About this property

The Salt Pot - a cottage that sleep 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP

This lovely three bedroom cottage is in a quiet location and enjoys sea views from the lounge, front bedroom and balcony. It is a two minute walk down steps to the sea wall at Wheelers Bay. A decked roof terrace provides superb views across Wheelers Bay and over the Downs behind Ventnor, and is an ideal place to relax. For colder months there is a wood burning stove in the living room. Parking: There is FREE parking in Wheeler's Bay car park below the start of St Catherine Street (conditions apply and subject to availability), via Wheeler's Bay Road. There is also pedestrian access via some steps leading directly from the car park into St Catherine's Street.

This Victorian seaside town offers buildings full of character and is one of the sunniest spots on the Island. There's lovely sand/shingle beach and an esplanade which is all within a short stroll from the cottage. In addition to the main shopping street where you will find a selection of small supermarkets to include a Co-op and Tesco Express, there are parks and gardens, museums and the Winter Gardens - an entertainment venue with a growing reputation for its theatre and concerts. The renowned Ventnor Haven Fishery at the marina sells the daily catch of fresh fish and seafood; boat trips are also available from here.

There are a number of great restaurants in Ventnor or if you fancy a take-away to enjoy by the beach, the Ventnor Haven Fishery on the Esplanade sell fantastic fish and chips, locally caught and prepared to order.

Ventnor Botanic Garden lies in the remarkable microclimate at the heart of the famous Undercliff. This unique garden is protected from the cold northerly winds by chalk downs. In addition to enjoying the lovely gardens, it also hosts events and exhibitions and there is a restaurant and Cafe on-site for refreshments; lunch or coffee and cake.

From the esplanade you can take the level walk, along the sea wall to Bonchurch, or walk along the cliff path towards Steephill Cove, a beautiful sheltered bay only accessed by foot.

You will not be disappointed with your stay at this charming cottage it's the perfect location to have a truly unforgettable holiday experience.

A comfortable and well equipped cottage
The cottage was lovely; plenty of space for us and a well equipped kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the house very well cleaned. Despite awful weather, we enjoyed our stay on the IoW and the Salt Pot was a good bolt hole!

Salt pot
Great house and location ground floor shower slow to drain toaster blew ground floor sockets but power easily restored. Stylish interior with lovely art work. View of the sea was great easy to get around. I would definitely recommend this property and Ventnor is fab!

Comfortable and well-equipped holiday home
Couldn't have asked for more from a fully-modernised Victorian terraced house. Big kitchen-diner, comfortable lounge with Freeview TV, large master bedroom overlooking the sea, bathroom upstairs and shower wet room downstairs. Parking is away from the house, but there is a 24-hour car park a few steps away. Not so good for anyone with a physical disability, as the gradients to the seafront are very steep. A great experience and highly recommended.

Lovely stay in Ventnor
With this trip booked from the day lockdown restrictions were lifted, we were a little uncertain of what to expect. It was a relief to find a clean, well kept property. The house is perfectly located and was very comfortable for my family of 5 (+ dog!). We were also very impressed by Island Holiday Homes. The 2 members of staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful and all emailed communication was very clear. I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again and would recommend The Salt Pot to anyone looking for a comfortable and centrally located stay in Ventnor.
