About this property

Gite du Midi is situated in the Hautes Pyrenees in the beautiful Campan valley. Located at the end of our 200 year old renovated farmhouse it offers accommodation for 2-4 people (2 adults and 2 children. In addition a cot can be provided for a third child). The property sits in 1.5 acres and is surrounded by stunning scenery. The gite has its own private terrace , use of six person hot tub and the above ground timber clad swimming pool (summer months only). We are just over 10 minutes drive from La Mongie , part of the largest ski area in the French Pyrenees and the cable car to the magnificent Pic du Midi Observatory. The area offers a wealth of summer and winter mountain activities - downhill and cross country skiing, cycling the famous Tour de France cols including Tourmalet and Aspin, spectacular walks, VTT, horse riding, fishing, paragliding, golfing, rock climbing and much more. We are two minutes drive from the village of Sainte Marie de Campan with its small but well stocked supermarket, two restaurants and bar, boulangerie & pizzeria.

Cosy Hideaway

We spent two enjoyable weeks in the Pyrenees and were very well cared for. The garden is just as wonderful as the pool is. Lots of activities to do nearby which are wonderfully explained by Jane and Tim. The apartment ist well equipped, only the shower is rather small if you’re quite tall :-) If in search for a place that offers a chance to calm down and sooth the soul, it’s a match.

The perfect gite for us!

We had an amazing stay at the Gite du Midi. Cozy and comfortable, the gite is equiped with everything you could need for a relaxing stay. The weather was hot during our stay so the pool was a godsend, as was the hot tub to the cyclist in the family to soothe his aching legs. The location is so peaceful, close to beautiful walks and many famous and challenging moutain passes for cycling, or just driving to take in the spectacular views. Jane and Tim are excellent hosts, so welcoming and only too happy to help out with anything you need and to share their wealth of knowledge of the area. We had the best two weeks and were gutted to leave. Wouldn't hesistate to book here again the next time we visit the area. Thank you Jane and Tim (and little Charlie) for a perfect two weeks. Hope to see you again soon.

Très bien

La maison est très bien équipée et très jolie. L'environnement est très calme et agréable. La piscine et le jacuzzi sont vraiment Top avec vue sur les montagnes. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour chez Jane même si le soleil n'était malheureusement pas avec nous. Les seules 2 petits point négatif seraient la douche un peu petite et le nombre très important de mouche mais cela est surment du au fait qu'on soit à la campagne.

Nous avons passé un merveilleux week-end. Maison bien chauffée, literie 10/10, ( je crois que je n'ai jamais aussi bien dormi de ma vie ) ambiance et paysages sublimes. We (Tim and Jane) realised a 10 year dream when we moved to Sainte Marie de Campan in December 2013. After 30 years with the Metropolitan Police Tim retired in 2012 and we started our house hunt in France. We had holidayed all over France and enjoyed all the different regions but the Hautes Pyrenees has always been our favourite area. We wanted a to find a house with lots of character, in a tranquil setting, near the ski resorts and surrounded by beautiful walks and were so lucky to find a home that ticked all the boxes. Our sons are currently at university in the UK and we're looking forward to their visits in the holidays. Now that we've settled in we're busy discovering the wonderful surrounding walks with our two Border Terriers Eddy and Charlie.
