Stay could not have gone better. Location was ideal and property was clean and well maintained. Check in was easy and got notification that if we arrived early, the property was available. Will stay again when in the area.
The property was just right for our family of four. I wish I had paid more attention to beach access as one of our boys has mobility issues and the location made getting to the water a little more difficult, but overall it was a lovely vacation. The weather was perfect, the water was amazing, waves were fun, and the house was well-appointed with some small touches that made it feel comfortable.

Nice place
Nice place &clean typical beach cottage a little to close to main road rt12 road noise but all&all a good stay
The house provided a great location for exploring the area. Easy walk to the beach and restaurants. The kitchen had everything we needed for some home cooked meals as well, including a knife set that was the sharpest I've encountered in a VRBO. All of the decks provided space for our family to spread out, relax and take it all in.
This is a clean, tastefully decorated, well-appointed cute cottage at a great location. Within minutes walking distance to both the Sound and the Ocean. Also centrally located to explore towns to the North like Duck as well as the ones to the South like Hatteras (and beyond - we took the Ocracoke ferry and had a great day in that area too). There are stores and restaurants that are walking distance too. We found everything we needed (and tons of things that families with kids would appreciate) at the cottage. Highly recommend.
This was our fourth summer at Happy Hours and we’ve already booked for next year. This place is the BEST! The host Megan is wonderful and the house is absolutely perfect. If you want to see the most beautiful sunsets on the sound, this is the house for you!
We loved it as soon as we walked in. They had it decorated for Christmas and it was such a surprise. It was just me and my husband and it was perfect especially since they allow pets.It is well stocked with nearly anything you may want to cook with and plenty of dishes, cutlery and pots and pans. The only reason I gave it a 4 star for location is because it’s perfect for off season-I would say from Oct to May-because it right on the road and next door to a tackle shop but otherwise the views of the sound was very good.
My family and I had a great week at Megan’s house. The location was perfectly located for us. On the bike path, near CHNS beaches and the quaint shops and recreational activities on the sound & ocean in the tri-village area. The house is very nicely decorated. We enjoyed the backyard bbq grill and fire pit. The back lounge/ covered porch with the hammock was nice to hang out in too. Sunsets on the top deck were gorgeous!! I would recommend maybe a table or simple dining area in the front of the house bc it was cooler there with that late afternoon sun still blazing in the rear of the house. Overall, highly recommend Megan’s house in Rodanthe for a great OBX experience!! PS love the Friday to Friday rental- thanks again, Megan!!
We absolutely LOVED Happy Hours! The house was beautifully decorated with a light, beachy, decor, everything was immaculate, towels were fresh and fluffy, sheets were soft, bed was super comfortable, kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need, but the best part of all was the sunset views from the upper deck. Watching that spectacular show every night as the sun exploded into the horizon was an awesome way to end the day. It’s also hard to peel yourself away when you’re having coffee on the deck in the morning, watching the pelicans dive for breakfast. The house is located on a somewhat busy road, but you really don’t notice the traffic because the views out back are so beautiful. The house was perfect for our older dog because the stairs were carpeted and the deck is gated which makes it nice to relax outside where they can roam freely. Our dog is a veteran traveler so he’s used to coming with us on our trips, but have to say I’ve never seen him so happy as he was at this place. He loved watching the people coming and going from the bait shop next door, hanging on the upper and lower decks with us, and walking the nice yard out back. In addition to the great accommodations, the host Megan was very responsive through our booking process and our stay, which was great. We have already started making our plans for next year!

Thank you for the amazing review, I’m so happy that you & your family (including your puppy of course) enjoyed the cottage & it’s surroundings to the fullest! Please come again anytime
We enjoyed the "Happy Hours" cottage due to its price/value at Rodanthe, a good location to the Cape Hatteras Island National Seashore beaches and Oregon Inlet.
This is our second year visiting Happy Hours and we’re already booked for next year. This property is immaculate and has lovely views of the Sound. The sunsets are truly amazing! The host Megan is wonderful and the location is perfect. It’s minutes from the public beach and close to restaurants and shops. The house has everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable. You will love your stay here!!
All good from our view. One exception, please provide the next guest with the correct internet passcode beforehand. It matters whether the initial letter is capital or not. In our email the passcode started with a capital letter and it should not have. Caused some issues getting in. Otherwise, we had a great trip and a nice stay. Loved the bedroom balconies in the evening.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Happy Hours. The cottage was perfect for our four-day stay. The beach décor is lovely (feels like summertime inside the house even though it's February). We like Rodanthe's location - not too far from Avon or Hatteras to the south and not a long drive for a day trip to Manteo to the north. We hope to return.
At the last minute, we decided to see if we could squeeze in a week on the OBX. We came across Megan’s property and it happened to be available. Talk about striking gold! The location of the house is within walking distance to everything including a 10 minute walk to the beach. The house itself surpassed our expectations ten-fold! Great layout, views and the place had everything you would need and then some. I’ve already mentioned it to a number of friends and family. If you’re looking for a place that has it all, this is it regardless of the time of year.

Excellent vacation place for a small family. Cozy and comfortable, down-to-earth and relaxing.
5 minute walk to the beach, 2 minutes to the bay. It is very convenient to launch a canoe or kayak from there.
The house is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked-up. The floors are kid- and pet-friendly, easy to clean from sand.
Note the hose next to the entrance and the summer shower at the backyard. We found the latter a few days after our arrival, when decided to use the grill.
Definitely recommend the place for your stay!
Very cute and beachy. Pet friendly. Wrap around deck with gates to keep my dog secure. Place was so clean. Fully stocked kitchen. No dishwasher but with the view of the sound washing dishes wasn't a big deal.
