A beautiful cottage in a romantic hamlet

Our farm is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region near Greve, in an untouched natural setting, looking out over Montefioralle, a splendid medieval village. It is on the top of a hill (1400 feet above sea level) with a magnificent 360 °view. Even in the summer a fresh breeze keeps it cool
La Capanna, a restored farm building, consists of a beautiful, bright living room, a small kitchen, a double bedroom, and a bathroom finished in travertine. It is near the swimming pool, with a breathtaking panoramic view of the countryside.There is a private outside area for guests

Property Review

Roberto and his wife were lovely hosts and the area is beautiful. However, like so many self catering properties in Tuscany the accomodation is let down by cheap, penny pinching for the furnishing and equipment supplied. As we have come to expect in Tuscany: - Chipped cups and plates - Minimal kitchen equipment - A bed too large for the bedroom (or room too small), consequently the cords for the bedside lamps constitute a trip hazard. - toilet cistern taking 1 or 2 hours to refill Contrast this with the accomodation we had at Lake Como. Comfortably and generously furnished, a complete set of (IKEA) cutlery and crockery, well equipped kitchen, a few tea bags, a bottle of wine in the fridge. It would cost pennies to make all the difference, and persuade us that never staying in self catering in Tuscany is the only answer

Häuschen in Weiler im Chianti-Gebiet

Die Azienda Agricola Montefili, zu der das Haus gehört, liegt im Herzen des Chianti Classico Gebietes. Man hat vom Standort einen herrlichen Ausblick in die Region und es ist sehr ruhig. Montefili liegt an der Strasse SP118 zwischen dem Restaurant La Locanda und dem mittelalterlichen Städtchen Montefioralle. Der Wohnbereich des Hauses ist grosszügig und die Küche zweckmässig. Es steht ein kleiner Backofen zur Verfügung. Der Schlafraum ist ca. 2 m breit und das Bett ist 140 cm breit. Es ist relativ eng. Wir empfehlen zum Schlafen ein Moskitonetz (muss selbst mitgebracht werden) zum Schutz vor Insekten. Mit Roberto und Elena hatten wir einen herzlichen Kontakt und auch der «Hofhund» Bu ist uns ans Herz gewachsen. Da der Umbau dieses Häuschen schon eine Weile zurückliegt, würde ihm eine Auffrischung guttun. Der Tisch und eine Kommode sind sehr stark von Holzwürmern befallen. Das Geschirr ist zusammengewürfelt. Wir haben zusätzliche Dinge gekauft und zum Teil auch dort gelassen. Die Abwaschmaschine haben wir benutzt, nachdem wir sie von Verunreinigungen von Vormietern intensiv gereinigt hatten. Taps muss man mitbringen oder selbst kaufen. Der Kleiderschrank im Schlafzimmer ist eher klein. Ein zusätzlicher Ständer wäre praktisch. Wegen des frühen Kälteeinbruchs mussten wir mit der Klimaanlage heizen. Es kamen wegen der Kälte auch verschiedene Insekten ins Haus. Den Pool, der sehr schön gelegen ist, konnten wir leider nicht benutzen, da es zu kalt war.

Très bon séjour

Superbe hébergement, très bien situé. Nous avions tout ce qu’il fallait et la piscine était très bien. En revanche, nous avons eu beaucoup de mal à trouver le logement et aucun moyen de contacter abritel ni le propriétaire… cela nous a fait perdre beaucoup de temps. Malgré cela, le reste était très bien.

Breathtaking views and beautiful quiet location

We had a lovely short stay in one of the converted stone outbuildings on this hilltop farm. There are spectacular views all around, and the farm is a short (steep!) walk from the picturesque medieval village of Montefioralle. It is also very conveniently located for Florence and Siena. We enjoyed the wildlife in particular, with hoopoes and cuckoos calling nearby, and an abundance of wild flowers just outside the cottage. The owners are delightful and very helpful.

Un très bon accueil des propriétaires ,un site inoubliable . Présenter toutefois les bonnes coordonnées pour la géolocalisation du gite car les informations données ne sont pas assez precises. Accès un peu cahoteux.
