Star Gazy is in a quiet pedestrian walkway, and there is a private parking space a short walk away, a tremendous bonus in St. Ives.The Porthmeor Beach is just a minutes walk from the cottage, with all the other beaches, cafes and little shops etc within a 5 minute walk. There are two large granite steps leading from the path into the cottage, and once inside there are 6 stairs taking you into the dining room, everything then is on one level. Star Gazy was originally built around 200 years ago as a store for fish, and was converted onto a comfortable 3 bedroom home about 100 years ago. Star Gazy retains several of its original features including stripped floorboards in the dinning room and bedrooms, and beams and exposed granite in the dining room. It is light and airy and overlooks the gardens in The Meadow. Care has been taken in choosing furniture and equipment to make the cottage as quirky and comfortable as possible. A welcome pack containing tea and coffee will be waiting for you, and our housekeeper makes every effort to leave a few items in the cottage for your use, washing up liquid, salt, pepper, hand soap etc. All linen and towels are professionally laundered and included in the price. Beach Towels,Cots, buggies, highchairs, and other equipment may be hired directly from Star Linen St. Ives and will be delivered and collected for you. Local grocers etc are a 2 minute walk away. Supermarkets are on the edge of town.

Great cottage

We had a fantastic week at Star Gazy. The cottage was spacious, light, bright, clean and so well equipped! Location is in a really quiet street but still only a 2 minute walk to Porthmeor beach. We loved wandering down at night and watching the sunset. Outside tap so useful for washing wetsuits. Car park a bonus. We would definitely return.

Sweet cottage near Porthmeor Beach.

This sweet cottage is less than a minute’s walk from the beautiful Porthmeor Beach in St Ives. It has everything you need for a holiday. A real home from home feel too. You can easily get to the shops and, although there isn’t a view of the sea, you can hear the distant sounds of the waves from the beach which is really lovely! The only thing to be aware of is the parking is up a pretty steep road/steps and takes about 5-10 minutes depending on how fit you are and it can be tricky with traffic flow getting in and out of the parking spot. But overall it is a super place, especially if you intend to spend most of your time on the beautiful Porthmeor Beach!

Perfect location right opposite the beach and two minutes from the town. Nice accommodation but could have been cleaner. I found crumbs in my bedroom and dirt between the settee. The accommodation did need updating and a proper deep clean. If your not too particular it’s the ideal accommodation at a good price.,

Great communication from the owner from start to finish. Lovely cottage in a great location, but the steps may be problematic for some. It was great being able to get to the beach in seconds, as well as being able to walk into town so quickly. We didn’t use the car all week.

We had an enjoyable stay at star Gazy Cottage. Sandra’s communication was brilliant from booking to leaving. The location of the property was incredible-just a few feet away from the beach and shops. I do think that maybe the bathroom could do with updating as the shower is very small. But all in all a positive stay. Thank you Sandra.

Perfect Location!

Stargazy is a little gem! Seconds from the beach and minutes from the harbour and town, it really is in the perfect location. Sandra left a lovely welcome bottle of wine and some essentials to get us started and her cottage is both traditional and beautiful. The parking space is a huge bonus too! Half term in St Ives

Cottage was lovely but the steep steps into the property should be highlighted on the main advert as it was tough to get up them with our cases! The actual cottage was lovely and perfect for us as everyone had a bit of space. Central location was fab too. Great shore fishing from Porthmeor Beach. Lovely coastal walks and The Tate and Barbara Hepworth Museum we’re worth a visit.

Delightful cottage

Perfectly located, quaint cosy cottage- very quiet location, a note of caution- stairs up to and into the property are steep. Car parking space is a fair distance from the property and there is a challenging walk to the parking space which in itself is a challenge due to limited space if one owns a bigger car. Bathroom although functional could do with updating (radiator, mirror, shower all rather tatty) this didn’t spoil our stay and we would certainly return here in the future.

Why they chose this property

Our family spent several wonderful holidays in St Ives and in 2002 we made the decision to buy a holiday home of our own. St Ives cafes, beaches and walks are open all year round and we carefully chose Star Gazy for its excellent, quiet, location in the heart of old St. Ives in Down-a-Long, close to the beach and restaurants as our much loved family holiday home.

What makes this property unique

Star Gazy is in a quiet pedestrian lane away from passing traffic yet only 50 meters away from the fantastic beach of Porthmeor, where you can enjoy breakfast in the cafe overlooking the beach. 2 minutes walk along the cobbled Digey takes you to the Harbour, shops, and range of cafes and restaurants.

Star Gazy is an old granite cottage with three bedrooms for up to six people and a baby, but is much enjoyed by couples also as a quiet retreat.
Full central Heating, unlimited hot water, professionally laundered linen, gas, electricity, and WiFi and net-flix are all included in the price. Star Gazy has its own parking space for an average sized family car 10 mins walk away, at the top of Windsor Hill a bonus in busy St Ives.

Off season we offer bargain rates to guests who appreciate the benefits of the quieter months of the year. 3 to 7 night breaks are available between end October and Easter.
