Both properties boast fantastic sea views; Mill Shore Cottage has a cosy living room which features windows on two sides allowing uninterrupted viewing of Mill Shore below – a secluded shingle beach with sandy shallows beyond, offering a unique perspective on the abundant marine life – seals can be spotted easily in the bay, whilst further out whales and dolphins are often sighted. Pennan Lodge again has marvellous views of Pennan itself and the bay beyond. In addition to the amazing marine life, just round the corner and visible from the cottages is Troup Head, a renowned nature reserve featuring the only UK mainland colony of gannets. Next door is Cullykhan Beach, another secluded cove reached by a steep walk down to the shore. Pennan is renowned for its famous phone box as featured in the film ’Local Hero’ but it is a lovely village in its own right, typical of those strung out along this rugged coastline, including Crovie and Gardenstown, reached by steep winding roads to the bottom of the cliffs from which they cling. This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty providing wonderful areas for walking. Shop and restaurant 4 miles, pub ¼ mile.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The views were spectacular and it was in a lovely quiet area, may be too quite for some, but suited us.
Just a minor point, there were no dish cloths, floor cloths or toilet rolls provided. It was a bit inconvenient to discover this on arrival, as there wasn't anywhere local to purchase them. I don't know if they were not provided because of covid or it was just an oversight. We managed fine however and it in no way detracted from a great week in a beautiful location.
I would highly recommend a stay here, a lovely little cottage.

Really great location for touring.
Really great location for touring. Shopping requires a moderate amount of travelling and there are a number of places to dine out. The Lodge is warm, comfortable and peaceful. The owners are helpful and pleasant. I would have no hesitation in recommending Pennan Lodge for a holiday.

It is so peaceful here. As it is a few miles to the nearest shops it pays to remember to get some supplies on the way! The owners are very responsive to queries, and go out of their way to ensure their guests enjoy their stay, without being intrusive. The views are amazing.

Had a fab week at the cottage.
Had a fab week at the cottage. We were lucky with the weather and the views from the cottage were amazing. Photos don't show a cottage behind Pennan lodge, but in saying that, the neighbours didn't impose in any way. Fell in love with the area and can't wait to come back.
