About this property

Home from home to come back to after a day spent exploring the Island.

If you are visiting the Island, with or without a plan, would like you to tap into our vast knowledge of the area in order to get the maximum

Our house is in the village of Back, 7 miles from Stornoway. We are on a working croft which gives access to the beach (bring your wellies! ).
The house has two double bedrooms (kingsize), two twin rooms, two bathrooms and two sitting areas, with one of each on each floor.
There is ample free parking for there cars in the secluded garden to the rear of the house.
We have a small utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities.
A barbecue for cooking the fish you caught in the nearby Gress river or any of the numerous lochs out on the moor.
Bird watchers are provided for with a selection of nesting birds around the mouth of the river, saltings and the forest.
Free wi fi is available throughout the house and oil central heating and electricity are included.

We had a lovely time staying in the house, it was so homely and had everything needed for a stay. Great walk down to the beach and easy drive into Stornoway and beyond. Loved the house and the Islands.

Beautiful location

Spacious house in a beautiful location with a beach and lots of nice scenery nearby. The house was comfortable to stay in. Callum was extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. He had lots of recommendations for exploring the island and was very welcoming.

Wonderful stay on a beautiful island

The house was perfect, really well laid out and ideal for our needs with the four bedrooms, two bathrooms and two lounges. It was close to beaches and to Stornaway.Calum was very kind and welcoming, we really enjoyed our stay, thank you very much.

The house is lovely and comfortable. It had everything we needed in the kitchen and living space. Very quiet location and so nice to have a washer & dryer. The hosts, Jan & Colum, were easy to reach and very friendly. We were welcomed with a wee Scottish breakfast in the refrigerator when we arrived. Would definitely recommend!

A lovely place to stay

We had a wonderful stay. The property is lovely with lots of homely touches. The hosts were really friendly and helpful - from a warm welcome with some milk and eggs in the fridge to advice about what to do on the island. I particularly enjoyed looking at the view from the sitting room in the light summer evenings.

Lovely house, lovely hosts

This home was booked at last minute as we had been staying with family and things were getting too crowded.Callum met us on arrival and showed us round the house, he also kindly provided us with a travel cot for our 2 3 month old babies the house was lovely and the view from the sitting room was great. A breakfast was also provided for the first morning which was a nice touch. I would highly recommend this property.

Fabulous stay at The Old Croft House in Back

The Old Croft House is very clean and comfortable and has everything a guest might want, from a well-stocked kitchen to beach towels, games, maps and some really interesting books about the Western Isles. Jan and Callum are fabulous hosts who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, from tracking down wetsuits for hire to providing delicious, freshly baked muffins. They were hugely helpful and made us feel really welcome - we would definitely recommend The Old Croft House as a place to stay.

Blissful week

The property was exactly as it looked in the pictures, it was airy, clean and spacious with lots of room for the whole group to get together but plenty of quieter space for some 'me time'. We already know the island and have lots of family there and Jan and Callum offered to come and extend our table if they were coming over, asked where we needed safety gates and provided top class toddler safe equipment. The weather was great so we made very good use of the local.beaches and garden too. Great hosts and we look forward very much to coming and staying again if we may.

Wonderful Stay

Great property, nice for our family, but would also work really well with 2 families staying together as 2 bedrooms are upstairs and two down. The two living rooms are also great for doing separate activities. The house has been really well maintained and has everything you could need in the kitchen, plus 2 smart tvs, wifi, games and books about the area. The owner lived across the road and was so kind, met us when we arrived and was chatty and interesting, but didn't intrude on us at all. We only saw him again when we asked a question and he responded really quickly. We stayed 9 days, arriving late on Saturday. He made sure we had a fridge full of everything we would need for breakfast on Sunday as the shops are mostly shut (including some stornoway black pudding). We don't usually go back to the same place twice on holiday, but if we do return we would definitely stay here. The location is also great- nice and near several lovely beaches. Thank you for a great trip!

Great home, location and hosts!

We were a large group staying at the property for 4 nights. The place was just perfect. There was enough space, every utensil or item you needed was there, everything was good quality, the beds and towels were soft and comfortable. We made full use of everything we could, including the lovely little walk to the serene+almost secluded beach, the great BBQ facilities and the Internet TVs and fireplaces. We would absolutely stay here again in the future without hesitation. Callum and Jan were the perfect hosts! Thank you both - look forward to seeing you again! Latifa and Family

Fantastic holiday

We've had a wonderful holiday in Lewis. The property was in a great location, very well equipped and comfortable (also spotlessly clean). The owners were incredibly welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend the property.
