.
I have been renting properties/Gites from other owners (mostly French) for over 40 years in France, so have a good knowledge of 'how it works" I feel.
I can speak reasonable French, though sometimes with an Ozzie accent it has lead to some interesting interpretations!!
I am very keen that the property is well maintained & that guests are impressed and pleased with the quality of the furnishings and equipment. I chose this Residence also due to it's high standards & proximity to many interesting areas. It is considered a 'luxury' Residence according to French standards.

Why they chose this property
It is an unique area of France in that it is at the foothills of the Pyrenees while having some of the best sandy beaches on the French Mediterranean coast.
There is so much to do and so many opportunities to partake in all types of outdoor activities, from water sports to land sports. Many historical monuments, museums, cultural activities, festivals and it is really quite impossible to do them all at one visit.
Most of all, it is the weather. Forecasts are for 300+ days of sunshine a year. No wonder the world's largest solar discs are located in the mountains nearby.
What makes this property unique
The apartment is well located to transport amenities. A local bus to Perpignan is just 4 mins from the door and it is easy to take public transport all the way to the Perpignan Airport on 6 days. The apartment itself is quiet, overlooking the marina/garden so there is not the usual rushing and noise of passing traffic.
It's a great area for families. With many family centred activities.Numerous shops 2 mins walk from the front door.
More activities and shopping than can possibly be explored in one or two stays.
The mountain valleys are spectacular, particularly in Spring, with plenty of walks all levels, also all areas-along seacoasts to mountain peaks. Also the bus can, take you to connect to the Train station at Perpignan to take the TGV to Paris/Barcelona. and via train from Narbonne and Montpelier to connect to many other areas of France/Toulouse Bordeaux etc. There is water, water everywhere, with a large pool, lagoon and sea. Sailors can hire a boat easily and golfers can try out the challenging St Cyprien Golf Course plus others just over the Spanish border. Good daily boat tours down to Spain. There are numerous seafood restaurants and local produce. There is a very good selection of gluten free and vegetarian products in the supermarkets and there really superb 'Bio' shops nearby which cater to those wanting organic products of all types and those on vegetarian/vegan diets.
Best is the wonderful blue skies and mild weather.
There are sheltered areas to explore when it sometimes is windy. Collioure & Ceret are such places. Beaches are best visited in the morning/late afternoon and lovely beach restaurants open all day all along the St Cyprien area, pool is open all day. There are many festivals and events throughout the summer and many free concerts all around/ a Jazz train & little Yellow Train through the high valleys of the Pyrenees-spectacular!
