Lovely house just VERY COLD!!!! Wasn’t told about the heating been on 2 separate thermostats. House was cold at night and some people left to go home and get warm. Location was fantastic, house was beautiful. Only downfall was the cold heating, log fire was blocked in chimney and WiFi was very temperamental

A quiet rural location for walks
A tired rental property, needing a bit of updating of mattresses and furniture, but accommodated us all as a family of 8 adults and 5 children well. Had basics and necessary dishwasher and washing machine. Owner supplied wood for wood burning stove as property was cold when we arrived. One side of property was very cold to both eat in (downstairs) and sleep in ( bedroom upstairs). We found the blankets in cupboards on the second day. Could have done with more cloths for cleaning and wiping down surfaces.

Dinhope Barn is a converted half timbered barn in rural Shropshire.
Dinhope Barn is a converted half timbered barn in rural Shropshire. It shares a yard with another newer barn - also for rent. Be careful with sat nav - follow the instructions from the landlady. The location is lovely - with views over the hills from the back. Rooks, pheasants and squirrel will visit the garden. It was at one point split into two and upstairs is still split, so remember which stair your room is up. However, that does mean two living rooms and a dining room mean lots of space for large gatherings. Also there are two TVs (Freesat) . There are two kitchens -though you will use the larger one. There are seven bedrooms, two with en-suite. One is a family room with a double and a single. There others are either doubles or twins. The seventh is small. There are cots in two rooms. The furnishings are comfortable - but not new. The plates and mugs are from Texaco - but there are plenty, unlike many cottages we have rented where there was one setting per bed. There are also sufficient cooking utensils. The cooker is not the best - but adequate. The one in the spare kitchen is better. It could use a better coffee machine. As expected, given the location, the wifi is not the fastest and as there is a single router, it does not quite cover the whole barn. Phone reception is also patchy depending on carrier, better upstairs - unlike the wifi. If you do not want to cook, Craven Arms has pubs, restaurants and take-aways. It also has real butchers and grocers as well as supermarkets. Once we settled in the house warmed through and we did not bother with the fire. But obviously it may be cold on arrival if nobody is in the week before. It is great value for the size of property - but it homely not posh.
