Cortijo Las Ventas is a lovely country house situated within the heart of the stunningly beautiful region of Andalucia, on the borders of Granada & Malaga provinces. It is perfectly located for exploring the vibrant cities of Malaga (40mins) Granada (40mins), Cordoba (90mins), Seville (120mins) or Sierra Nevada Skiing (60mins) or the quaint and quiet villages of rural Andalucia. The hill top town of Iznajar overlooking it’s stunning lake with it’s sandy beach and watersports, the Subbetica National Park; the attractive town of Antequera with it’s rich history and Roman & Moorish architecture and the pretty town of Riofrio with its many restaurants specialising in local trout, are all just a short drive away.. Set in beautiful countryside with surrounding olive groves, but just 5 minutes from the motorway network, the village of Salinas is just 10 minutes walk from the cortijo and has a great choice of bars and traditional restaurants. The house has been recently renovated and finished to a high standard by the owner. The accommodation is beautifully presented throughout and has much charm and character,r typical of a Spanish cortijo. It has 5 bedrooms doubles all with ceiling fans, living room with beamed ceiling & wood burning stove, dining room, 2 attractive fully tiled bathrooms, 2 excellent fitted kitchens and 2 lovely covered patio areas for dining al fresco overlooking the large gardens and pool. The delightful outside space is fenced for privacy. Children and adults will enjoy the freedom of the lovely grounds which encompass a stream, pond, lawned area and fabulous Swimming Pool (10m x 5m).with surrounding paved terrace. The purpose-built Barbecue area has electricity, sink and ample worktop space. Cook, eat, relax in one of the many sunny or shady parts of the garden, the choice is yours. There is also ample parking for guests. Perfect for days spent walking in the surrounding woodland or soaking up the culture of idyllic Andalucia. Visit the city of Malaga’s with it historic centre, cathedral & charming winding streets with bustling cafes and bars, as well as the impressive Moorish Alcazaba overlooking the sea, the Picasso Museum, the recently developed port area (Muelle Uno) with it’s stylish cafes and shops and the new Pompidou art gallery. Spend a day on one of many beaches at Malaga or along the Costa del Sol . Granada is a beautiful city and a fabulous day excursion, with so much to see, including the amazing Alhambra Palace, the last seat of power of the ruling Moors before leaving Spain, the historic Albaicin and Sacromonte districts, the impressive Cathedral, superb modern science museum and much more. The Sierra Nevada mountain range, National Park and ski resort lie just south of Granada and offers excellent skiing. Lessons and ski hire can be reserved online. Approximately 90 minutes car journey from the property. Cordoba is steeped in history too and has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site, having once been an important Roman city and later a major Islamic centre of Spain. Here you will find here the magnificent 8th century Islamic mosque La Mezquita, the Alcazar of the Christian Kings and the old roman bridge. Seville, also has world heritage status and is the capital of the Andalucia region and deservedly so, with it’s major landmarks including; the Moorish Alcazar castle, the Cathedral, Giralda tower, the Plaza de España, 18th century bull ring and much more. The El Torcal mountain range lies just south of Antequera. It’s approximately 1200 metres in altitude and is known for it’s unique limestone rock formations, some of the most impressive and beautiful in Europe. There are three fantastic walking routes here and an abundance of wildlife including Griffon Vultures and Ibex. The incredible Caminito del Rey (or King’s walk) at El Chorro, now a hugely successful natural tourist attraction, comprising of an awe inspiring walkway through a steep sided gorge is approximately 1 hour away. Tickets for this stunning walk should be reserved online in advance. There is also a large lake nearby with beach and watersports.. Walking/Hiking/Cycling This is perfect country for walking, hiking and cycling. There are many marked trails within the area (known a the GR routes) including the well known GR7 which runs through Andalucia nearby. There are lovely walks around Iznajar lake and deeper into the Sierra Subbetica National Park.
