The Historic Center of Évora was classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. This classification is delimited by the wall "Vauban" built in the seventeenth century and inside it is the "museum-city", which contains 20 centuries of history of the peoples and civilizations that lived in Évora. There are real estate and specific areas of the city that are classified as patrimonial value to protect, such as the facade of our house, included in the list of properties of historical and cultural interest to preserve. Ebora Home is located at Rua dos Mercadores, in a central area of the ancient medieval Jewry of the city of Évora. Between the 14th and 16th centuries, according to historians, this community had a community of about 8,000 people and a series of services such as school, hospital, ritual baths, two synagogues, reading and interpreting bible sites and gafaria. Rua dos Mercadores is already mentioned in the first quarter of the fifteenth century as the Right Street of Merchants (to distinguish it from two other streets also known as Merchants). It was also known as Rua dos Ferreiros or Rua da Ferraria, which reveals the predominant type of economic activity carried out there. The house is family heirloom. It was acquired by my grandfather Joaquim, in 1914, for income. On the first floor two families lived and in the ground floor, where there was always trade and craft workshops, there were at the time 3 small shops: frutaria, grocery store and shoemaker. The building's architectural restoration project, started in 2014, has created two modern apartments in the ground floor, respecting, nevertheless, the structural design and leaving in sight some constructive techniques and traditional materials, namely the vaulted ceilings, crib, set back in perfect arches, the donkey brick, the stonework, etc.
The EBORA HOME The Ebora Home apartment is in the area of the old fruit sale of the beginning of the century. XX, having undergone the necessary functional adaptations for housing. The small well that existed in the store, and in whose diameter only a cauldron fit, was plugged, for safety reasons, Inside the apartment we want to combine the old with the modern in search of a good solution of comfort and functionality. We restored some family furniture, which we completed with: a good sommier, placed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the room, both 1. 40 m wide; a flap table extendable up to 1.80 m; a shelf where we organized some bibliography about the history of Évora, we put a tv and wi-fi. The bathroom, with bathtub, has a heated towel rail, hair dryer and all skin care products. In the kichnet there is: refrigerator, water heater, dishwasher, ceramic glass plate, microwave, toaster, digital scale, electric kettle, magic wand and citrus juicer, plus a train and kitchen services including other basic utensils. At the time of check-in we leave food for guests to have breakfast at home and to assist in some quick meal. The textiles, such as sheets and towels, are pure cotton, there are summer and winter duvets and extra blankets, although the house has an excellent natural climate, given the exceptional thickness of its walls, which allows to keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Also the decorative details are part of the soul of the house and so there are several pieces of local artists and craftsmen who help to humanize space and contextualize it in the local culture. I was very pleased to meet and welcome Trevor to my home. He respected the space and left everything in excellent condition. I would be delighted to host him again!
It was a privilege to stay in this apartment. It’s beautifully maintained with exquisite attention to detail. Luisa makes sure you have everything you could possibly need to be comfortable in this apartment. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the linens are the highest quality, and Luisa even leaves you with a delicious loaf of local bread and a bottle of wine. The apartment is centrally located and when Luisa checked us in she made sure she gave us proper directions to all the points of interest. We could not be happier with our stay and would highly recommend it to any couple going to Evora. I hope I get an opportunity to visit again.

Our hostess was very knowledgeable about the area, and having a parking garage included (a ten minute walk away) was a wonderful bonus. Everything in town is walkable from the apartment, and it is very clean, with high quality linen and towels.
Great apartment for a couple, in a good location to explore Evora. Luisa was a wonderful host, taking the time to tell us about Evora.

The city of Evora is stunning, and our stay was enhanced greatly by this great property. My wife and I stayed here for two nights. The property was spotless, and well appointed. The host, Luisa, was lovely and provided us with great advice on things to do during our stay. Highly recommend this property.

Amazing, historic renovated apartment in a great location. Wonderful host who arranges a parking space and gave us a wonderful orientation to the town and keeps a helpful journal of business cards and guest comments for Evora. Highly recommend.
This is an amazing property, right in the heart of Evora. Louisa is a great host, who provides a personal touch at check in with amazing advice. Just follow her suggestions, and you will have a wonderful time. I would recommend her VRBO apartment anytime.

I was very pleased to meet and welcome Catarina into my home. She respected the space and left everything in excellent condition. I will be very happy to welcome she again.
Very well located inside the medieval walls, one can walk to everything. The interior design is very nice, with a blue and white theme to match the tilework typical of Portugal. This space has everything you need! And Luisa was very helpful in answering our questions. We’d stay here again for sure.

Excellent place for a short stay. Luisa is a host who really cares about looking after her guests. It's a few minutes walk to the main square and 15 minutes to larger local supermarkets. The bus station is about 10 minutes.

I was very pleased to receive Tony and Bev as they are very friendly, polite and understanding. They left the apartment very tidy and clean and for that I recommend them as hostedes and I will be very pleased to receive them again when they return to Évora.
The property was as described and located ''inside'' the walled area of Évora as advertised.
We used the underground parking offered and, although it is a 5 to 10 min walk away, it was very convenient.

This apartment retains the charm and character of the old city while providing all modern conveniences. The location is perfect for easy access to the major sites but has close proximity to parking outside the walls. The apartment is immaculate and fully supplied for a comfortable stay. This is a wonderful selection for your vacation stay in Evora.

We completely enjoyed our stay at Luisa's apartment. It is compact but very comfortable. She has thought of everything. We wanted for nothing! Kitchen area is small but fully equipped. Luisa is helpful and informative, and she is a great booster for her city. Parking is in a nearby garage which is safe and convenient
gbbooster for her city.

Danny stayed in the apartment for a week and they took good care of the house. They already know Évora well from other visits and that was very interesting!
This is a lovely, thoughtfully appointed apartment that makes excellent use of a small space. It's filled with personal touches that make it feel like a home, not just a rental apartment. We appreciated the personal welcome from Luisa, who shared the history of the apartment, showed us where we might want to go in town, and helped us find a clinic for Covid testing for our return trip. Thanks so much for a lovely stay!

I had great pleasure in meeting and receiving this nice couple in my home. They respected the space and left everything in excellent condition. I recommend them as excellent guests and I will be delighted to welcome them back to my home!
Luisa’s place has two foot thick walls in a very old building (600 years?). It’s very well equipped and decorated. Like a home. Luisa knows Evora intimately and takes time, with a map, to explain the sites to visit as well as the history of the area. It would have been good to spend more time with her. Unfortunately our phone and email chose that time to crash. We found Evora fascinating. Side streets hardly more than a vehicle’s width but used for vehicle traffic. Good restaurants and of course churches to see. Great experience and we would go back.
This one bedroom apartment was extremely well finished with beautiful tile floors and all the amenities you need for a great stay. We unfortunately were late for our arrival time which made our host rush through the check in but that was our fault. Location is great with an easy walk from the bus station and only a short walk to the main square or any of the tourist sites. The apartment had everything you needed with extras like a heated towel rack. Best day was walking out of the walled city along the aqueduct for a couple kilometres and then walking back through the residential neighbourhoods. Also took a three hour tour with Evora Megolithica to see several sites and I would highly recommend this tour. We spent three nights and would definitely stay here again.

This apartment has been beautifully restored with such attention to detail! The sheets and towels are all monogrammed and all the furniture is very comfortable. The location is within the old city walls and a very short walk to most of the sights. We would recommend taking the walking tour through the tourist office. Our host gave us a map and many recommendations-plus a bottle of wine! She was right there when we arrived.
We did not have hot water for showers but i think that was our fault in not understanding how the hot water heater worked. There are many restaurants in easy walking distance. We bought some provisions at a small grocery but limited selection. Larger grocery stores outside of walls.

Dear David, I really appreciate your kindness and the way you maintained the apartment. I will be very happy to recommend you and welcome you again.
I am very sorry about the hot water issue, but you should have warned me, because it was necessary to change the cylinder and the matter would be resolved.
