For a real cottage holiday, look no further than this delightful, quirky terraced cottage, next to the owner’s home and set down a quiet lane in the hamlet of Kirkmichael. Original features such as the traditional open fire in the living room have been preserved to enhance the cosy atmosphere. It still heats the water when the fire is on, but an alternative system is in place for warm sunny days, when instead of curling with a good book by the fire, you can sit outside either on the balcony or in the spacious garden just across the path, and soak up the sun.
The Cateran Trail runs right past the house; a circular walk of forest, farmland and hills of 64 miles, encompassing Blairowrie, Kirkmichael, Glenshee, Glenisla and Alyth. Walk as much or as little as you like in stunning scenery. Pitlochry and Blairgowrie are less than 13 miles from the village, and both have plenty to see and do, including the famous fish ladder and Festival Theatre in Pitlochry. There is a championship golf course in Blairgowrie, not to mention great local produce for which the area is famed. Kirkmichael itself has a good local shop and café, as well as a local pub for dining or enjoying a drink and riverside walks. A real haven for rest and relaxation. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 350 yards.

Lovely little cottage in a beautiful setting.
Lovely little cottage in a beautiful setting. Lots of great walks nearby and fantastic little enclosed garden across a small quiet road. The welcome pack was a nice touch too. Would highly recommend this cottage if you are looking for a peaceful break close to nature.
Its a very good area and close to a lot of popular tourist places of interest, very nice people in the village as well and most of them were very helpful. Kaoglen Log Cabin Restaurant has beautiful food and very lovely owners.

Highly recommended.
Highly recommended. Just back from a week at Larch. The cottage is so cosy and comfortable, and very clean. It has a range of amenities, including wi-fi, dvds and an excellent collection of books. There's a private garden to enjoy too. Parking on the lane directly outside. The owners live just two doors along and are exceptional hosts, really making us feel at home. The village is about 20 mins drive into Pitlochry, but has decent amenities itself, a good pub with very friendly staff and locals, a fab log cabin restaurant just 15 mins walk from the cottage and a community run shop for essentials, which also has a cafe and takeaway option attached, so we enjoyed breakfast and pizzas from there too.
The cottage is adorable. Quirky in a good way with lots of vintage features. The village is quiet and the local shop is well stocked and friendly - the Indian curries they sell are as good as a takeaway. The locals who look after the cottage were so helpful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the mattress in the main bedroom. It's quite soft, lumpy and springy so I ended up sleeping on the cabin bed which is small but was fine for me. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
We had an excellent stay in this lovely little cottage and the owners next door but one were really friendly and helpful and made our stay a great one. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anybody

d
delightful week in larch cottage
it is snug and warm and well equipped with an open fire to play with
cosy if quirky bedrooms and a kitchen that can rustle up a four course meal and candles are provided
village store looked pretty comprehensive although we made the point of bringing our own provisions under the coronavirus situation
there is a tv although you could watch the red squirrels and garden birds instead
small suggestion that a hook on the bathroom door would be useful when showering
highly recommended

Really can't fault this comfortable cottage. We were aware of the size of the second bedroom and it posed no problem for my 21 year old daughter. Very helpful owners.

Spent a very pleasant two weeks at larch cottage- weather was very kind to us and obviously this made a big difference to the overall enjoyment of our stay.
Plenty walks immediately from the door step and suiting all levels of walks/walkers- those who just want a leisurely stroll to absorb the great scenery all around also suiting those who want a longer walk exploring different areas going onto those who are seriously ambitious walkers wishing to spend endless hours on foot- this area wont disappoint.
The cottage was warm and welcoming and our dog ALFIE- MINIATURE PINSCHER - had a great time walking with us and settled in straight away.
From the kitchen window we were entertained by the antics of local squirrels and a variety of small birds who visited daily in order to raid the peanut feeders-great viewing and just a simple pastime that costs only your time and imagination.
Local shop was a community based type business and provided daily essentials - enough to get by on but a bit pricey!
We did however benefit from a fish van which stopped outside the cottage and sold great fresh fish, artisan type breads, eggs and sweet treats.
Nearest areas to have supermarkets are BLAIRGOWRIE OR PITLOCHRY both about 12 miles from KIRKMICHAEL.
A very peaceful area with quite friendly locals KIRKMICHAEL is full of charm and character and would suit a variety of ages.
Our hosts ALEXANDRA and TONY were very friendly and knowledgeable about the immediate area - all social distancing measures were observed and no concerns as to personal safety.
On closing just wanted to say if you are looking for a good peaceful retreat that allows you freedom and chances to recharge your HUMAN BATTERIES then give LARCH COTTAGE your attention - you may well be pleased you did!

Friendly people in the community run village shop selling basic supplies.
Having a few more utensils, ie mixing bowl and frying pan and a descent mirror in bathroom would have made our stay a perfect 10!

A lovely cosy cottage in a stunning location.
A lovely cosy cottage in a stunning location. Ideal for walking and our four legged friends. I have scored a little low for amenities as it is very rural and other than a small shop there aren’t any!! Howevever as an escape from everything it is ideal and we found it charming and romantic.
