Espargal is a 300-acre Rural Reserve Set in a Natural Park (PNSACV) only 3 kms from the historical village of Odemira. Capital of Southwest Alentejo, it has a modern network of commerce and services, concentrates a vast and preserved cultural diversity and landscape of sea, river, dam, mountain and plain. With an atlantic / mediterranean climate, adjusted for excess by the proximity of the sea and surrounding river, rainfall levels are low, annual sunshine hours exceed 2,700. A new emerging tourism enjoys genuine Mediterranean gastronomy in an environment of fauna and flora still untouched where the pedestrian routes (Vicentina Route) lead to discover innumerable wild beaches, intact forests, streams and waterfalls. Canoeing, bird watching, diving and surfing are referential activities. In Espargal, where more than 2/3 of its limit is formed by the Mira River, it is the place of choice for a sustained agricultural activity in the extensive breeding of “limousine” cows and calves with the necessary continued farming of wheat, ryegrass , mixed meadows and maize for animal feed. Extraction of cork, honey, arbutus and floral oils are complementary activities.(Espargal) A studio suite designed for a couple and two children maximum, has a private pier on the Mira River, providing a rural setting, huge tranquility, comfort and exclusivity.
