Apartment No 10, is a stylish new 2 bedroom air conditioned apartment just meters away from the sea. With a large communal pool and shallow children's pool, it is an ideal base for a family holiday. The outside dining area provides the perfect setting in the evening to enjoy a Mojito or have nice romantic dinners. You can enjoy the tranquility of having sun downers whilst watching the sunset over the Cretan sea !!!
This 1st floor apartment is situated in a small community of elegant villas and apartments, some set in their own private area with a large communal swimming pool, all properties offer traditional features with modern building specifications, creating new, yet rustic dwellings in a peaceful seaside setting.
The apartment has access to common areas with a large communal swimming pools and pathways.
Panormo, the local fishing village is within easy walking distance. The village has great tavernas, several bars, a bakery, butchers, supermarkets and a range of good tourist shops. From most of the tavernas, one can look down over the beautiful village harbour and its stunning sandy beach. This is great if you have children, you can sit in a taverna having lunch while watching the kids swimming and playing on the beach.
The Apartment sleeps up to 5 + cot and has 2 double bedrooms consisting of one double bed and 2 single beds there is also a single sofa bed in the lounge. Comfortable designed furniture and comfortable mattresses make the accommodation functional, fun,
family friendly and suitable for children of all ages.
Unsuitable for people with restricted mobility.
Panormo is a typical example of a Cretan Fishing village. Centrally located on the North coast of the island, 58 km west of Heraklion and only 20 km from Rethymno. Panormo has not been affected by the onslaught of mass tourism. The warm and friendly inhabitants, less 500, still work in the fields, on the small fertile plains, or else are shepherds and fishermen.
Whitewashed buildings gleaming in the mid day sun, a mini-maze of back streets sloping gently down to the small harbor and pretty beaches. There's the traditional village square, with tavernas and Kafenions and the old picturesque houses are being renovated and restored with great elegance. For shopping the village has mini markets, a bakery, butchers, gift shops, jewellery shop, post office, car hire etc.
In and around Panormo you'll find small sandy beaches, some with smooth sun-warmed pebbles, sandy coves, some with shallow waters ideal for children, some with water sports facilities, and fishing, diving etc. There are buses, which go regularly to Rethymno (15 min) or to Heraklion and Chania making Panormo an ideal base to explore many parts of Crete.
For culturally interested outings, you may choose to visit the Monasteries of Arkadi and Preveli, and the world famous Minoan Palace of Knossos. Otherwise you may wish to explore the wilderness wonders of the Samaria Gorge, or simply take time to visit the mountain villages, for example the village of Margarites where traditional pottery and wood carving are still being produced.
Panormos
Rethymnon Town is a 20 minute drive from Panorama Seafront Homes. The Old Fort (Fortezza castle) dominates the town; it was built in 1590 to protect the city from pirate raids and the Turks. Rethymno is smaller than Chania, but is developing quickly. The old town is the place to go with its narrow shop and taverna lined streets that run along and off the water front.
Rethymno is full of charm and can compete with Chania for the title of "Most beautiful city of Crete". The old town streets are full of lovely old traditional stone houses, many are of Venetian origin. There are also Turkish houses and Minarets. Rethymno has a long sandy beach that starts in the town centre and runs eastward. The beach is lined with Palm trees, hotels, restaurants, cocktail bars, cafes and tavernas, plus all the tourist shops one would expect. The town is full of life and energy and eating out under the stars is a pleasure not to be missed.
There are several museums in the town.
Parking is easy. If you head for the town centre and leave your car in the large car park across the road from the towns lovely gardens, just a few metres from an arch way that leads in to the lovely old town with many shops tavernas and bars

About the host
Hosted by Tim Howkins

I have been running my own business for almost 30 years and currently live in Gloucestershire, England. Tracie and I have extensively travelled over the years and still very much look forward to our adventures abroad ! We have children and grand children who we adore dearly. We are looking forward to all of our family, enjoying our new holiday home, for many years to come.
Why they chose this property
We have visited many Greek Islands over the years and 2016 was our first visit to Crete. Needless to say, we absolutely loved it. There is something really quite magical about Crete which we both can not put our finger on ! We came for two weeks and stayed in THIS very apartment and did not want to go home ! As it was for sale, we felt that it was the right time and the right place and therefore, purchased our ' family holiday home '. It has a large Terrace / Balcony that has great views over the pool and breath taking views of the sea. The sunsets are picture postcards.....
What makes this property unique
Panorama Seafront Homes enjoy a superb location, right on the edge of the sea. You have the choice of swimming in the pool or at one of the sandy beaches. We just love the 10-minute evening stroll to enjoy the food in the wonderful traditional tavernas in Panormo village. The apartments were designed by one of Greece's top architects and the interiors are modern and fitted out to a very high standard that you are unlikely to see elsewhere in Crete. As most apartments are privately owned holiday homes, the pool is never over crowded, some days you may get it all to yourself !
We always take a trip by bus, ferry boat or hire car to Rethymno old town where the harbour front is full of life and one can spend hours walking around the narrow lanes, window shopping. There are a great choice of restaurants and lively bars to suit all tastes.
