Renovated Lake Cottage: Wineries, Wildlife and Relaxation - Eagles Nest

The renovated cottage is at the top of Cayuga Lake, nestled in the southern tip of Montezuma Wildlife Preserve.
- Stunning Sun Sets
- Right on the Water
- Private dock for fishing and tying up your boat
- Minutes from Wineries
- Teaming with wildlife

This home sits on over 75 feet of lake-frontage with a large deck overlooking the crystal clear water of Cayuga Lake. The cottage has a completely open floor plan with stunning lake views from anywhere in the house. In addition, the home sits on a double lot with a large grass area perfect for volleyball, badminton, or just a place to relax.

Eagles Nest is over 1500 square feet, with an open design that takes advantage of the 180-degree lake views. Knowing the lake is the central focus, this house has a sliding glass door and a wall of windows overlooking the large deck and lake. Eagles Nest is a four-season home designed with comfort in mind with full central air and heat so you can take advantage of this secluded area all year.

Inside, there is space for six people to sleep comfortably. For more than 6, please get in touch with us. Eagles Nest is a classic Cape Cod home with three bedrooms upstairs and one and a half baths down stars, giving our guests lots of privacy. Two bedrooms are furnished with queen beds, and the third has a full-size bed. The bedrooms are connected by a common room upstairs for additional space.

Eagles Nest is well-outfitted for your stay and includes a washer and dryer and a well-equipped kitchen with pots, pans, and utensils to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The home has a 47’ Roku-enabled TV with cable, Wi-Fi, and many board games. Outside, you will enjoy the deck overlooking the lake with plenty of lounge seating, a large gas grill, a 40-foot dock, and a large fire pit on the shore of the lake.

But that is just the beginning. Eagles Nest is adjacent to the Montezuma Wildlife Preserve, so our guests can access some of the region’s most spectacular bird and wildlife viewing from the comfort of the living room. Additionally, the home is just a mile from John Harris Park in Cayuga, a beautifully maintained sand beach with lifeguards and plenty of parking.

And for those who want to venture out, Eagles Nest sits at the top of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail, giving you access to some of the finest wines the Finger Lakes area offers. This is all on top of some of the area’s great attractions, including the Seneca Falls historic sites, four golf courses within 5 miles, Taughannock Falls, Buttermilk Falls, Waterloo Premium Outlets, and the beautiful town of Ithaca. Let’s add the expansive Finger Lakes Trail just south of Ithaca, the Montezuma Wildlife Preserve Trail, Seneca Meadows, and a ton of other hiking and biking trails.

And if that wasn’t enough, the new Del Lago Casino is less than 7 miles from home. You and your family will have an unforgettable vacation with all the things to do.

There are so many things to do in the area it’s hard to list them all. In addition to what is listed in the description, these two guides will help you plan your visit.

Wonderful life
I found this house while searching for our stay to join in the Wonderful Life festival. The house was spotless. The kitchen was fully stocked for all cooking needs. The bedrooms were comfy. I only wish there was at bathroom upstairs with the bedrooms. The downstairs was nice and roomy. The view of the lake was fabulous. We only used the deck for a little bit as it was chilly out. It will be great in the summer. But we certainly enjoyed sitting inside watching the sunsets and the birds. I highly recommend staying here.

The kitchen was well stocked. House was very clean. Beautiful views. However, the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, and bathrooms are downstairs. Not sure it stated that anywhere on the listing. The house is difficult to find in the dark. The number on the house is covered by shrubbery and it’s not on the mail post.

Thank you!
Thank you for opening your property to us so we could enjoy a lovely anniversary weekend. It was so clean and just what we needed. My only wish is that we stayed one more day as our days were filled with things to do and I would have loved more time to sit on the back deck and read next to the lake!

We are a family who loves the water and the Finger Lakes region. This is our vacation home, and we like to open it up to other families as we are not always available to spend time in the area.

Why they chose this property

The apparent time to come is when the weather is nice and hot, but our favorite time of year is during the winter, as it's peaceful and quiet. There is nothing like having a cup of coffee in the living room, looking out on the lake, and seeing hundreds of waterfowl congregating in the water. It's a spectacular sight.
