I’ve been working with the kind owners of Mas Dalt since 1998, We make quite a good team. I'm good at presenting the villa and taking care of their bookings, and they are good at maintaining the villa and taking good care of guests while they are here. Set on a private hillside estate 🌳, this historic Catalan property is quite unique. It has been restored and expanded to now legally accommodate 17 bedrooms with beds for 34+ guests, a rarity in the region where most villas cap at 12 bedrooms and 20 or so guests.

Trusted villa brokers online since 1997, Charlie and Maria offer some of the best villas in the area and for the lowest rental rates. How do we do it? Let's just say we got in early, starting over 25 years ago, and we are working with proprietors who have owned their houses in most cases for generations. This translates into savings for you for obvious reasons (for example, recent owners need to charge very high rental rates in order to make back the huge investments involved in buying a large villa these days)...
In any case, you would do well to work with an intermediary offering the kind of services we offer. There is no extra cost to you, and working within the framework we offer takes a lot of the guesswork out of booking a rental.
We have an established reputation and you can be sure of what you are getting when you rent one of our properties! Every year I get calls from people who were in touch and then decided to go it alone and some of them show up at a non-exisiting villa, having pre-paid the full rental. I don't want to be a scare-mongerer, but you should be aware that this sort of scam exists.
All the villas we work with are offically controlled and inspected and are registered and licensed by the local tourism boards. In fact, our rental contrats - available in English and French as well as Spanish and Catalan - are provided by the tourism board and provide a further guarantee to the holiday_maker.
I encourage people not to go it alone but if you do, make sure you check on the bona fides of those you are in contact with.
Ah, another thing we provide are time-tested and true directions to the property from any point of entry into Catalonia, as well as lots of information on the area around the houses.
Our Insider's Guide to the Province of Girona is 94 A-4 sized pages long and describes in detail 10 routes you can follow by car thoughtout the region, with info sites and sights, restaurants, beaches, etc, as well as insider tips.

Why they chose this property
This property is unique. There are very few villas that are licensed for 17 bedrooms and with beds for up to 40 or so guests. How did the owners manage that? Well, the trick was to divide the huge houses into 2 different apartments, one with 10 large bedrooms and the other with 3 large bedrooms, and then reconstruct what was theen a barn just above the pool into another 4 bedroom villa, making a total of 17 bedrooms.
The thing is, the different living areas are all very nice and roomy and well-appointed. It isn't as if the separate apartments were crammed into an existing space. Each apartment has full kitchen and living room and dining room and outdoor barbecue area.
In fact, in the off-season the apartment can be rented separately. But the idea is to accommodate large groups, family reunions and the like, and there are indoor and outdoor common areas for large gatherings of all guests, both indoors and outdoors.
The thing is, the different living areas are all very nice and roomy and well-appointed. It isn't as if the separate apartments were crammed into an existing space. Each apartment has full kitchen and living room and dining room and outdoor barbecue area.
In fact, in the off-season the apartment can be rented separately. But the idea is to accommodate large groups, family reunions and the like, and there are indoor and outdoor common areas for large gatherings of all guests, both indoors and outdoors.
What makes this property unique
The earliest traces of this stone mansion dates back to the mid-15th C & there are a lot of unique features that anyone would consider outstanding.
For example, the main living room in the 10 bedroom part of the villa is over 120m2, with very high ceilings, and has been used for many sort of gatherings and events, from groups practacing yoga to tango dancing... This is a nice huge indoor space to fall back on should there be rain (god forbid) and the outdoor terraces are no longer where you want to be.
The terrace just above the pool is perfect for outdoor meals, and the covered barbecue area between the terrace and the large kitchen can also seat all guests in a fun old-fashioned setting under stone arches. Nothing is missing, and along with the barbecue there are gas rings for cooking paella.
Cooks & catering are available too. I will send you a list of options to choose from.
