Dating back to the early 1800s, this detached, stone-built former shippon provides beautifully presented accommodation, and offers plenty of charm and character as well as having all the modern comforts to be expected from a holiday home, including open plan living, underfloor heating, wood burner and Wi-Fi. It is surrounded by unspoilt countryside and is perfect for a couple looking for a comfortable base from which to explore all that the area has to offer.
The property is located in the small hamlet of Whitechapel at the foot of Beacon Fell. Close to Garstang and Longridge, gateway towns to the Forest of Bowland designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is ideal for those who love the great outdoors with some of the best walking and cycling opportunities in Lancashire. Other activities available locally include birdwatching, fishing and golf.
Whilst the property enjoys a quiet rural location, it is very accessible and there are lots to see and do within easy driving distance. Lancashire’s beautiful Ribble Valley is just 14 miles away from the bustling market town of Clitheroe with its hilltop castle and nearby Pendle Hill. The university town of Lancaster, is 17 miles, with its aqueduct and castle. Preston, 10 miles away, has many shops and a mainline train station for London and Glasgow.
For those who enjoy the seaside, the Fylde Coast, with popular resorts including Blackpool with its beach, piers, pleasure beach and famous tower, and Lytham St Annes, is just 25 miles away. The Lake District can be reached in under an hour and the Yorkshire Dales in about one and a half hours, making this the ideal touring base.
