Lyme Regis: Easily accessible, and only three hours from London and the Midlands, Lyme Regis is away from it all, nestling in the unspoilt West Dorset countryside. Part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, and surrounded by areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lyme Regis, the “Pearl of Dorset”, is famous for its fossils, its historic old town, its Cobb and its beaches. And now it's a destination for food lovers, with Hix Oyster and Fish House in the town, and River Cottage HQ and Axminster Canteen both close by.
The old town, dating back to the 14th century, is an ideal place to walk and explore the local shops, art galleries, newly replanted gardens with myriad places to stop to eat and drink. Built around the River Lym, Lyme has its own working Water Mill, recently refurbished to include an electricity generator. Lyme Regis is very special in that it is probably the smallest town in the country to boast its own cinema, theatre, and museum.
The Cobb attracts visitors – not just for its visual splendor and its magnificent naval architecture, but also for its connections with great literature. Indeed, people come from all over the world to see the steps where Louisa Musgrove fell in Jane Austen’s Persuasion; or to see where Meryl Streep stood, looking forlornly out to sea, in the film adaptation of John Fowles’ The French Lieutenant’s Woman. And art lovers are drawn to Lyme for both its beautiful scenery and for its wide range of art galleries.
Holiday makers will enjoy a family-friendly, sandy beach and an often-surprising micro-climate in the shelter of Lyme Bay. Marine Parade is a great place to walk, sit, enjoy the views and visit its small shops and eating places. Here the seafront facilities will soon benefit from restoration of the Marine Parade Shelters, ready for summer 2011. The town have many family-centered events, including a Jazz Festival, a Fossil Festival, Life Boat Week and a Regatta & Carnival Week.
For visitors who have had enough of the hourly-burly, and need to escape, there are many delightful places to stay to suit all budgets. You will be able to enjoy walks in the surrounding countryside and there are many opportunities to go out on a boat to view the glorious coastline from the sea or to fish in the clear waters of Lyme Bay.
Whether you are into sunbathing, walking, fossils or even jazz – Lyme Regis has something for everyone.

We had a fantastic stay in Lyme Regis! The house is fully equipped for everything you could need and plenty of entertainment. We loved all of the games and having meals around the dining room table. I can’t fault the accommodation and would recommend the house for any large groups of people wanting to get away together. Thank you so much for making our weekend amazing
A wonderful house for a family holiday. We enjoyed the time with three generations staying. Fantastic facilities, comfortable beds and spectacular views of Lyme Regis. And a bonus of a lovely welcome basket of goodies.

Wonderful stay in a beautifully decorated house
Wonderful stay in a beautifully decorated house. Close to the sea and picturesque town of Lyme Regis. A lot more space that at other holiday houses I have rented. Well equipped kitchen Good games room. All th children enjoyed their time. Will be coming back.
13 of us, aged between 11 and 77 had the most wonderful stay here for wedding anniversary celebration. The house was just perfect for all, lots of space with snooker table and games room, trampoline…. Amazing gardens…. All bedrooms fabulous and kitchen great for our celebration dinner, cooked and served by local chef and lovely assistant! What more can I say!!
Lovely property with great rooms and table tennis, snooker & other games to play. Kitchen and diner grand. Surprised the property had so many stairs and so high above Lyme with very steep road. So lovely views but … One of our group has mobility problems so this was an issue. Property description needs to be clear about this.

Glad you had a lovely stay for the 70th and appreciated the house and it views. As you will have experienced, the house is predominantly on two floors, connected by a domestic staircase. Furthermore, there is a childrens games room in the basement. We have a fully detailed access statement on our web site, as well as floor plans, which I am sorry you didn’t see before booking. Had you reached out to us ahead of booking with mobility concerns, then we would have happily answered any queries. Thank you for the time taken to leave the review.
We spent a wonderful 3 days at Springfield House in Lyme Regis. The house was very comfortable for 10 adults, 3 youngsters, a dog and a baby. We all had a lovely bedroom and the living room and dining room allowed us all to eat and relax together. Every need was catered for: bathrooms and showers were great! Communication with the hosts was faultless and timely! Superbly situated, the house allowed easy access to town and beach. We didn’t need to get into the car! Many thanks to our hosts! We are already talking about coming back!

Lovely big house in a perfect location to explore Lyme Regis.
Great house which we all enjoyed. It was particularly well set up for entertaining the children with the downstairs games room. The stairs were definitely a challenge for my in-laws but there is good step free access from the “garden” side of the house. The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking with all the pots and utensils you might need but it would be good to have a few more cooking basics included (there was no sugar or pepper for example). It would also have been good to know there was a Nespresso machine as we could have brought some pods from home (the one carton provided didn’t last us very long!). These were all minor points and we would recommend this house whole heartedly.
We stayed at this gorgeous property in December as we were visiting family in Devon. It catered for everyone and was a great space to entertain with the rest of the family who came to visit. We walked into Lyme Regis easily so the house was extremely well located. Would highly recommend this property.
Lovely well equipped house in Lyme. Convenient for all the shops, beach and sights of Lyme Regis. Welcome pack was a nice touch too. Whilst there we did the wine tasting at Furleigh Estate with Rebecca which was fabulous and very informative.
A fabulous property, spacious, well equipped, very clean with lovely bedrooms, communal areas & garden, and plenty of parking in the designated car park. They have thought of everything here, garden games, board games, films to watch, iPod docking station, pool/snooker, air hockey, table tennis and a very well equipped kitchen. Walking distance to the harbour, beach and shops, although quite a steep climb back up, but we didn't have any problem with that. We were a group of adults, but this property would suit families too. Excellent, highly recommended.

A fantastic place to stay in Lyme Regis
Had a great time in this luxurious holiday let. Plenty of space for all the family both inside and out. The gaming facilities were perfect for the children and the lounge offered plenty of space and peace for the grandparents. Parking was easy with a large dedicated car park (for 6+cars) just next to the house. And the beach and town were only a five minute walk. We will definitely return as an extended family group.
