The Shore is a beautifully decorated 1 bedroom cottage in the quaint fishing village of St Monans. The property is accessed via the rear of the building but there is seating at both the front and the back. for guests use. We have set the theme of this 1 bedroom cottage to coastal Blues with white washed wooden floors. We have tried to create a tranquil soothing atmosphere in which you can relax into as soon as you walk through the door. The open plan spacious lounge has a large sofa bed(FOR BOOKINGS OF 3 PEOPLE OR MORE) and a table / 4 chairs for dining on the catch of the day.... There is a window seat to sit and watch the sparkling waters of the shore below. There is a brand new wet room with a powerful shower. Everything has been thought of to make your holiday memorable including Wifi, DVDs, Board games, Barbecue. There is an outside seating area with a bistro set and this catches the afternoon sunshine perfectly! Just a gentle stroll will take you to some of the best restaurants and cafes in East Neuk. A personal favourite -The East Pier Smokehouse!

The property was very clean, and well equipped for self catering simple cooking. It was relatviely spacious. Both the double bed and sofa bed were very comfortable. The wifi worked well. It was a great base for exploring the Fife coastal villages, and St Modan's has an excellent smoked fish restaurant.
I had a lovely stay. Beach style decor.really cozy bed.well equiped

Super cottage
Delightful cottage apartment overlooking sea in Fife fishing village on coastal path. Apartment is very well equipped and beautifully furnished. Can thoroughly recommend.
The property was spotless and impressive. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept like logs.
Obviously, the weather was excellent which made walking the coastal path an absolute joy.
I would have no hesitation in recommending to family and friends.
When we are next down for a break in the East Neuk of Fife I would gladly stay at the Shore as we thoroughly enjoyed the break.
The Shore is a very cosy and comfortable one bedroom cottage/flat. It is very well-equipped, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean.
It was very easy to communicate with the host and nothing was too much trouble.
The area is very beautiful with plenty to do, including beach walks, exploring the villages of the East Neuk of Fie, and enjoying the lovely cafes, pubs and restaurants .
The cottage is an ideal base for discovering this charming part of Fife.
We thoroughly enjoyed our short break at the Shore and would recommend it to others.

Hi Brian, I'm really sorry to hear that you weren't happy with the property and didn't end up staying. The listing does state that the entrance is via the back of the property, and the photographs are an accurate representation of the interiors of the house. I'm disappointed to hear you think this is misleading. The windows can be opened and are opened by the cleaners each time the property is changed to air the rooms. It is also disheartening to hear that you felt the bedroom was damp as this has never been mentioned by any other guests. The house is fully fitted with gas central heating and is aired regularly as mentioned above. With regards to the toilet/shower not being what you are familiar with, we're sorry to hear this, however it is clearly stated in the property listing that the bathroom is a wet room. Within the welcome instructions it explains that parking is on the street outside of the house and this hasn't been an issue for other guests. As you were only in the property very briefly without staying, I feel your comments are unfair and not an accurate representation of our holiday let. We're sorry you found this wasn't for you.

Misleading descriptions
The living room/kitchen and bedroom were ok, although the window seat cushion was dirty, window frames filthy, windows dirty. Also the view was a dirty wall, not the sea sparkling on the shore. The shower room had a worn floor, you had to scrape water into the drain after a shower, or you got wet feet when using the toilet. The outside seating was in a dirty back yard/passage and to reach the property you had to walk past stinking, overflowing bins.

New lights? Not sure what this means as lights are all modern and there are lamps in each room. The lounge and kitchen area has a overhead light and spots in the kitchen along with the lamp. We have deliberately left the painted floor boards exposed and there are rugs in the lounge and hall and the bedroom is fully carpeted. All this is visible in the photos on the site. However thank you for your feedback albeit an unfair 2 star review and remarkably different from previous guests thoughts.

A feeling of being mis led.
We left a day early. We have a feeling of being mis led. The front door you see is not the entrance you use. We had to go down a weed infested alley with bins. The table and chairs you see were actually in an awful dark damp corner at the end of this alley way by our entry door. Just awful. And you only get told about this rear entry the day before, and for obvious reasons we feel. Photos taken by us if needed.

Well this is a first for us, leaving early because you were upset having to use the back entrance?? The weed infested alleyway? The "weeds" are flowers and plants that are common coastal flora in this area. There was no deliberate intent by sending the information the day before you arrived. This is standard letting practices. The flat faces onto the sea / coast and there is a bench / seating area to the front of the property. The table and chairs beside the door are there as this area is a sun trap in the spring / summer months. Thanks for your comments but think your 2 star review is very harsh.
The cottage was just as advertised, clean and tidy with lovely decor and well situated within St Monans in order to visit the East neuk of Fife! Communication with owner was great!
Beautiful little apartment in a stunning seaside village
I stayed here for 4 nights in May 2021 as a chill-out getaway from a hectic few months of non-stop work in Edinburgh.
What a discovery! The apartment was exactly as described, beautifully furnished, clean and extremely quiet. Communication with the host was excellent, especially given I booked my stay at the very last minute.
St Monans is a beautiful little fishing village on the Fife Coastal walk and, thanks to the unusually nice sunny weather (for Scotland!) I spent my days exploring the villages up and down the coast. What a fantastic few days I had and I'm really hoping I get the chance to come back again sometime soon!
Internally the property lived up to all expectations. It was light, warm and comfortable and tastefully decorated with a coastal theme. The bed was comfortable and warm important as it was below freezing each night. It was well equipped with additional touches such as Scottish fine soap products in the bathroom. We were celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversary, our host very kindly left a card and bottle of wine for us which was really thoughtful.
Externally the entrance is at the rear of the property which was a little confusing as the front door, which is locked, opens into the living area. The property is located on an attractive street looking over red roofs to the sea.
