Adaúfe is a small village but has all the necessary amenities (pharmacy, health center, analyst (blood, urine, etc.), ATM, gas station, hairdresser, supermarket, cafes, bakery, butcher, etc. There are also 2 large shopping centers within 5 km, and Braga (3rd Portuguese city) is approximately 5 km from Casa do Alto. Porto International Airport is just 50 minutes away.
You will need a car to get around, but there is a frequent bus service to Braga and local taxis are also available. Casa do Alto has lots of parking space.
Casa do Alto is an old renovated stone chalet, on a farm, which is nestled in the hillside of the Cavado river valley. It is not far from the University of Minho campus. Exquisite views from all sides and part of the ancient Roman road to Braga is located just behind the door. The stone "eira" (or patio where cereals have dried) is one of the largest in the Minho region (484 m2) and many memorable events have taken place there.
The perfect place to stay as a base to visit this region of Portugal or just relax in the property itself (1 hectare) either in the garden or the small wooded area with oaks, cork oaks, chestnuts sweet among many other varieties of trees. Braga, the nearest big city to Casa do Alto (5 km), is an exciting city with many historic sites to visit, such as the oldest cathedral in Portugal. Excellent local and international gastronomy can be enjoyed in the many restaurants available in and around Braga, with a wide range of exquisite wines which Portugal is renowned for.
There is also a "tourist triangle" made up of the three famous sanctuaries of "Bom Jesus", "Sameiro" and "Stª Marta" which are worth a visit.
