About Gill and Nick
We are an english couple who left the UK to set up a new way of life in rural France.
Gill and Nick purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Gill and Nick chose Beaumont-du-Périgord
We found and bought a small hamlet in 2010 and after gaining permission to establish a group of holiday cottages, we started the process of renovation the following year. We renovated Mon Coeur cottage first which is advertised on Owners Direct (FR: 19629) and have finished the renovation of Ma Chaleur in 2015.
What makes this Cottage unique
We are proud of the traditional methods and craftsmanship we are using to bring the properties back to their former glory. We hope that the modern luxuries we add, will result in authentic holiday experiences that capture the essence of the Dordogne; whilst treating our guests to the luxuries they would expect from a top hotel.

Idyllic location, very high standard accommodation
The conversion of Ma Chaleur is sympathetic and the interior is maintained to the highest standards with lots of unexpected luxury touches. It is an ideal base to explore the bastides of Villeréal, Montpazier and Monflanquin and the castles toward Sarlat. Very quiet and peaceful - highly recommended.
Peace and luxury...
We spent a long time searching for the ideal cottage for two in this area, and we think we found the perfect one. It is even better than the photos.
It is completely tranquil in the garden which is surrounded by orchards, and shady trees. And the interior is really beautifully renovated with all the luxuries you could want. We will definitely recommend this cottage and will be returning.
Fabulous retreat for two
Having stumbled across Gill & Nick's own website a few years ago Ma Chaleur/Mon Coeur have been on my Wishlist for some time. We recently returned from a weeks stay in Ma Chaleur and I can only say that it has far exceeded my expectations. The thought and care that have gone into the renovations both inside the cottage and outside are fabulous. The photos really don't do it justice and I was surprised that Ma Chaleur and it's garden are much bigger than I had imagined. Everything is there that you would need for your stay with added extras such as lovely Molton Brown products in the bathroom and fluffy bathrobes, there is even a Kitchen Aid food mixer should you feel the need to do some baking....and the fantastic cedar hot tub.
We aren’t strangers to this area so didn’t feel the need to do much exploring, however we did visit the markets at Issigeac and Sarlat which are our favourites. We ate out at Chez Edith in Saint Sabine de Born which was very nice and also at Le Bistrot de la Place in Tremolat which is about a 30 minute drive away but worth it, the food is fabulous.
We will definitely return.
Gorgeous cottage in a beautiful area
Perfect cottage with everything you could need and more! High quality and pristine throughout. Great patio for relaxing. Plenty of places to visit within a 30 min drive. Nearest town is 10 min away with good restaurants and the best patisserie ever.
Ma Chaleur is a wonderful place and can't wait to return - loved it!
Exceeded Our Expectations
The gite is even better than it looks in the photographs, with the rooms being larger than we expected. The owners have given a lot of thought to equipping the cottage for a perfect stay. We particularly appreciated the luxurious touches such as the Molten Brown products, the Nespresso coffee machine and Bose IPod dock. The location is excellent between Beaumont and Issigeac, two beautiful French villages/towns. We would visit again.

Stylish and comfortable cottage.
We had a lovely week in this beautifully renovated cottage. The owners attention to detail was first class and on hand to offer help if needed. The setting is very quiet, perfect to get away from it all and unwind. We loved the outdoor space with hammock and hot tub. Perfect for relaxing. Would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage.
Bergerac airport is just 20 minutes from Mon Coeur cottage. If you decide to fly then it will be essential to hire a car, as the property is very rural and public transport is limited. All the major car hire firms operate from Bergerac airport.
If you decide to drive from the UK, then channel ferries from Portsmouth, Poole and Plymouth sail regularly and the drive down is approx 650km and takes about 7 hours.
Ma Chaleur lies in the centre of four beautiful places.
Villereal is a bastide town 5 minutes to the South of the cottage, and ideal for supplies with shops and supermarket.
Issigeac is a beautiful village just 10 minutes to the West, and has the largest market in the area every Sunday morning.
Beaumont du Perigord is a beautiful bastide town 10 minutes to the north with a cobbled square of cafes and bars.
Monpazier 20 minutes to the East is known as the finest bastide town in France!
Ma Chaleur is centrally placed for all the main tourist attractions in the Dordogne and Lot et Garonne.
The village of Sainte Sabine Born, is a 2 minute drive from the cottage, or a 15 minute stroll. Although small, it has a bakery, pizza parlour and and two very good restaurants:
'Chez Edith', which has a beautiful outside terrace and serves as the local bar, coffee shop and restaurant with great well-priced food, and
'Etincelles', which is a Michelin starred restaurant in the small hotel La Gentilhommiere.
Villereal has a full size supermarket open from 9am to 7pm without closing for lunch, and a Carrefour open till late, and Sunday mornings. There are also plenty of specialist shops in the market square, an exquisite patisserie shop, and a pharmacy. A Saturday morning market sells a large selection of fresh produce - although the market at Issigeac Sunday morning has the largest selection of produce and artisan products in the area. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars at Villereal with outside seating to soak up the sun or recline in the shade. If you have any medical problems, there are also two english speaking doctors.
The cottage is also at the heart of the 'Route des Chateaux', the driving routes around the fairy tale castles of the Dordogne; and is only 25 minutes from the beautiful Chateau Biron, and 45 minutes from the amazing Chateau Bonaguil.
If you would prefer to laze away an afternoon in a canoe or on a boat trip along the Dordogne river then Bergerac is only 20 minutes away. The old town of Bergerac is a great place to eat before the boat trip with some excellent restaurants set within a beautiful collection of mediaeval houses.
The UNESCO heritage site of Les Eysies de Tayac is only 50 minutes from the cottage, and is an acclaimed site of prehistoric rock dwellings and cave paintings.
