Excellent in every way
This is a well appointed and comfortable house in our favorite part of Maine, with a very accommodating host. With Lee (then a hurricane) barreling toward the Downeast region on our scheduled departure day, Douglas graciously allowed us to extend our stay.
The house is spacious with everything a guest might need, and more. I'd swap my kitchen layout for Douglas' in a heartbeat. There are wonderful views of the Bagaduce throughout the house. The property is large and private while just a 10-minute drive to Blue Hill.
Despite the unusually damp weather for September, we got in many of our favorite hikes (Blue Hill Mountain, Barred Island, Great Pond Mountain, and Crockett's Cove) plus a few new trails (Harriman Point Preserve is a winner). We were also pleased to find that the Barncastle restaurant is under new management with a wonderful menu. We enjoyed dinner there one night.
If you have to work, the internet is strong and reliable. Or if you have a rain day, there are plenty of cushy chairs and sofas for reading and admiring the scenery,
We look forward to staying again in 2024.
