Villa Tanca is a charming 5 bedroom private villa with stunning views in the old village of Monterosso. Its unique position on the beach of the village and on the main square makes this property the ideal solution for a comfortable and memorable stay in the Cinque Terre. Sheltered by the shade and quiet of the woods, this luxurious destination was built to accommodate those looking to spend quality time with loved ones. Furnishing is simple and a little dated, but the large spaces are an added value because they are very rare in the Cinque Terre. Bathrooms have been updated in 2022 with new bathtubs. AC has been added in each bedroom.
The Villa
Villa Tanca is a great architectural project from the late 60's - early 70's. A linear construction that develops on two floors.
The Villa is not accessible by car. Cars must be parked in one of Monterosso public car parking areas and the property can only be reached on foot from the promenade or from the old town via an uphill path that connects the old village to the cloister of the Capuchin Friars.
Villa Tanca will amaze you with its large amount of memories that the owners are happy to share with their guests.

The terrace
The Villa Tanca terrace, paved with green tiles, is the place where the owners' family gathered every night before going to sleep. It is also equipped with sun loungers and becomes the perfect part of the villa for relaxing under the Cinque Terre sun. The terrace is equipped with an awning, in order to keep the temperature cool throughout the property.
A stone's throw from the sea, Villa Tanca will guarantee you quick access to the beach. Have you ever imagined sleeping asleep to the sound of the waves slowly rolling over the sandy shores and enjoying the sunset over the gulf from your private terrace while sipping some local wine? This is the place for you. Private events such as celebrations, dinners and tastings can be organized on request
Franco Tanca, true son of Monterosso, always dreamed of being able to see the Cinque Terre from his bedroom window. In 1969, his dream came true. This is the reason why he built this villa right on the main square and on the beach of Monterosso. It is also the reason why the house's linear architecture is interrupted at one's bedroom. That room had to face the sea, so that every morning he could wake up to admire the friendly waters of the Mediterranean from his bed.

This is our second time at this property and it does not disappoint at all. From check in to enjoying all the amenities things are perfect! Thanks again for another wonderful stay.
Loved the house and the location! The stocked kitchen was such a treat and all of the extras that were offered like the porter service and cooking classes were amazing. We did struggle with lots mosquitos in the house and we didn't keep the doors or windows open. There were also some cobwebs and other bugs in the house. Overall the rest of the house was wonderful!

Thank you so much, Julie, for your lovely and detailed review!
We’re delighted to hear that you and your family enjoyed the charm and location of Villa Tanca, as well as the stocked kitchen and the extra services like the porter and cooking classes.
As the villa is surrounded by nature, it can sometimes happen that small insects or spiders find their way inside, but we always do our best to keep everything clean and comfortable for our guests.
It was a real pleasure hosting you and your family, and we’d be very happy to welcome you back to Monterosso anytime!
Warm regards,
Alina
Cinque Terre Riviera
Upon our arrival , we had the pleasant surprise of finding dinner and breakfast makings in the kitchen… tomatoes, lettuce, pasta, pesto, fruit, milk, eggs, bread, jams, coffee, and more! The kitchen was well stocked with cooking items, and tableware, tablecloths in the hallway. The living room was spacious with several seating areas. Several decks and wonderful views of the village (Old Town), and the beach and coastline. The villa was just a few minutes walk into town, yet very private. I had occasion to communicate directly with one of the owners, and learned that her father and grandfather had built the home and she grew up there. Knowing that increased our appreciation of our experience!

Beautiful home with a spectacular view. Very spacious for our family of twelve. Filled with beautiful furnishings and personal touches. Great location, convenient to the train station, restaurants and the beach but also very private. Be prepared to climb the stairs. That’s the price you pay for the spectacular views.
Love Villa Tanca! Incredible views, moonlight dancing on the balcony, fantastic location right on top of the beach, and access to an amazing hiking trail. A perfect vacation spot for the family
We had an amazing time at the Villa Tanca. We appreciated Alina meeting us at the base of the stairs and showing us around this beautiful villa. The villa was perfect for our family (4 couples) with spacious bedrooms and living areas and the beautiful patio overlooking the sea. The proximity to town and the Cinque Terre trails was perfect. There is so much to do right there. We really appreciated the wonderful welcome basket with plenty of fresh fruit, pasta, local specialties and the Prosecco! Highly recommend for a special time!
Wonderful property above town with amazing views. very spacious for the 9 of us. A bit hard to get to with bags - many, many stairs - but worth the views at the end!
With several people you need to plan your showers as the water pressure can't handle more than one shower at a time.
It was great that the team leaves breakfast foods, milk, juice, pesto and pasta, and wine!
Highly recommend this great place.
The views are as great as the photos indicate. Communication and check-in was smooth, but whether you arrive by car or train, there is a half mile walk to the property. That didn't bother us, but I didn't think that was as clear as it could have been on the listing. The house could use some updating for the price they are charging per night, but the views are truly wonderful. (Also, there is no television, which is normally not that big a deal. However, with the Euro soccer championships drawing everyone's attention, it would have been nice to be able to watch a game at the house.)

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
The property is very close to the listed description. We had a large group and the house fit perfectly with our needs. In terms of location, you only need to walk down the stairs (there are a lot of stairs) to the beach. It’s centered in between the new and old areas of montorosso and very close to the train station. The house overall fit with what we were looking for. The bedrooms were nice and all had their own air conditioning. The kitchen has many dishes and utensils and all appliances worked nicely. The parts of the house and the outdoor space are not well maintained. The tile floors on the had many cracks with lots of ants. Several of the outlets were falling out of the walls. The Terrace was a bit dirty and all the chairs needed to be cleaned before use. The parking space is reserved but at an extra cost for which they asked us to pay in cash. The parking spot is a decent walk through montorosso before you even reach the stairs you need to climb to the house. They did ask us to clean the toilets and floors in the bathrooms at check out. We were also asked to wash all dishes too (which we would have ordinarily done anyway). Lastly, we were asked to take out the garbage and take the glass recycling down the stairs into town to recycle before we left. For the price and for a VRBO that should have a cleaning service between guests, these requests seemed like they were not cleaning between guests and felt inappropriate to be asking.

Dear Kristie,
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We are pleased to know that the house, its location, and the amenities matched your expectations and that your group enjoyed the spacious bedrooms with air conditioning as well as the well-equipped kitchen.
We are sorry for the inconveniences you mentioned. The house is surrounded by a garden and located inside a National Park: occasionally, especially in summer, ants may appear despite regular maintenance, but we will reinforce our prevention measures. Concerning the terrace, the floor is naturally rustic, not dirty, but we understand it may give a different impression, so we will better highlight this aspect in the description.
Regarding the parking: the property has a reserved private spot in Monterosso, as indicated in the listing. We understand it may feel less convenient, but parking in the Cinque Terre is extremely limited.
As for the check-out instructions, there may have been a misunderstanding: we do not ask guests to clean the bathrooms, but only to avoid leaving sand in the showers. Professional cleaning is always carried out between stays. We kindly ask guests only to leave the kitchen in order and to dispose of trash according to local recycling rules.
We thank you once again for choosing us and for sharing both the positive aspects and the suggestions. We hope to welcome you back in the future for an even better stay.
Best regards,
Alexandra Cinque Terre Riviera
This rental was breathtaking! We traveled to Cinque Terre via train to Monterosso and the rental was located just a few minutes from there. The climb to the rental is no joke but absolutely worth it!! We felt like we were staying in a mansion/castle on the cliffs. You had sea views from the living room, multiple bedrooms, and the main balcony overlooking Monterosso Beach. I only wish we would have been able to stay longer! ❤️. We hiked a few of the trails that connect all 5 cities and took the train there too. Take their advice and get the train pass they message you about ahead of time. So many cute places to see and eat - the culture is amazing here!
We didnt get to hike between every town but if you get a chance, be sure to hike between Corniglia to Vernazza. There is a little bar in the middle of nowhere out there that serves the most amazing watermelon slushes and the view is breathtaking from their patios! We hiked to Vernazza and the view of that city was my favorite as we came down the mountain. We can't wait to go back!
The host was super nice, responsive and helpful. If you have big checked luggage, be sure to reserve the porter serice ahead of time to go up the hill. We had 7 adults traveling and the ammenities were plentiful!
Our extended family of 10 visited Villa Tanca and it couldn't have been a better location for home base to Cinque Terre. Astounding views, extensive places to gather outside, we even made a pizza in the pizza oven. The property's staff member Bianca gave us a great tour of all the amenities and was helpful when we had a random plumbing issue that popped up. This house is unique and a special place to stay. Get ready to work your legs walking up the stairs, but you'll appreciate it after dinner!
