This converted mill sited on the south bank of the River Ouse offers the rare opportunity to stay in riverside York. The large and comfortable living areas enjoy wonderful views over the river and make ‘staying in’ a pleasure as the ever-changing picture of river and city life unfolds. Beautifully furnished and co-ordinated, it lies a few minutes’ walk from the centre of this vibrant, ancient city. Jorvik - Woodsmill Quay at Queen’s Staithe is in the heart of York; it was originally built in the 19th century and used as a timber mill. York has been a key trading port since Roman times and the River Ouse remained tidal until the construction of Naburn Locks in the 18th century. Queen’s Staithe played a prominent role in the commercial development of York and it is still a working quay today. The property will be decorated for those staying during the festive season.

During 2000, Jorvik - Woodsmill Quay was converted into luxury apartments offering all of York’s world-famous sights and activities right on the doorstep. An ideal holiday base for exploring York and touring the North Yorkshire Moors and the Dales. The seaside resorts of Filey, Scarborough and Whitby are within easy driving distance. Shops 50 yards.

We have stayed at Woodsmill Quay before in the Autumn of 2017, so knew what to expect for this Christmas break. Location is ideal for exploring the historic city of York. The apartment itself is very well equipped and very attractive with a stunning view of the river and the opposite bank. Since we stayed here last time, the bed has got a bit weary ( we both suffered back aches every morning), so the mattress might need replacing. We understand these holiday rentals get wear and tear, but it would be a good idea for someone with a screwdriver to go around and tighten things up a bit (the shower door, for example, had become very loose on its top hinge). Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas break and would certainly recommend this apartment.

Jorvik is situated with unrivalled river views so that the ever changing scene is right before your eyes. The property has a dedicated parking space and from arrival to departure we did not move the car. We were greeted when we arrived, and the property has everything you would need for comfort with well equipped kitchen and ample living space all with the river views. The bedroom to the rear was cosy and comfortable. The city is right on your doorstep. All of the main attractions within easy walking distance. We would definitely return to this property should we decide to visit York again.

We were in York for the last week of February last year and met the Beast from the East this year we were greeted with 20 degrees temperatures, We lunched alfresco everyday for the following week sampling a different riverside eaterie each day enjoying full sun and 20 degrees for the full week. Be scared be very very scared!!!
