QUAINT MOUNTAIN COTTAGE-BREATH TAKING VIEWS-1.5 MILES TO DOWNTOWN WAYNESVILLE

An absolutely charming mountain cottage style home with one of the best views in Haywood County. A single level plan with an open living area highlighted by exposed beams, vaulted ceilings and skylights. A split floor plan with a large ensuite master suite on one side and 2 guests rooms and 2 bathrooms on the opposite side of the house gives everyone privacy.

You will have wonderful long-range views of the Balsams at an elevation of 3000’ yet you are only 1.5 miles from downtown Waynesville with all the shops, galleries and outstanding restaurants. Ingles & Walmart are less than 1.5 miles from the house.

All roads to the house are maintained by the city and the driveway and parking area at the house are paved as well. The Roost is the midpoint between Asheville and the Cherokee Indian Reservation and Harrah’s Casino - each about 30-45 minutes from THE ROOST so great for day trips with major highways easily accessible. Bryson City for white water rafting and tubing as well as riding the Great Smoky Mountain Railway are only 40 minutes from THE ROOST.

An incredibly well equipped kitchen including a gas stove, quartz counter tops and an abundance of dishes and cookware will make family mealtime easy. Games, cards, books, and DVDs are available to enjoy during your stay. There are flat screen HD TVs, Blue Ray players in the living room & master bedroom as well as an Apple TV box in the living room but we doubt you will need them with the covered porch and rockers at sunrise and sunset calling your name. The Wifi connection is strong and many have worked remotely from THE ROOST over our years of ownership.

The Roost

The Roost is the most charming cabin and offers the most spectacular views. The front porch is a fabulous place to begin your day overlooking the mountains and town of Waynesville. Our host was an absolute jewel and was very responsive and organized. I can't say enough. We had a wonderful stay.

A wonderful getaway!

We used the Roost as a central meeting spot for Thanksgiving. It was a wonderful and comfortable environment, with two fantastic and hospitable hosts! The entire family loved the ROOST.

My family and I stayed at this property this month and it was wonderful! The house was exceptionally clean, great location and amazing views. The hosts are so helpful and friendly. My young children loved it as well. Highly recommend and we would love to stay again!

Perfect location, gorgeous view, wonderful house

For a small cottage this house seems much roomier with overall cathedral ceilings and lots of light. The house was clean as a whistle and the owners excellent to work with. Highly recommend this property.

Beautiful Mountain Memories

The Roost is a well-appointed, very attractive, conveniently laid out home surrounded by beautiful flowers and offering a wonderful view of the mountains covered with autumn leaves while we were there. We enjoyed taking short drives to downtown Waynesville as well as to grocery stores and restaurants. We also enjoyed drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Overall a wonderful visit!

Perfect Mountain Getaway

A small group of us were looking for a weekend getaway where we could spend time outdoors and the roost was the perfect place for that. The owners were very communicative and the house was extremely clean/well-maintained. The front porch views are hard to beat and we had a great long weekend stay! We were able to get in a few hikes throughout the weekend as the house is in good proximity to portions of the Smoky Mountain National Park and the Cataloochee Valley.

Warm and Inviting

A beautiful, comfortable and relaxing place! A group of 5 friends spent a wonderful time at this cottage sitting on the porch enjoying the wonderful mountain views, even on the rainy day. The location is convenient to many areas around and in the Blue Ridge Mountains and easily accessible. Great restaurants in Waynesville and lots of shopping. We will definitely return.

Great Stay........

This was a great place to stay, even though we were going through the Covid-19 situation. The owners were staying in contact with us the whole time and helped us reschedule our dates through the pandemic. The Roost was at a great location, being close to downtown and also situated in a location were there were so many great views. It had everything we needed for ourselves and our parents. We didn't need anything but the relaxation and rest. I would highly recommend The Roost as a great place to stay when visiting the Waynesville area.

You cannot beat the view or the host

Susan was amazing in her communication - there were so many moving parts for us - but we really wanted just to feel safe, welcomed, and happy for a weekend in the middle of all the chaos that is 2020. This home was just the tonic we needed. The view is as amazing as pictured, the house is spotless and the hosts are beyond kind. Perfect!

Spectacular mountain home

My husband I traveled to Waynesville to spend Thanksgiving with our son and his family. The ROOST was spectacular! The views were amazing and the house and property were extremely well kept. Susan was the perfect hostess and made sure every detail was attended to. The house was decorated for Christmas and we felt like we were in winter wonderland! We would highly recommend this property - it is beautiful while at the same time comfortable and cozy. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic View!

The view from this home just can't be beat. It is a charming, quaint home that has been updated. Everything you need! We enjoyed our stay at The Roost very much. Owner was very responsive and helpful. Went above and beyond to answer my questions. Home was decorated for Christmas which just added to the charm. We would return!

Perfect Vacation Spot

From the moment I was first contacted by the property manager, Susan, after booking I knew we had selected the perfect vacation rental. Susan made the process easy and was very responsive to communication. When we arrived to the property it was exactly as described in the listing. We spent 7 nights at the property and we were extremely comfortable. The views are amazing from the front porch and the porch swing was my favorite place to be all week. We had plenty of space for 4 adults, 2 children and a toddler. We arrived the day after Christmas and the decorations were still up so we were able to enjoy the holidays a little longer. We will definitely be going back!

Just dreamy

We loved our stay at the Roost! The views were even more beautiful than pictured and the porch was just a wonderful place to pass the time, eat meals, swing, and relax. The home was lovely and clean. The kitchen was well stocked, even had a cake stand for the birthday cake I made for my mom while we were staying there. We were able to enjoy smores over the portable fire pit and our kids were delighted playing croquet in the side yard. Downtown Waynesville is only a few minutes drive away and it is just charming, we even got to attend a craft fair during our stay and came home with some fun pottery. There were some very yummy restaurants downtown too, all of which were found in the welcome book at the Roost. The hosts were so easy to communicate with and wonderful to work with. I would recommend this home to anyone, we loved our stay here and would very happily stay here during any return visits!

Being a native Texan and resident of the Texas Hill Country, I thought we had the market cornered on natural beauty. Boy, was I wrong. This property is the most beautiful inside and out of any of the VRBO’s we’ve stayed in (12 at last count). Totally blown away by the view from the front porch. Had to make myself come inside when it got dark. That view far surpassed any in the park. Thanks for sharing your home with us. I will go back to Texas a more humble person. No more bragging for me, we’ll maybe for a little while….

Ready to go back...

From the moment we drove up the driveway, we were in love with this property. Although the driveway was steep (in the opinion of this girl born in Florida) we got used to it pretty quickly and it was never an issue. The grounds are gorgeous with all the flowers in the garden blooming and the lush trees surrounding the property. Did I mention that view??!! We couldn't have enjoyed that porch more. We all got up earlier than normal for a vacation, just to have coffee and sit on that comfy porch and watch the day begin. The cool temps were amazing along with being entertained by the wildlife. The house was super clean and had everything we needed. Plenty large enough for all 6 of us! Would we return? You bet! Susan and Keith were the best hosts. Ya'll should go!

The property is beautiful, comfortable, clean and extremely welcoming. Fabulous mountain view from the porch. The host was fantastic in her communication, making sure we had all of the pertinent information, made sure everything was going well, and gave us recommendations of restaurants, etc. It could not have been a better experience. Wonderful get away

The Roost Cannot be Beat!

We love The Roost! We found the Roost just as pictured back in March, 2024, so we decided to return in March, 2025 (trip having been delayed due to Hurricane Helene recovery) with a sister and brother-in-law along to enjoy the Roost, Waynesville and the surrounding area. The Roost never disappoints. Owners Keith and Susan offer all the necessities of home plus more! They are also very knowledgeable of the area and always go the extra mile in researching questions for answers. The mountain views from the front porch rockers, swing and table cannot be beat any time of day! The Roost is a slice of heaven!

A Perfect 10

This was an absolutely fabulous stay! Everything was 10/10! Communication with Susan was great. The house was immaculately clean with so many thoughtful touches plus it was decorated for Christmas in such a fun and lovely way, it added so much magic to our trip! We live in Fayetteville, NC and hope to retire to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina in a few more years. We began our search for a vacation home near Asheville so we could start to learn more about the area and be close to family that lives in Asheville...especially the latest addition to our wonderful family... our 3rd granddaughter!

Why they chose this property

Initially, we were looking in the Asheville/Hendersonville area, wanting to be as close to our Asheville family as we could. We spotted THE ROOST on the internet & loved the cottage look and told our real estate agent if she would drive us over we'd buy her lunch since we were certain we would buy in the Asheville area :-) We wanted her to see the style house that really caught our attention. The 30 minute drive over from Asheville was easy, the lovely neighborhood so close to the center of town, and the amazing rock retaining walls leading up to the house were all wonderful. All it took however was for us to step on the porch and look at the view of the Balsam Range of the Smokey Mountains from 3000' to know this house was the perfect home for us- you just know when you get goose bumps it's something special! And we had not even stepped inside the house yet! Once inside, it was all over - we knew this was the one! Not surprising - our guests now say the same thing :-)

So close to downtown yet with killer views! We are so centrally located to enjoy Western North Carolina outdoor activities, festivals and tons of great restaurants. Waynesville is one of the best kept secrets around!
