Loved our stay - felt like family holiday house
This is a fantastic place to stay.
Close to lots of great places to eat, supermarkets to self cater, places to go to see / do activities.
It is really comfortable & you feel at home immediately
Rita was fantastic at responding to any queries we had & we felt like we were staying with a family friend despite not knowing Rita or ever staying before
Do check out the fridge & cupboards before you do a grocery shop when you arrive - it seems like the sort of place where guests leave their non perishable items for the next guest to use - we turned up to a fridge stocked with beer & most of the pantry staples already there
Really close to a great bay for snorkelling with turtles - 2 min drive & free! (best spot we found when we drove all over the big island)
We had a fantastic time on the big island - highlights were
- snorkelling with manta rays - we went with Kona Snorkel Trips - they were fantastic - I would do this again with the same company in a heartbeat
- hiking - Waipio Valley & Pololu Valley were both breathtaking
- Volcano National Park
- bodysurfing - tips from one of the locals - try Honomalino Beach, Kahaluu Beach, white Sands Beach, Banyans, Honi's Beach, Kohanaiki Beach, Makalawena Beach, Kua Bay, Keawaiki (lone palm) Beach or Hapuna Beach (waipio & pololu were also pretty good surf & easy to bodysurf)
- Places we really enjoyed for food / drinks - lava lava beach club at Waikoloa, Fish House at Waimea for poke, Roys Bar & Grill at Waikoloa, Jackie Rays, Umekes, Kona Brewing, Sushi Ono at Kailua Kona, Super J's Hawaiian on way back from Captain Cook Bay or VNP
any future guests - I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did
Thank you so much Rita for sharing your home with us
