About this property
Welcome to Tuolumne Cottage
Tuolumne cottage is a cosy countryside cottage tucked away down a single track road surrounded by farmland and the gentle slopes of the Clwydian Mountains. It's very quiet and peaceful, with the peace only being broken by the noises of the surrounding farm animals and yet it is only half an hours drive from the roman city of Chester, the Victorian sea side town of Llandudno, and an hour and half from either Manchester or Liverpool airport making it accessible for all.
The space
A cosy cottage based in the foothills of the Clwydian Mountains. The cottage with its loft conversion sleep 4, with extra put me up beds and travel cot available upon request making the accommodation available for six people plus a baby.
As you enter the building you will be in the fully equipped kitchen; it has a fridge/freezer, microwave, dish washer and gas cooker. There is also a breakfast bar that looks out into a beautiful garden with stunning view of Moel Famau in the distance. The wet room is entered at the end of the kitchen and this has a fantastic rain shower.
From the kitchen another door leads you into a large lounge and dining area, with comfortable sofas and stunning views over the fields to the mountains. In the lounge behind sliding doors you will find the Murphy bed fully equipped with reading lights and cosy bedding. French doors lead to a small private garden with patio area and BBQ, although this is fenced off from the main garden, this can be accessed by a small gate allowing you the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful plants and shrubs.
There are loft stairs (a quirky narrow staircase) leading to a long cosy bedroom with a comfy double bed from where you can lie and look at the stars or pull down the blackout blinds for a long sleep. At the top of the stairs you will find comfy chairs and a small table where you can just sit relax and read your favourite book or one you have borrowed from the bookcase in the lounge.
Guest access
You will have access to the entire cottage, private garden and use of a shared shed. There is also access to the main garden.
Interaction with guests
We will be around most of the time should you need anything and your interaction with us is upto you. There is always a key available at the property for you.
The neighbourhood
We are located down a single track lane with just one set of neighbours who are lovely. There is a very low crime rate and most of the noise comes from the surrounding sheep and cows.
Getting around
Whilst we are situated near to the villages of both Aberwheeler and Bodfari the public transport is limited.
Other things to note
As we do live in the country we do have cats, dogs and chickens however they are not allowed in the cottage and the cottage is totally self contained with a wooden fence to keep the animals in our garden not yours.

Had a fantastic stay here. Hosts were lovely and the property was lovely and secluded, allowing for peaceful evenings after exploring North Wales during the day.
Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
We found the property spacious, clean, well stocked and equipped, struggled to pick something to criticise, maybe a bit more hoover under sofa cushions, very small things like that really. Also, the scenery is stunning, not to mention the cost was very reasonable. Would be happy to stay here again.
Cottage was lovely and immaculate and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Had a few treats left for us when we arrived which was very thoughtful. A very peaceful location
It is a beautifully laid out accommodation with everything you could possibly need for a long or short stay. Wonderful bathroom, lovely kitchen, and beautiful surroundings. Plus the owners are very accommodating - we could not recommend it higher. Thank you
This is the 2nd time staying here. Just myself and the kids come for a wind down and a quiet break away from the busy world.
The cottage is very well equipped for all, and the homely touches are a much appreciated bonus. Communication is faultless and nothing is too much. Already planning on next year's visit

Serenity in the Country
We enjoyed the cottage, but! We should have known that the main bedroom has a very dangerous staircase access. We were not prepared to risk the perilous climb & chose to sleep on the very uncomfortable Tiltaway bed.

We are surprised and hurt to receive such a review. In the description it clearly states there are loft stairs (a quirky narrow staircase) leading upstairs, there is also a photograph showing the staircase. The stairs have been approved by the council and the whole cottage is built in line with the Welsh Government Building Regulations, as we certainly would not want to put any of our guests at risk. When we chatted about the use of the upstairs during your stay, you stated that due to your own personal health issues you didn’t feel safe using them which is different to the stairs being perilous and dangerous. Also had you stated that you found the bed uncomfortable we would have purchased a new mattress or brought over a mattress topper from the house. However we can only make changes if we are made aware of the issues. As such I have already ordered a new mattress. We had assumed as you had spent so much time in the cottage that you were happy to be there. So we can only apologise that this was not the case and wish you safe travels with the rest of your holiday.
Prachtige omgeving!
I give our stay an excellent grade, from our welcoming, to food items provided, how clean the house was, it was a beautiful experience. Jackie and Steve are one of the kindest people we have met in a while. They were absolutely amazing.
The property was in a beautiful part of North Wales surrounded by farm land with sheep, cows, chickens and birds in abundance in nearby fields. The owners have two dogs and three cats, all very friendly. We are fond of all animal life so it enhanced the stay for us.. The owners were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed ourselves and had all we needed without being intrusive. The cottage is charming but modern and well equiped inside and there is a great pub within walking distance. We would definitely stay again if we find ourselves in this part Wales.

About the host
Hosted by Jackie Emery
We have lived in this beautiful part of Wales since April, 2000. In that time we have worked hard to make a lovely family home and recently completed the cottage. We have 3 grown up children all of whom love the outdoors. Steve and I will often walk the mountains with our 2 border collies and at the week end we always try to get out for a run over the mountains with the dogs. We also have two cats who love nothing more than sleeping in the sun room all day and hunting during the night. To complete our menagerie we have a brood of hens and a handsome cockerel who range freely in the farmers field adjourning the garden, they produce fantastic eggs which you will get a chance to enjoy. Both Steve and I work, he is a Landscape Gardener and I work as a Senior Employment Law Consultant and trainer so life is always very busy, but we always look forward to the weekends when we can enjoy our home and garden which we love sharing with friends and family.
Why they chose this property
We have made a family home in the adjourning property and love the location and views and wanted to share this with other people.
What makes this property unique
The cottage is set down a one track lane with the only disturbance coming from the morning chorus or the bleating sheep yet we are close to the A55 and can be in Machester or Liverpool in just over an hour. With Chester and the North Wales coast and mountains just a short drive away. You can walk out of the cottage door and go up into the Clwydian mountains without having to use the car. Or stroll to the pub down the lanes and very rarely see another person let alone a car.
