All in all a nice and quiet place to stay. However, you always have to rely on a car to go sightseeing, go shopping or do other things. But you will be rewarded with a nice apartment.
Perfect base for visiting friends and family in the area
The online photographs didn't do the property justice - it was tastefully furnished and beautifully presented with a modern kitchen and bathroom. For us it was an ideal base to return to after a busy day visiting family and friends. We quickly got used to the narrow roads!

Thank you for your lovely review. We are very lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the Kent Country Side, only 5 miles from M20 & 35 mins from Euro tunnel. The fantastic Leeds Castle is 3 miles by car totally worth a day exploring .
We were booked into Keepers Retreat but were upgraded to pheasant Retreat. Heidi was very helpful and the property was very secluded, our only dislike was the access roads to the property, very small roads but by the end of our trip we got used to them. The property and the area was beautiful and access to surrounding areas and the coast was easy. All in all a very nice property.

Thank you for your kind review & leaving the cabin so neat and tidy. we hope you had a good journey home and hope to see you all again soon. kind regards Heidi & Steve
Nestled amid some really scary narrow roads but lovely view. Felt it was a real shame that we had such a huge hedge blocking such a view! Lovely pub in walking distance. Handy for the big cat sanctuary which is amazing. Be aware no Wi-Fi in the lodges & phone signal is very hit & miss!

Thank you for your review.
Your comments have noted .
We are very lucky to live on a farm in the beautiful Kent Countryside, a secluded part of the country which comes with beautiful green country lanes, we are only 3 miles from A20 & 5 miles from the M20.
The hedging is provided for guest privacy .
Guests are welcome to walk the footpaths to enjoy the views across the farm .
WiFi is something that hopefully will be available later this year, once fibre has been install to area .
With the fast pace of life it’s good just once in a while to switch off laptops / mobile phones and talk to each other and admire the countryside or just read a good book.
Mobile connection is available - 4G for most networks .
We are very lucky to be close to Leeds Castle which is such an amazing place to visit .
The Pepper Box Pub is within walking distance & serves delicious meals daily .
We have a main line station just 3 miles away if you wish to pop to London for the day or 35 mins to the Euro star at ASHFORD to Paris .
Kind regards
Heidi & Steve
This holiday was full of surprises - seeing the sunset through the trees on an evening walk along the lanes, beautifully clear waterways in Canterbury, and, for some reason a TV that turned itself on at 6pm each evening! (Heidi says she'll fix that! 😁)
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in Keepers Retreat. The whole place is comfortable, including the bed, though my husband says it was a bit soft for him. I found it perfect. Also blackout curtains in the bedroom. There's plenty of crockery etc - more generous than many similar places. A good size dining table and coffee table and well-equipped kitchen. And still space for our own folding table and 1000 price jigsaw! We also took some two-person games.
The bathroom and shower were wonderful, with an amazing tap for the basin - like a waterfall!
There's a little patio area at the front, it's visible from the other cabin but screened from the farmhouse.
It's a hilly area, so be prepared if you decide to go walking. We walked a lot as there are many footpaths right from the road the farm is on - no need to go searching in the car for places to walk. Do take a torch (one is provided) if it may get dark while walking locally - no street lamps of course, and v thick tree cover in summer. Be aware the local roads are single track with passing places, so leave plenty of time for journeys when driving or walking - and put your patient head on!
The Keepers Retreat felt spacious and relaxed. Only occasional sounds from farm traffic. Heidi was very friendly and welcoming but left us in peace. Our only disappointment was that we didn't get to eat at the nearby Pepper Box pub because it was closed on Mondays and that was the day we chose to visit! But it would be walking distance - maybe 15 - 20 mins pleasant stroll along country lanes. We hope to visit Keepers Retreat again, then we'll definitely eat at the Pepper Box. Apparently, they do takeaway now too.
With that in mind, the nearest grocery shopping (apart from tiny convenience stores at Kingswood and Headcorn) is a Co-op in the beautiful village of Lenham - just the other side of the M20. Don't expect superstores unless you travel to Maidstone! Or takeaways (except Pepper Box.) Go prepared to cook, have picnics, or spend whole days out, eating before turning homeward.
We had a very relaxing and yet invigorating time at Keepers Retreat. Slowing down, enjoying fresh air, exercise and simple food. I hope you do too.
Tolles Ferienhaus in einer super Lage. Die Aussicht ins Tal ist wunderschön. Heidi ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Herzlichen Dank für den schönen Aufenthalt!

We found it very comfortable and had everything we needed, it was a lovely peaceful location, highly recommended for those who fancy a quiet getaway from everyday life. It was our first wedding anniversary and we arrived to find a card, flowers and wine in the fridge, a lovely touch, thanks Heidi.
