About this property
Villa Mattirolo. The ancient beech house
Splendid villa of the end of 800, surrounded by majestic beech trees. The old house, all in stone and wood, is on 3 floors, with numerous bedrooms with balconies, antique kitchen with stove, sitting area with fireplace. But looking up and looking around you can appreciate the true and unique beauty of this place: the ceilings are all original and frescoed with wonderful floral decorations and cheerful blue swallows that call the spring. Looking out from the balconies, you can enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Levanne with their glacier (as long as there is) ... When the wind blows among the beeches, sit on the edge of the door or lie down in the hammock, close your eyes and let yourself be lulled: you will feel the scent of these ancient places, so unique and rare. A spacious garden, with hydrangeas and azaleas, surrounds the house making it perfect for children too.

Beautifull house with a wonderful entrance and a huge garden. The house is spacious, enough room for the 7 of us and our dog. Owners are very kind and helpfull. People in the little village are very kind. We love the Italians!Surrounding excellent for hiking, biking, climbing or just hanging around the river. We will certainly come back!
Pialpetta ,the hamlet where this house is located is an ideal destination if you are looking for a" get way from it all" holiday : the one shop covers four hamlets & the one road along the valley, which is flanked by a fast flowing river, ends in a wall of impressive mountain peaks, less than 4 kms after the house.
The location is a haven for walkers. There are a number of well signposted paths leading from Pilapetta into the mountains on both sides of the river, adapted to different levels of walkers /hikers-: from novices & families to experts .
The area is relatively unknown & unspoilt & has some beautiful walks & even in August we rarely met other walkers.
And the house ? What you are getting is exactly as it says in Elisabetta's description : you are getting the (rare) opportunity to stay in a house that has stayed in the same family since it was built in the late 19th century, with many of the original features still in place ..painted ceilings ...stone floors, etc . As a result, the house- like a favourite aunt- has its very own idiosyncracies & it is for you to adapt to the house ..it is part of the charm of having the opportunity of staying in such a unique house : in our case we loved staying there !!!
Finally the owner , the housekeeper & her daughter could not have been more helpful : they even made themselves available via social media during our stay which enabled us to plan a day out to Turin in August ..which apparently is not an easy thing to do ! Thank you again for everything !!!!!!!!!

Thank you Alan for being such a careful and respectful guest in Villa Mattirolo. Hosting you has been a real pleasure and we are looking forward to welcome you again in Pialpetta !
