About the host

Hi. I having been coming to the Langhe since 1998. I used to live in London so it wasn't so crazy to buy a vacation property in my favorite place on earth. Then in 2009, I ended up marrying an Italian who wanted to live in the US. I love my tower and will never give it up, and so I rent it out so that it gets used by other people who can enjoy it as much as I do.

Why they chose this property

I have been fortunate to travel the world but every time I go to Barolo and sit on my roof terrace it takes my breath away. And in the 20 years I have owned my tower, there are so many events that have become staples of the seasons. Of course there are the food and wine festivals. The region is excellent in supplying information in English on the regional tourist website about all these events. The biggest is in October and November and centers around the harvest of the white Alba truffle.
My property is my home and you get the entire 3 floors all to yourself. You are in the historic center of Barolo and all shops and restaurants are all accessible within a few minutes walk. There are lots of stairs in the property but in the 20 years most comments say they appreciate the stairs as it helps offset to all the food and wine consumed.
Barolo is in the countryside but an easy 15 min to ALBA and an easy 20 min from the Autostrada therefore making it a very perfect location for touring both in the Langhe and Piemonte and Liguria.

What makes this property unique

An 19th century tower that is the 2nd tallest building in the town (after the Castle) which offers complete privacy yet is in the center of the most important wine town in the Langhe, and some could argue in Italy. From every window the views are breathtaking but it is the huge roof terrace that will take your breadth away and have you coming back year after year. To have this privacy and views and still be steps away from excellent restaurants, entotecas and wineries, TorreBarolo offers it all.
