Sissinghurst Stables in the Garden of England, sleeps 5, large enclosed garden.
‘Sissinghurst Stables’ are located up a long 'gated' private drive just outside the village of Sissinghurst in Kent. It is a calm tranquil space with two bedrooms, a kitchen with a comfortable seating area looking out on to the terrace and large private fenced garden. A bathroom with a deep bath and rain shower over and a separate toilet. There is also a snug tv room for cosy evenings. The master bedroom has a comfortable king size bed with great quality linens and the second bedroom has a bunk bed with a mezzanine floor where a single fold out mattress can be made up for a third child. The decor is inspired by the beautiful countryside and gardens around us.
Sissinghurst Castle Gardens are just down the road and there are numerous other National Trust and British Heritage properties close by, including Leeds Castle, Scotney Castle, Bodiam Castle and Dover Castle. Pashley Manor Gardens, Great Dixter and Hole Park. Bedgebury Pinetum with it's fantastic woodland children's trail is 15 minutes drive and Rye and Camber Sands on the Coast 40 minutes away. Lots to see and do!
We have a fantastic local pub ‘The Milkhouse’ a ten minute walk away through the woods and fields, and our local small town Cranbrook is a five minute drive.
We live in the main house with our two friendly dogs Yogi and Hebe and are on hand if you need any assistance or information during your stay but only if you want us to be! We mainly use eco cleaning & washing products, avoid plastics, wash and dry our laundry on site and recycle as much as possible to do our bit for sustainable travel.

We had a lovely 4-night stay at The Stables. Emma was helpful and surprised us with some delicious homemade Easter cupcakes half way through our stay. The place was quiet, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The two dogs were adorable and very friendly. Private parking was much appreciated. It's in a great location for exploring the local area and we would definitely stay here again when we visit Kent again.

Great location for visiting Kent, it's National Trust properties & the coast.
Lovely , high quality homely place to stay. More spacious than you may think from the photos. A great bathroom that will have you counting the tiles! We all had a relaxing stay including the dog.

We couldn't have had a nicer stay at The Stables! Emma went over and above to make us feel at home, from tea and biscuits to fresh arrangements from her garden. A delightful place with every amenity thought of, perfect for the 3 of us. Thank you, Emma! We highly recommend The Stables!

We spent a glorious week in the Stables. Lots to do in the area and the cottage was lovely. Comfortable bed, great bathroom amenities, and a kitchen with everything you might need (no microwave however).
Unobstrusive host (good thing) who responded to questions very quickly.

Thank you for your kind review Anne, so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that The Stables lived up to expectations! Very best wishes, Emma
This is a very comfortable and attractive cottage set in the back of a large, gated estate. The cottage is near the main house but set in a way that gives total privacy. The location near Sissinghurst village is ideal for local walking and there are many nearby attractions. The host was attentive and gracious and very helpful without being intrusive. The cottage is very comfortable and well-equiped. We enjoyed our stay very much and would return in the future. Note it would be difficult to stay in this area without a car.
Emma created a beautiful welcoming space to stay. The apple and banana muffins, were are lovely surprise and delicious to eat. It is a tranquil location with good amenities a short drive away. One of the reason we selected The Stables was there were toys and books available for our two year old to play with. Would stay there again!

It was lovely to meet you both and I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and the flowers we left for you. The walk to Sissinghurst is muddy this year after such a wet spring and just about drying out now. Do come again one day.
Best wishes,
Emma & Gareth
We recently sold our house and needed a base for a couple of weeks so we booked the stables but ended up staying on longer as it was so perfect for us and our two dogs! After a stressful few days moving house we turned up at the stables and immediately felt at home!
Emma was the perfect host & I can’t recommend her beautiful property enough!
A recommander +++.
Very comfortable. A few areas need some maintanance.
Overall a nice place to stay.

Thank you for staying at ‘The Stables’. I’m sorry that there were some maintenance issues, could you please send me a message through VRBO highlighting which areas and I can get them sorted. Thank you so much. Emma
We loved our stay in the Stables, it’s in a great location for day trips out to Sissinghurst Castle & Gardens, Rye, Battle, Hastings, Tunbridge Wells, Leeds Castle and Canterbury; the itinerary for our week.
The cottage is comfortable and spacious for our family of three and has some lovely touches to make it a home from home. We also made full use of the lovely garden and bbq during our stay.
We really enjoyed the space, the amenities, setting and privacy, the nice welcoming touches (fresh bread, nibbles, drinks, and music), and helpful hosts. It was a great place to spend a week and we've left very refreshed!
Lovely comfortable well equipped property in a great spot. Our daughter loved the kids mezzanine and all the toys. The host couldn’t have been more helpful. The only downside was the weather but it was February.
Privacy is prima gewaarborgd.
Thank you for your kind review, and thank you for the lovely plant, it makes a change from all my boring vegetables! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, please come again one day...

Brigit, Thank you for your review, I’m so glad that you enjoyed your stay and that you found ‘The Stables’ cosy.
Lovely rural and rustic, but comfortable, accommodation with good kitchen facilities for simple meals (there is no microwave). It is about 3 mins drive to Sissinghurst Castle and about 10 mins drive to the historic town of Cranbrook which is worth a look, particularly the wind mill. For those that like gardens it is also close to Great Dixter.
Emma recommended The Milk Room Restaurant which was very good and just up the road. There is a small village shop opposite the Milk Room with some meats, veg, fruit and other packaged food.
Emma was delightful, friendly and very helpful. We would highly recommend this property for a relaxed country stay.

Perfect little hideaway in the heart of Kent
The converted stable building provides a cosy home away from home. It's interior is
tastefully decorated and a very successful combination of modern/contemporary and nostalgic/period styles. All the family was always looking forward to returning to our nice little holiday home and enjoy a long, hot bath, a relaxing game in the living room, or enjoying a film in the TV lounge.
Emma and Garret, the owners, are very welcoming and always eager to provide help, support, and tipps about what to do in the area. Canterbury is also less than an hour away.
Sissinghurst is a nice little village, and the location is ideal to reach all corners of Kent between London and the coast, plus parts of East Sussex.
Actually about the only downside is that at some point it's over and you have to leave again. We're certainly planning to come back one time!

About the host
Hosted by Emma Jordan
We are an active family who split our time between our love of the countryside and our love of the sea. We enjoy sharing our fantastic piece of Kent with our guests, but will leave you in peace unless you need information or help with your trip. We also have two friendly dogs. We love walking, cycling, sailing and skiing, good food and cooking also plays a large part in our lives.
The Stables is really comfy and private and we hope that you will come and stay.

Why they chose this property
The Stables is tucked away up at the top of an electric gated drive but still close to the village of Sissinghurst with it's fantastic pub 'The Milkhouse' which is well known for it's delicious wood fired pizzas, restaurant and child friendly garden. The Stables have a large wildlife friendly garden and is sympathetically decorated with a botanical theme.
Sissinghurst Gardens is a 30 minute walk (past The Milkhouse!) or a 5 minute drive. Go and see the beautiful gardens or just take the dog for a walk around the estate.
Bedgebury Pinetum is a magical playground for children with its many woodland play areas dotted around and family walks in the forest. Or hire some mountain bikes for a woodland trail. They also have a Go Ape treetop adventure if you're brave.
What makes this property unique
We are 10 minutes drive to Staplehurst train station the train takes 45 minutes into London Charing Cross, 30 minutes drive to the port of Dover and 45 minutes drive to Gatwick airport. We are surrounded with woodlands, fields and orchards and many National Trust and English Heritage properties.
