Used as a base camp for trips to the Fringe and Murrayfield. House is close to the train station which is about 35-40 mins into Edinburgh city. Excellent value for money!
We enjoyed our stay in shotts. Good kitchen and royal bedrooms. Good communication when we needed some help!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, clean, comfortable with excellent amenities. Location is excellent with a short walk to the train station and local grocery store. Beautiful backyard, with a lovely picnic table. Quiet and safe neighborhood.
I brought my sons and their girlfriends to Scotland to meet family and see where I was born.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Not too bad
My wife and I were looking for a place that would be central to Edinburgh st Andrew’s and Glasgow. The house met those needs. Also we’re looking for a washer and dryer since we were on the second week of a 3week vacation. Listing said a dryer but there wasn’t one. No grill either. Other than that listing was accurate. We would recommend this place if you were looking at driving and need a central location to base camp from. Nothing to do though in Shotts

I double-checked the listing details, it clearly says fold-out clothes dryer in each bedroom.
Also known as a clothes horse. You have assumed a clothes dryer means a tumble dryer. The grill is a function of the multi-function oven. You just need to select the correct function its all in the house manual, or you could have just asked me.
We wanted a place to stay somewhere between Edinburgh and Glasgow with easy access to the train station. This was ideal. We were also able to get up to Stirling and Loch Lomond by car with ease. The house was comfortable, with everything you need for a short stay. The lounge could be made a bit more homely with the rearrangement of the furniture and perhaps the addition of a carpet in the middle of the room. Parking is on road but we didn't have a problem finding a space. I would like to suggest that an information folder is provided with instructions on how to operate the heating, dishwasher and so on, together with an outline of your requirements eg what do do with linen when leaving, recommendations for what to visit, where to eat. A bath mat would also be an added bonus. Thank you for having us.

Just to respond to a couple of the points raised.
We of course did have a printed house manual but as per the enhanced hygiene and cleaning protocols brought in by the booking sites all printed material has been removed.
We do not use bathmats as they are unhygienic. It’s fine if you are a family but for individual workers staying it's an issue if someone had a verruca or fungal nail infection.
Instruction on what to do when leaving is emailed to you the evening before you leave, if you are unsure just email me or message me or phone me.
The furniture is laid out exactly as in the photographs this allows for ease of cleaning a carpet or rug is not provided for the same reason. Guests quite often arrange the furniture to suit themself’s
We have recommendations on places to visit on our website but for a more comprehensive list, visitscotland.com has everything. We don’t recommend places to eat an internet search would provide all the information you need.
We stayed here for a month while we waited to get into our new house - a family of four adults. This place was a godsend - spacious, clean, had everything you could ever need, street parking available right outside and really friendly neighbours. We had no issues whatsoever, but did get to meet the host, James, when he came to change the beds and towels - a service we have never received in any other self catering place we’ve stayed in. Train station round the corner to both Glasgow and Edinburgh, Co-Op nearby, takeaways and restaurants. Don’t even hesitate with this place - just book it!
Clean and tidy house with garden, on a quiet residential street. All kitchen basics provided. Even had Sky TV, Netflix and WiFi Internet. Great location between Edinburgh and Glasgow. 50min drive into centre of Edinburgh. Perfect for day trips out into either city, Stirling or to surrounding country side. Kids had plenty of space to play and relax after long days out.

Clean and comfortable, well equipped
Very clean, everything we needed for a stay. Kitchen was very well equipped, plenty of towels, hundreds of tv channels! Easy parking and a huge garden. Good location. Wifi dropped a few times but other than that no complaints!

Apologies for the WiFi, I did contact “Sky” who provide the service, their remote diagnostics found no faults, I switched it all off, waited a bit and turned it all back on again. It took quite a while for it all to reconnect (I was getting a little nervous) but it all rebooted fine, eventually.
Best Regards
