Brewery Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 2 guests in 1 bedroom
Brewery Cottage is a very well appointed and characterful single story cottage set in the rear garden of a historic town house, close to Chichester city centre. Having been converted from what was once the billiard room of an old pub, the cottage retains some of its original character while also offering the conveniences of modern living and very comfortable, high quality accommodation. The access is via the rear courtyard to the main house, through secure gates. There is a parking space available to guests in this courtyard, as well as an outside seating area in the gardens. The parking space is secure with electronic gates. Please note the garden is shared with the property owner.
The cottage itself offers a large, open-plan sitting and dining area, with the kitchen set back in one corner. You can relax on the very comfy sofas and on those colder nights, keep warm in front of the wood burning stove. The kitchen area is well equipped and includes a combination microwave and oven, ceramic hob and dishwasher. The double bedroom leads off from the main living area and through to the en-suite shower room with modern and stylish fittings.
Brewery Cottage is just a short walk from one of the four main shopping streets in Chichester city centre. It is also within walking distance of the famous Festival Theatre and Cathedral, as well as both local and larger shops, making it an ideal location from which to be based. Chichester is an historic city with strong Roman connections and has an enormous array of things to do and places to visit. The city is blessed with a variety of beautiful architecture, with great care having been taken to preserve its character. The ancient walls surround the city centre and one can walk along them, through various scenic parks. There is a thriving tennis and squash club, along with various fitness and health clubs and there is a selection of shops and restaurants, the latter offering excellent choices for the most varied culinary tastes. Just to the north of Chichester are the stunning South Downs, with lovely rolling countryside and as well as many picturesque Downland villages. There is the Goodwood horse racing track to visit, along with the world famous motor sports events held annually, such as the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival. Golf is also available at Goodwood and the polo at Cowdray Park, near Midhurst, is just a short drive away. There is excellent sailing in Chichester Harbour, as well as windsurfing at the Witterings and diving at Bracklesham Bay. London is less than 2 hours away, either by road or rail.

Home from home
This is the second time we’ve stayed at Brewery Cottage and have found it a very homely place, perfect for a couple. Just out side the wall but only a short walk to the centre of Chichester and the Cathedral.
Listening to the bells was a real treat.

The Brewery Cottage is lovely. This is the 3rd time we have stayed here. Accommodation is clean, in great condition and really comfortable. It is also in a great location only 5 or 10 mins walk from Chichester Cross and centre of city. Highly recommend.

Excellent accommodation.
This is the second time that we have stayed at the Brewery Cottage and have already booked it again for next year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. The cottage is immaculate and is well equipped. It is in an excellent location, close to city centre, but also feels very secluded and peaceful.

Great stay in the centre of Chichester
The cottage is in a perfect location for exploring Chichester and we barely used our car. It’s in a lovely quiet location with a comfortable bed and we had everything we needed in the kitchen.
Parking a large car in the driveway through a narrow gate was quite a challenge and what would have been good is more heating in the bathroom as it was very chilly and the one towel rail never heated the room up.
It’s an excellent place to stay and we would stay there again.

Very smart place in excellent position.
We were very pleased indeed to find this delightful cottage for two with parking and in easy walking distance of centre and the theatre.Beautifully furnished with two comfortable sofas, good quality linen and pristine bathroom with great shower. The kitchen was well equipped. The oven is a microwave and convection which was new to us but proved fine. There’s an air fryer too which we didn’t use.We didn’t need the log burner and were comfortable throughout our stay and had no problems at all.We would definitely book again and may well do so as there’s a great deal to see and do in the area.

Goodwood Revival Accomodation
We have attended the Goodwood Revival for several years and then spent the rest of the week exploring the area. Brewery Cottage was the best accommodation we have stayed in. Secure parking, walking distance from shops and places to eat. The cottage was clean, and well equipped. Access to the cottage and parking is through a narrow gated entrance in a wall, with height restriction, which had to be driven through carefully.
Had a wonderful stay at this holiday cottage. The location was great —perfect for exploring the town centre and all that Chichester has to offer, while remaining quiet and peaceful. The cottage was spacious, well-equipped, and the bed comfortable. However, it could have been aired out and warmed up a bit more prior to our arrival, as it took a couple of days to feel truly homely. Aside from this minor issue, it was a lovely space and made for an enjoyable visit.”

Clean, comfortable, quiet and convenient.
The cottage was clean, comfortable and in a nice, quiet location. It was very good to find accommodation with off street parking so close to the city centre. The parking space was a little tight, especially as it seemed safer to turn the car round when exiting the rather narrow gate. However this was a minor drawback. We did wonder whether thought could be given into upgrading the TV provided as the screen size is very small by today's standards.
Response from VrboOwner on 21 Aug 2023
Thank you for your feedback we will pass this along to the host of Brewery Cottage. The parking is a tricky one for us to change unfortunately as the property is so central and it's in a walled garden. We are so please your enjoyed your stay.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
Very spacious cottage, a comfortable bed for a king size (super king would fit easily). There was a large display cupboard for clothes but no wardrobe just some pegs on the wall. The plumbing was all good but running water caused a noisy pump to switch on. The kitchen was well equipped with an electric hob and a microwave combi oven etc. There was a wood burner in the lounge for the colder months but we didn't try this, two sofas and a library of books. The TV and WIFI all worked OK. Outside there are electric double gates with secure parking but the door post clearance for the car mirrors was only a couple of inches on each side so the distance alarm was in the red and screaming. There was a pleasant little garden and seating for a drink on a warm evening. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the easy walk into town was a real bonus.

Really enjoyed our stay at Brewery cottage. It was much larger than expected and very comfortable. It was a good base to explore the south coast. Portsmouth historic harbour was our favourite. The Mary Rose was amazing.

A lovely location for a week in the area
Brewery Cottage is the ideal place for visiting places of interest such as the Weald and Downland Museum, Fishbourne Roman Palace, Portsmouth Historic Dockyards. It's also very conveniently located for walking into Chichester for the Cathedral and restaurants. The cottage is spacious and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen. There's a very pleasant shared garden and a bonus is the parking.

Well situated cottage is convenient to everything. Very nice sized rooms give a sense of space in a modest footprint. The kitchen was a challenge for us—the electric stovetop and combo convection/microwave took some getting used to, but we managed in the end. Great book collection and cozy little wood burning stove made us want to stay longer!

Lovely cottage in Chichester
The cottage is very comfortable and well presented with everything you would wish for. It also has a private parking space and a pretty garden. The location close to the city centre and within walking distance of all amenities was perfect for us. The owners were on site if we required any assistance. We had a lovely stay.

Enjoyable.
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage which was in a prime location in the City. A garden and parking were a bonus.
There were a couple of things that need sorting out. When the fridge is full it is top heavy and when you open the door it all falls towards you.
The Cooker hob was tricky to operate & understand.

Fantastic break in these difficult times
Brewery Cottage was delightful, larger than the photos lead you to believe we were surprised at the space .
Everything was high quality and well thought out .
The location was perfect we could walk into the centre within 10 minutes for restaurants and cafes ,there is a pub within 5 mins which is great if it's raining !! Even though it's this close to the town the cottage could have been in the country side it was so peaceful.
Easy access to trains /bus's if you are without a car.
We loved our stay there and really hope to visit again .
