Magnificent House
I have rented several houses and this is by far my favorite. We loved everything about it - from the layout of the house to the furnishings to the property grounds. The view of the mountains is just incredible. I would stay here again and again.

Superior home with everything!
This property has everything you need and what you don't need. The rooms are very expansive and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook or prepare your favorite dishes. What you don't need is all the noise and hustle bustle. This house is so peaceful and quiet and may take city dwellers a night or two to comprehend the peacefulness. Even though the property is well tucked away in the mountains, you can still get to town for all your essentials in a short time. There are just too many perfect things about this house to list here. You would have to experience it yourself. For any seniors that don't want to do stairs, everything even the laundry is right on the main level. The owner is available to answer any questions with just a phone call or email away. We hope to return very soon to this wonderful home. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us Fran.

Over Already ?
My My that week went fast. A little rain in the beginning, rest of the week weather was wonderful. Everything everybody said about the house was true and then some. This fabulous house has everything one could want or need. We came for the view. We stayed for the ambiance. One minor suggestion. The overhead light in the dining room could use a boost in candle power. For playing board games or eating, on overcast days it feels a little like a BEAR DEN🐻. 100% great stay. Thank you for allowing us to share in your special place. Wayne & Jeanne

Better than expected!!!
Y’all..this home was amazing! We booked last-minute and the owners were super communicative when VRBO was experiencing some glitches. And they were available for any questions we had. The views are stunning! The place was spotless..the cleanest property I’ve ever stayed in. The beds were comfortable and the linens soft! The owners considered everything, from baby gates to top-notch toilet paper! The home is about 10-15 minutes from town (groceries) and about 35 minutes from the ski area. I highly recommend and would definitely stay here again when coming to the area! I’m so happy it was available for us to stay in!

The most perfect place!
Loved this gorgeous, immaculate home. Had everything we could ever have thought of. Enjoyed feeding the fish in the pond on the property, and the drive up to the house was spectacular with fall color. Will rent again!

About the host

Host profile image
Mary Jane and Fran, best friends for many years, purchased this home in 2007. Both intend to make Walker-in-the-Hills their permanent home sometime in the future. Dave and Fran who reside in Marietta, GA now own this beautiful home.

Mary Jane, who lives in Titusville, FL, has purchased the charming chalet below with her husband Ron. It can be seen on www.sunrisemountains.com. The Chalet has limited rental availability but is not listed on VRBO.

Why they chose this property

Beautiful, well-maintained home with spectacular unobstructed views from 4200 ft elevation. Temperatures are typically 5-10 degrees cooler on the mountain making it particularly pleasant in the summer months.

Close to many outdoor activities in the surrounding area, yet peaceful, private, and secluded from the hustle and bustle. Only 10 minutes to downtown Waynesville!

What makes this property unique

THE PANORAMIC VIEW! The view toward Waynesville to the east is just spectacular. In the morning. You will be greeted by a beautiful sunrise. In the evening the lights of Waynesville twinkle magically in the distance. Walker-in-the-Hills is a very special community of everything from small cottages to large, beautiful mountain homes. Located on the eastern slopes of Mt. Lyn Lowry, one of highest mountains in the Appalachians, this quiet and peaceful community enjoys a special ambiance loved by all who visit here. Atop Mt. Lyn Lowry sits a lighted cross dedicated by the Reverend Billy Graham. The story of the cross in included in the Guest Handbook.
