Large mountain chalet with sauna near the ski lifts of Crans-Montana

Built in 1923 'Combaz7' may be the oldest `Bed and Breakfast` left in Montana. First named 'La Clairière', it was then called 'Cité Joie' before being renamed last year to ' Combaz7 ' after the street address.

This chalet situated at 1,500 metres altitude and enjoying the fantastic views over the Rhone Valley including tops such as the Weisshorn (4505), the Matterhorn / Cervin (4477), is a perfect base for your ski holidays in Crans-Montana. The chalet is located close to the Montana funiculair station and within easy reach to the ski lifts with a 5 minute free shuttle bus transfer to either Violettes or Signal.

The large size of the chalet makes it suitable for extended family gatherings and smaller company group reunions. A Gallery Annexe linked to the house but with separate entrance is not included in this rental.


Bed and Breakfast from 1923: Built originally in 1923 as a Bed and Breakfast, it is today during the winter season rented as a high-end ski chalet to large families or company groups. During the low season it becomes an art residency where artists come to seek inspiration, work and exhibit their art.

The chalet has gone through extensive refurbishments to reach today's modern standards and contemporary style.

Property description: The chalet has 8 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 1 large semi-professional kitchen, 3 smaller kitchens, a sauna and 2 large common areas including 1 TV room, 1 loft style living room
The bedrooms:
- 2 bedrooms have a queen size bed (140cmx200cm)
- 3 bedrooms with twin beds (90x200/bed)
- 3 bedrooms have adjustable bunk beds (single, double, triple)
The bathrooms:
- 3 bathrooms have both shower and bath tub
- 1 shower rooms on the ground floor

How to get there: As the chalet is located at walking distance to the the Montana funicular station, transfer from Geneva airport is easily done by public transportation only.

The chalet has 4 outdoor parking place but the use of a car is not necessary within the resort as a free shuttle bus is available during the high season.

Although ski lifts of Montana and Violette can be reached by foot, it will take you only 5 minutes to reach them by bus .

The centre of Montana is reachable within less than 10 minutes walk through a shopping alley and the center of Crans within less than 20 minutes walk along the lakes.

Beautiful stay

We had a lovely summer holiday at the chalet, it was very spacious with lots of rooms which suited our family very well. The hosts were lovely and very helpful throughout the stay. It was very clean and had all modern amenities, while still retaining a classic Swiss chalet feel. Highly recommended!

Super, cosy, lived in, central chalet.

Super location a minutes walk from the funicular and bus stops into town and the lifts. Chalet was ideal for our large group of friends, plenty of bedrooms to choose from and two lounging areas to relax in. Fabulous kitchen with a long dinning table and enough chairs and room for us all to spend the evenings having dinner, playing cards etc together. The kitchen is well equipped with an industrial range and dishwasher. Lots of equipment, crockery and utensils. The sauna was used every evening and the heated boot room was welcomed by the skiers. The chalet is worn and homely which makes it more relaxing. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely home and host

We stayed with a large family of 13 ages 18 - 72. The home accommodated all of us comfortably. There are multiple rooms allowing for different configurations of where people can stay. It was ideally located for us just across from the funicular station and next to a bus stop with free busses all around the town. It is 2 stops from either of the ski area base lifts and downtown Montana. It had everything you need for a large group in terms of beds, rooms, kitchen supplies, bathrooms, and comfortable spaces for sitting and gathering. There is a large dining room for group dinners. It is comfortable, but not luxurious. It has an industrial kitchen and eclectic furniture. Mats, our host, was friendly, helpful, and warm. If you have a large group and need space to be apart and together, need a good location in Crans Monatana that is affordable, this is perfect. Thank you, Mats, for hosting us.

Schönes komfortables Haus geeignet für grosse Gruppen

Wir haben eine sehr schöne Skiwoche in einer grossen Gruppe verbracht, 17 Personen von 5 bis 80 Jahren. Dank der Grösse und guten Aufteilung des Hauses war es sehr angenehm und nie zu eng oder zu voll. Die Lage ist sehr praktisch zum Skifahren im Skigebiet Crans-Montana, ein Auto ist vor Ort nicht notwendig. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Vermieter, die gute Küchenausstattung, die bequemen Matratzen und die neuen Bäder, kurz: der Charme eines alten Hauses ist hier kombiniert mit den Annehmlichkeiten von heute. Sehr schön und sehr zu empfehlen!

Uriges Chalet für grosse Gruppen

Im Chalet habe ich meinen 40ten gefeiert. Der Platz reicht locker für 30 Leute, wenn man nicht vor einem Matratzenlager 2 Räume mit je 8 Leuten zurück schreckt. Zusätzlich gibt es die zwei grossen Wohnzimmer und die Küche für die Gemeinschaft. Das Chalet hat alles, was man braucht um so viele Leute zu beherbergen. Die Sauna ist topp und bietet bequem Platz für 4. Dieser Ort ist für grosse Feiern wirklich wärmstens zu empfehlen. Danke and Phits und Mats.

A group of 16 of us had a week skiing. We were self catering and the kitchen facilities were up to the task - the industrial style dishwasher was particularly helpful. There is also a lounge area on each floor so that different groups can be doing different things at the same time - the kids playing games lower down while the grown ups socialize on another floor.

Chalet agréable par sa taille et sa position

Chalet sur 4 niveaux avec un petit jardin derrière. Cuisine salle à manger machines et emplacements pour les affaires de ski au rez de chaussée avec un système de chauffage des chaussures et des gants. Chaque étage est indépendant avec chambres et salle de bains . Situé au bord de la route donc quasiment rien à déneiger. Bus pour le ski à 50 mètres. Idéal pour une grande famille. Le gardien des lieux accourt en cas de problème. Il est très serviable et expérimenté. Nous étions 6 adultes avec 7 enfants et deux bébés. Parkings pour trois voitures en face du chalet . Il manque une notice d'utilisation pour l'allumage de la cuisinière à gaz. Deux grands salons pour se retrouver le soir. Une seule télé fonctionnait sur les 3 installées. WIFI performant. Avons passés une semaine au moment du grand froid sans gêne car le chalet est très bien chauffé. La famille a beaucoup apprécié le sauna et tout le chalet. La salle à manger est ouverte sur le salon et l'escalier, une porte pour le salon et une barrière pour l'escalier empêcheraient les enfants de 2 à 3 ans de monter dans l'escalier.

Kitchen with all amenities,large enough fridge and 4 pits and an oven for cooking. Industrial dishwasher, very convenient. Made good use of the two tv rooms on 1st and 2nd floor, with our group of 16 we split up between a reading/study room , a tv/ games room and the remainder of the group chatting over coffee or a drink in the kitchen. Large sauna for 4 persons. Squeaky beds and doors as the house is quite old, but the bathrooms are renovated and very well equipped.

Chalet chalereux spacieux et très bien équipé dans une très belle station de skie

On a passé de très belle vacances familiales dans ce grand chalet très bien agencé , très confortable et bien situé. Parking assuré, mais pas besoin de prendre la voiture. Le service de bus impeccable et juste à côté . On beaucoup apprécié la cuisine industriel , le sauna et les espaces en commun . Chambres et salles de bain confortables et propres . Malgré le manque de neige Crans Montana nous a offert de nombreuses balades , un expo de masques aux art'collections et même une excursion à Wiler dans la vallée du Lötschental qu'on a adorée (visite de l'ateliers et musée de la famille qui garde la tradition de masques!) . Station ensoleillé . Commerces à proximités . On peut certainement conseiller à nos amis et connaissances!
