Wonderful place to stay.
Wonderful place to stay. The cottage was lovely and clean, hosts are so friendly and welcoming nothing too much trouble. Area is beautiful and remote whilst being a short drive from shops. It’s a perfect base to explore from with great walks close by and short distance from lots of historic sites. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely a fantastic stay at a beautiful quiet location. Enjoyed the log fire, watching the barn owls and clear sky's at night. The hosts were very helpful, friendly and accommodating.Looking forward to our next stay.

We loved our stay at Rowan Cottage! John and Jill were so lovely and the cottage itself was perfect.
We loved our stay at Rowan Cottage! John and Jill were so lovely and the cottage itself was perfect. There are loads of walks nearby in Kielder Forest and Northumberland National Park. Really dog friendly with an enclosed garden so the dogs were nice and safe. Warm, cosy, comfortable. Nice big kitchen for cooking Christmas dinner. The icing on the cake though was the wildlife cameras! We watched barn owls, mice, birds and more pond critters than I ever knew existed! It was brilliant!

We loved Rowan Cottage and its wonderful views.
We loved Rowan Cottage and its wonderful views. Thank you to Jim and Jill for a warm welcome. Beautiful and very remote, but close to the Border towns.
Lots of wildlife to see, and watching the family of owls was a treat. Extra touches, like the provision of binoculars, a star-gazing telescope and a cupboard of books, were thoughtful additions

From the moment that we arrived at Rowan Cottage, the stresses and strains of the daily grind drifted away and the beauty of our surroundings ensured complete relaxation.
The owners of the cottage, John and Jill , are so welcoming and ensured that the cottage was lovely and warm on our arrival and that we had a nice bottle of wine to welcome us!
We found plenty to do in the surrounding area and, although this does involve some driving, the scenery, travelling in any direction, is breathtaking.
The cottage itself is very well equipt and resourced with books and information regarding the local area if you are in need of any inspiration about where to visit. You can even watch the local owls on the TV and, being a dark sky area, on a clear night the night sky is amazing ( binoculars and a telescope are even provided.) There are also bird feeders in the garden which attract a variety of birds throughout the day.
The fact that this cottage is heated geo-thermally and is powered by solar panels also adds to its appeal. We would recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy a holiday away from it all , in a beautiful part of the world.
