This cabin was perfect. Roomy and clean, well thought out space. Location was great on the lake and everyone had fun.Sunsets were nice and we relaxed and floated and fished.
Great location on Lake Murray. Cute house that could fit all 8 of us, but a little challenging cooking and prepping within the smaller space. However, this was expected and did not take away from the experience. Would stay again.
We had such a great time! The cabin is so cozy & inviting. The beds are super comfortable & it is clean & has everything you can possibly need. It has all the necessary amenities, great views & an awesome fire pit. It is peaceful & serene. Great place to go & get away!
This is the most adorable cabin on the lake! Our family loved staying here!
The cabin was very comfortable with all amenities. We had plenty of space, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, nice dock and wonderful views of the lake. The boat launch was around the corner at a marina with boat rentals available. We had a fun time and our teens are asking to go back!
We hope to do it again soon!
Sunset Cabin was the perfect quick getaway from the real world. The cabin was cozy, comfortable and calming. We enjoyed fishing from the dock and sitting by the fire in the crisp autumn air. Kathy was always available to answer any questions or give advice on local restaurants. Thank you, Kathy, for that. Being able to stay an extra day was an added bonus. We enjoyed it thoroughly! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had a wonderful long weekend stay in this cute log cabin property on the water. We decided to visit our USC student and stay at the lake instead of in town and we did not regret it! It's a well appointed, clean, quiet property.
We loved the dock, fire pit, and the pavilion by the water. Great for family and friends to hang out, relax, and enjoy. We even caught some good sized fish from the shore and the dock! Fun, fun! Thanks for allowing us to stay at your beautiful property!
Kathy was so easy to communicate with, the cabin is absolutely beautifully. My family enjoyed coffee on the deck every morning, kayaking and watching the turtles and alligator gar pop up to say hi! We attempted to fish but the turtles were smarter. We had one storm during our stay and we sat underneath the pier deck listening to the thunder roll I wish we were still there!
We picked Lake Murray on a whim and found the Sunset Cabin which is excellent. Kathyis super responsive and easy to connect with. The house is as pictured loft upstairs with plenty of space, a main bedroom on the main level with a sitting area and a fabulous porch. Downstairs is a great space for watching movies and chilling. Outside is fabulous all the things u need for lake life.
Thanks for a great stay!
Nice location although a 20 min. drive to the closest grocery store. Lack of counter & cabinet space in the kitchen was a bit challenging for cooking & storing food. We were surprised by the amount of personal items in the cottage (toiletries, food in the refrigerator) . The sunsets really are amazing!
This cabin was so comfy and relaxing for us to stay....it can sleep 10 comfortably, but there were only 2 of us, for 2 nights, and 4 of us for the other two nights. The cabin was more than big enough for all of us to be comfortable! We fished all day from the dock one of the days, and it was awesome!!! We caught bream, perch...and a GAR!!! How fun and scary was that??? Anyway, the cabin was awesome, the property was awesome, and we are having another family gathering at the lake, and i will try to grab this place again - yes, it was that good!

Needs A Really Good Cleaning...
Kathy was ON THE BALL as far as communication is concerned. Check in is easy and she answered every question that we had promptly. The location was great for where we needed to be as well as easy to get to.
The property could use a good cleaning and it would have been a much more enjoyable stay.
Inside and out needs a good pressure washing, there are cobwebs inside the cabin. The home doesn't look like it gets enough use so it is a bit neglected. We went to use the kayak and had to remove a nest of baby snakes from inside.
If the home had more use ~ It would be an enjoyable place to stay. We must have been the first ones to stay in a while.
Don't mark this home off your list, just ask if they have been able to pressure wash outside and a deep cleaning inside before you book it.
We've stayed at Lake Murray several times in much bigger houses just around the corner from this one--all of them faced west, which is great at sunset time. This house is NOT big, but it was my favorite for one primary reason: shade.
The other houses I've stayed in were "nicer" in ever way except neither had any shade anywhere near the water (one didn't have any shade all the way to the house). This is a big deal in the Summer in the second half of the day for a Western facing house. Unlike the other houses, this house has shade from the house down to the water which makes for several areas where you can hang out in comfort during the afternoon heat.
As a result, the living area of the house feels much bigger because we spent so much time on the decks/dock/Adirondack chairs by the water.
Don't bring a lot of stuff--most of what you need is in the house somewhere anyway (from ziploc bags to various food items to shampoo and games, this house had more items available to us than any rental I can recall)--as there is very little room to put it. I grumbled a bit about "if the house just had 5 more feet on each side..." but I would go back without hesitation. Wish I was back there now.
And what I've said is WITHOUT regard to the cost difference. This house is far cheaper than the other two I'd rented. Considering the value, it's a no-brainer for those who, like us, are there to enjoy the lake and not to watch TV in a big living room. We had a blast.

Disappointing
Aside from the lake and how fun the weekend was, I was disappointed with the treatment from the property owner. She seemed like she was looking for any reason to up charge, and it was definitely a stretch. We took the trash to the can, but not all of it fit so we left the remaining bags inside. The linens were taken off and put on the floor of each room (which is a normal checkout procedure) , but she uncharged because it wasn’t taken to the laundry room. We 100% didn’t break a banister but she’s trying to up charge for this as well even though she didn’t mention it on the phone when we spoke. We accidentally forgot to lock the float shed, which is an honest mistake and she’s trying to upcharge for this too. She also mentioned that there was a pair of underwear under one of the beds, which was there when we got there because I remember seeing it the first day...she mentioned upcharging for this too.
The house was also not in the best shape. The stairs didn’t have railing so I was nervous that someone was going to fall, especially when a few of the steps felt loose. There were spider webs and dirt/dust all over, so it’s unfortunate that she’s trying to upcharge when we cleaned the place better than how it was when we got there. If you’re going to be nit-picky about minuscule charges for cleaning when there’s literally a cleaning fee for someone to come clean, maybe don’t VRBO your home.
Fantastic stay!! We spent most of our week out on the dock swimming and cooking. Interior was nice and clean. Kathy is a excellent host and was available to answer any and all questions!!
Three generations piled in for a USC graduation. Cabin was well provisioned. Great porches - two levels. Dock was perfect for swimming and fishing. No complaints at all.
What a lovely cabin! We had plenty of room for our 9 family members and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere for evening charades. The dock was perfect and the kayaks were enjoyed by all. We would definitely stay again.
Wonderful rental with marina right around the corner. Dock and water sport options all right here. Super clean and no mosquitos!! Hope to come back next year.

Why they chose this property
This is a warm log cabin with beautiful sunsets. Waterfront & dock swimming & fishing. It's perfect for 3 couples or a small family retreat. Very romantic setting. Great for kids. We have enjoyed it so much with our family & friends.
What makes this property unique
The views from the upstairs & downstairs porches are magnificent. Porches are shaded and we use them in the spring, summer & fall. We have a cozy wood burning stove that is so nice during the fall & winter. The family table seats 8. Also a table for 4 on adjoining porch. Nice walking area around Landford Circle. Fire pit with 4 adirondack style chairs. Gazebo has nice benches to enjoy the sunsets or fishing or coffee in the morning.
