Why Katie and Matt Buerstetta chose Bangor
Southwest Michigan has always been a big part of my life. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have close family friends with a house on nearby Magician Lake. I spent many summers there and have grown to love the area. When house hunting, we looked at many different lakes in both Michigan and Indiana but Van Auken Lake was our favorite. The lake is partially undeveloped and in a more secluded area. It is peaceful and quiet. Yet the lake is still large enough for boating, water-skiing, and tubing. It is a quick 2 hour drive from Chicago making it the perfect place for a weekend getaway.
What makes this House unique
The house was built in 2008 so everything is modern and up to date. The open floor plan and large kitchen make the house perfect for hosting large crowds. In the morning, you can sit outside on the front porch and watch the sunrise over the lake. Walk outside and you are just feet away from the water. There is a sandy bottom and it is the perfect swimming depth for people of all ages. At night, you can gather around the outdoor fire pit to relax and roast marshmallows. We also have a two story fire place inside which makes the house perfect for winter rentals too!

A very nice house!
An absolute joy. My family and I stayed at Matt and Katie's lake house this summer and it was exactly what we were looking for. The house was beautiful, large, and immaculately clean. It was a family reunion of sorts for us and we had all ages represented from 6 monthes to 65, and we all felt comfortable. My wife loved the decor of the house and said it felt like "our style". It was bright and airy and had the most beautiful views of the lake from two floors. The kids ran around in and out of the house and played their hearts out. They fished off the pier and caught fish everytime they put their little poles in the water. I was on constant fish removal duty. The kitchen was huge and allowed the chefs in the family all the space they needed to cook for the group. Space was definetly not an issue. All in all it was a great trip and as we all packed up on the last day we all stated that we would come back next year. The little ones said can we come back "please, please, please". Coming from Chicagoland, we rent a couple houses every year in Michigan or Wisconsin and this house was up there with one of the best. If your looking to build memories with your kids and family that includes fishing, boating, campfires, but not sacrifice all the creature comforts, this is the place. I really could go on and on about the amenities. Thank you Matt and Katie for being professional and courteous from the get go, you made it easy.
