About this property
Domaine de la Safraniere - XVIII Farmhouse in the French Alps at 470m
In privileged surroundings at the foot of the chaine of the Belledonne mountains an authentic XVIII Savoyarde renovated farm. Situated on a plateau at 470m altitude in St. Leger in the Valley of the Maurienne.
The domaine is spacious, comfortable and close to nature with 2 bedrooms, bathroom with toilet, plus an extra toilet, lounge and fully equipped, open plan kitchen.
There is also a deck to sit, listen and admire the breathtaking mountain countryside and it's wildlife, whilst savouring the pure tranquility and maybe, also a glass of wine!
The property was taken out of the hunting zone 16 years ago and the land is organically managed (cultivation of Saffron ) creating a haven for wildlife, also horses, cats and chickens live harmoniously here.
Among the surrounding mountains there are many lakes nearby for swimming and numerous skiing resorts.
The valley of the Maurienne has the world's largest cycling area with prestigious mountain passes such as the Iseran, Madeleine, Glandon and Galibier. It is also possible to rent out professional racing bikes, VTT, etc.
The Maurienne valley also is home to around 20 ski resorts where there is also access to The Three Valleys via the Orelle gondola.
There are also a couple of good local restaurants which I will have a pleasure to tell you about.

About the host
Hosted by Lesley
I am Australian and have been lucky to have lived and worked in many countries. I acquired animals along my travels and needed a place to put them all so I bought a farm in the French Alps. Saffron is also cultivated on the farm. No pesticides are used on the farm.
Why they chose this property
The valley of the Maurienne is pretty well unknown to many. I like this valley as I am sure you will too for it's authenticity, it has not been altered by tourism and commerce.
