The area was settled early 19th century & locals say in late 19th century this area was a busy small village on the road to Sinking Creek and the Rockcastle River. Old home foundations dot the landscape. The cabin sits in the front of our 22 acres adjoining the Daniel Boone National Forest. Completed in 2016, Forest Cabin is now open for guests! Please consider a visit, you will experience nature at its finest!

Great little cabin in the woods!

Great cabin for two, clean, and our hosts were great. We used this as a “home base” for hiking in the area. It was pretty centrally located for hiking the Red River Gorge (Northeast) and Cumberland Falls (South) areas. Thank you for a great vacation!

Relaxing, quiet and a little home away from home

We rented this property as a getaway for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. It did not disappoint! We had a very quiet and relaxing stay at this little cabin in the woods. Will definitely be back. The hosts have thought of everything. Everything is there and in excellent condition. Just pack a bag, grab some groceries and head on out!

Woodsy

We enjoyed this off the beaten path cabin with modern amenities. Made good use of the fire ring and gas grill. Saw more spiders than we'd hoped to, but we survived them. Duke's company was welcome, while Yoda seemed to have a lot on his mind. Thanks Carey And Sue for your hospitality and allowing us to enjoy your woods.

Relaxing and serene. Cabin is perfectly located in Daniel Boon National Forest!

Cabin is a roomy one room cabin with everything we needed. We enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch with a beautiful view of the rising sun and full moon while we were there! We enjoyed running and walking on the local roads. We hiked the sheltowee trail and found several other trails to hike that are tucked in the hills of DBNF. Carie and Sue provided everything one needs at the cottage. They also provided many Trail maps and area brochures. Fire pit area and hammock for two add to the relaxation provided at the cottage.

Perfect little cabin!

My wife & I stayed at this cute little cabin while visiting family in London, Kentucky. It is located 8-1/2 miles west of I-75 off Hwy 80. It is the perfect little cabin. It is peaceful and quite with NO other cabins around. It is small and charming, yet has internet, satellite TV, and all the normal amenities to make the stay enjoyable. Everything was included – towels, soap, shampoo, paper towels, toilet paper. One thing worth noting is the tankless water heater that allow back to back showers with no wait time in between. You will enjoy your stay!

What an Amazing Place

So wonderfully peaceful. Remote enough to feel that you are away from the chaos of everyday life, yet, close enough to town if you need something. What a great combination. You could see the care and attention to detail that Carey and Sue put into the cabin to make their guests feel at home. The amenities were abundant and beyond expectation, and the surroundings were tranquil and serene. There was little to no traffic on the road in front of the cabin, which was completely different than other places I have stayed. If you are looking for a place that is quiet, cozy, comfortable, and complete, this is the one for you. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful seclusion in Daniel Boone National Forest

Carey met me at the church down the road as cell service can be a little spotty. Upon entering the cabin I was pleasantly surprised to see how much care the owners had put into setting up this cabin. The interior felt very new and was extremely clean. Anything you needed from camping chairs, firewood, board games, and even a telescope was already at the cabin. My favorite part of my visit was the hammock resting between two trees at the back of the cabin. I must have laid there for hours just relaxing and looking at the forest before me. The cabin also had satellite TV service with premium channels like HBO and showtime which was a nice bonus. Also, cell service was fine once I reached the cabin. The cabin felt very secluded and only had the occasional car driving down the road every now and then. I look forward to coming back and exploring more of the area.

Lovely property and well equipped; wish I'd planned a third night.

The cabin was easy to find; very well appointed; quiet -- except for the birds, and as I was there to see and hear the birds, I loved it. I would recommend it to anyone (one or two people) looking for a cozy, snug, and super comfortable, clean place to stay in the area. Two nights were not enough. I wished I'd planned a third night. For some reason, I had in my head this would be a more remote location, meaning no one "for miles." But: my misperception. Daniel Boone National Forest is not (any longer) the forest primeval I'd pictured. There were a couple neighbors, though not close enough to hear or see so don't let this discourage you. And maybe being less remote than expected is fine. My friends were worried about any encounters I might have with bears. I saw no bears.

We escaped to the woods over 2 decades ago & love living in the forest! We have lived & visited all over the US and love where we live in the wild & scenic Daniel Boone National Forest, it's like camping with all your stuff! Carey is the full-time host & property manager, while Sue, not yet retired, works behind the scenes in the home office, making sure the bills get paid, the taxes filed & keeping up with our online listings.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this hand-crafted cabin built in 2012 in 2015. It perfectly squares off a corner to the front of our property and we offer this cozy vacation home for your enjoyment. Our 22-acre property borders the Daniel Boone National Forest along the northwest boundary and is about midway between Woods Creek Lake to the north, Laurel Lake to the south, City of London to the east and the Wild and Scenic Rockcastle River to the west. The natural beauty, peace and solitude in the general area is what really drew us here. Our cozy cabin in the Daniel Boone National Forest is in a rural, forested area. Close enough to the modern world yet far enough away to escape daily life and traffic. Its always 10 degrees cooler here in the woods! The Daniel Boone National Forest in the Appalachian foothills is a temperate, mixed mesophytic appalachian rain forest with amazing and unique flora, fauna & biota. You'll marvel at the sandstone karst terrain and caves found in this unique area. We love our little piece of the forest and hope you will too!

What makes this property unique

Many of our guests tell us how this area is every bit as beautiful as the Red River Gorge & Great Smoky Mountain areas minus all the traffic and we agree! Conveniently located 5 miles down White Oak Road in London, Kentucky. Exit 41, 80W. midway between Wood Creek Lake and Laurel River Lake. Maximum 2 guests, this cozy studio cabin is perfect place to escape from it all. Very little traffic noise & nice dark night sky, you won't see another house in your tiny cabin in the woods! We offer many amenities over the local hotel room. "It's less expensive and better than the Hampton Inn" per a recent guest. This is a great place to get away from it all! At 358 sq. ft. this is "tiny home" living at its best. Relax on the porch rocking chairs, hammock for 1 or 2, grill & chill at the picnic table in the yard or roast marshmallows for S'mores at the firepit in the yard, firewood supplied. It's like camping with all your stuff! There's so much to see and do, all within driving distance. Located off a winding, twisty road in the heart of the wild and beautiful Daniel Boone National Forest in London, Kentucky, this is a great place to watch birds and wildlife and unwind. Walk down White Oak Road or hike thru the rugged DBNF to Sinking Creek or drive along rugged forest roads to many lakes, attractions & State & National Parks: London Dragway, Cane Creek WMA, Wood Creek Lake, Laurel Lake, Rockcastle River, Sheltowee Trace Trail, Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park, beautiful Sinking Valley and Short Creek, Sinking Valley Winery, Camp Wildcat, Cumberland Falls & more! With over 40 years-experience in food manufacturing and quality assurance, you can be sure that this great little home in the woods will be sparkling clean and disinfected/sanitized prior to your arrival! We follow all CDC guidelines on COVID-19 cleaning/disinfecting and we are up to date with vaccines!
