Once home to Richard III and known in former times as the ’Windsor of the North’, the ruins of Middleham Castle are certainly worth a visit. Perfect for walkers, cyclists and ramblers too, guests will find an abundance of established public footpaths, cycle paths and bridleways that lead directly from the doorstep of Brandy’s Barn and out through the surrounding fields towards and through the Wensleydale Dales and beyond. Walkers will find themselves on a journey through heather covered grouse moors, open countryside, natural woodland and pretty little Yorkshire villages.
Also the ideal destination for exploring the heart of North Yorkshire, guests will find plenty of excellent local attractions that are popular for all year round. Only 3 miles away from the traditional market town of Leyburn, guests will be able to visit the local chocolate museum, tea pottery and Tennants Auction House, as well as enjoying a browse around the weekly local farmers market.
The Forbidden Corner is also a must see and is situated just 4 miles away. This hidden folly offers twists and turns in all directions making it popular for adults as well as children. The Wensleydale Railway stops in Leyburn and will take guests on a journey through some of the most spectacular scenery of the Yorkshire Dales. Castle Bolton, Jervaulx Abbey and Wensleydale Creamery can also be reached within a very short drive and offer different attractions and events for different tastes. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Brandy’s Barn is a lovely conversion into a place to stay and the owner takes pride in looking after it too†The building as everything you need in there and more†On arrival there we had a lovely welcome pack which is a nice touch by the owner as not every owner does that, The views are stunning†Shops close by, Nice chippy 😀, It’s got the lot And I would highly recommend this for anyone for a stay at Brandy’s

Cosy cottage with beautiful views over open fields towards Leyburn. Shetland ponies and horses in the fields, very nice area, friendly people and dog friendly pubs. Highly recommended and would love to visit again.

Had a fantastic week here with our 6 month old daughter and crazy springer spaniel. Fantastic walks right from the doorstep and within 15-20 mins drive. Highly recommended as a comfortable base for adventures in the dales.

We had a comfortable week in Middleham, there are amenities local to the barn and a co-op about 3 miles away. There are plenty of dog friendly places to visit in the local area.

Cottage location is superb being just to East of the National Park.
Cottage location is superb being just to East of the National Park. Middleham with its horse racing is a vibrant, very friendly community. Short walk from Brandy Barn into Middleham, great for an evening drink having parked up for the day. Cottage is very comfortable, with great views across to Leyburn
