Nice cozy retreat for big gathering.

Property management was very nice and good at communicating with us. It was a hidden gem of a place. Nice quiet place to have a big gathering for families. Over all a good place.

Great Location

Love the location. A bit for everyone to do from the trails, atv riding, fishing , farm animals and more. The owners are good people and our kiddos made a new friend with their daughter. I did read a lot of mixed reviews before we went so we went in aware that it is an older property. Michael was good at communicating when we got there about any unexpected things that weren’t working. Also you are in the middle of the Solana Forest so anticipate the mosquitoes and flies and other bugs in the cabins especially if you are coming and going. Over all most of the cabins were cozy and had that cabin in the woods feel.

Bachelor Party!

If you have a large group (30+) for a bachelor party or any celebration this location has everything you need. Multiple cabins with air conditioning, privacy, and Michael was kind of enough to let us rent massive wedding tents in case it rained so we could be outside in all weather conditions for a very reasonable price. The location was fantastic, about an hour to the casino and party buses in the area to rent. Michael was fantastic to work with, was very quick with communication, and is easy going. Highly recommend the Shire in the Woods!!

Everything we were looking for

This property gave me everything I was looking for: A lot of space for my guests, cabins of different sizes, outdoor recreation on-property and nearby, and enough sleeping accommodations for more than 30 people. The management staff were responsive and attentive. Mosquitos were out often, but that's expected in an outdoor/forested setting like this. I will strongly consider coming back the next time I have a group this large. Thanks Shire staff!

Family Camping Reunion

With an immediate family of 36, it’s quotes difficult to find accommodations to fit us all. This location filled the bill. Plenty of space for everyone to gather for meals together and have some alone time as well. Plenty of privacy and open areas for games, fire pit, and just relaxing together. All our questions were answered, but there were few: we had everything we needed.

Great experience!

Our family had a great time. We rented four cabins and were able to hang out on the property, walk in the woods, and escape to the octagon to avoid mosquitos. Beautiful view of the stars too! Michael was very friendly and helpful as a host. The only issue we ran into was a small inaccuracy with the number of beds in the octagon listing. We were able to shuffle around to make it work, and we will likely be back for a future reunion.

We had a great time staying at the cabins especially at the Octagon. Michael and his family are very welcoming. Very affordable for 5 cabins and 2 houses. Totally recommend!

A great place for a family reunion!

My extended family (about 28 were able to make it) held our reunion at The Shire following my daughter's wedding and the place worked out beautifully. The combination of different housing allowed separation and quiet time for individuals and families while allowing us to be in close proximity. We did most of our cooking at the Cedar House, while the Octagon was large enough to hold everyone for meals, games and movies during the rainy day. It was a little buggy, but anyone staying in the middle of MN in July should be expecting that! Michael and his family were very responsive to questions and are obviously invested in making their guests feel welcome and comfortable. We would definitely recommend The Shire!
