Quiet and relaxing hideaway

We had a 2 week pleasant stay at Macinella. House and equipment is not new, but fit-for-purpose and shows a lot of style and character. Rosella and Stelio have been very nice to us and helpful. The house is best suited as a quiet and relaxing hideaway for a few days. Siena, San Gimignano and Florenz can be well reached by car. Supermarkets within 3km reach.

Beautiful views and very good communication

I rated as a 4 instead of 5 for two reasons. 1) the beds were fine but could have been better. (2) the drive on gravel roads were a bit iffy when it rained. Stelio and the rest of the group were very friendly and responsive and the views were amazing . If you walk across the road you can see San Gimignano which was very cool. Also convenient to many of the towns.

We selected Macinella because we wanted to stay in a place that was quiet and in the countryside. And central to everything Tuscany. From here we went to Lucca, Siena, Florence, Montalcino, and of course San Gimignano. The location and the setting was spectacular. Stelio and Rosella were great hosts. The apartment was comfortable and the patio was gigantic. I gave 5 stars because of the above but you should be sure to ask if they have updated their mattresses or added substantial toppers. That is a real issue. That being said, I know the hosts are very concerned with guest comfort and I’m sure they will address. Also, we expected rustic and country farmhouse and that is what we got. If you do the same, you will enjoy it as much as we did.

Rosella et Stelio sont des hôtes attentionnés et discrets. Le logement a beaucoup de charme et la vue est magnifique depuis la terrasse. La piscine est très agréable au mois d’août après les visites sous le soleil. Si il y avait quelque chose à améliorer ce serait la cuisine qui pourrait être mieux équipée (couteau éplucheur, four, plancha par exemple) mais cela reste un détail. Nous recommandons sans hésitation.

Relaxing, absoluut een aanrader. Heerlijk huis, sfeervol en zeer ruim, Keuken is basic, maar voldoet. Fantastisch zwembad met whirlpool. Strategisch gelegen tussen vele culturele steden en chianti. Magnifiek uitzicht vanaf eigen terras en veranda.Hartveroverende gastheer Stelio en gastvrouw Rosella. Alleen al voor hen wil je terugkomen.

Très agréable et bien placé

Très bon accueil de Stelio qui habite sur place. Il a fait toute la remise en état de la propriété qu'il a acheté en 1982. C'est simple mais super. La terrasse couverte est très agréable. La piscine impeccable. La cuisine est vraiment suffisante pour des vacances.

Si la cuisine est un peu rustique, le gite en lui même est extra, on y apprécie le calme et la discrétion des propriétaires qui restent à l’écoute. La zone géographique du gîte est parfaite pour visiter Florence Sienne et tous les petits villages aux alentours. La piscine est très agréable au retour des ballades. Un gîte à recommander +++

Großzügige Ferienwohnung in wunderschöner Lage mit kleinen Fehlern.

Die Wohnung hat das erfüllt, was wir uns von unserem Toskana Urlaub erhofft hatten: tolle ruhige Lage, ausreichende Größe auch für vier Erwachsene, gute Ausstattung, ein großer Swimmingpool, in dem man richtig schwimmen konnte. Allerdings macht die Wohnanlage den Eindruck, schon bessere Zeiten gesehen zu haben. Im Gegensatz zu einer anderen Bewertung, die Wohnung war bei uns absolut sauber! Aber ein paar Investitionen aus der nicht knappen Miete in die Wohnung wären nicht schlecht (Neue Brauseköpfe für die Dusche, eine funktionierende Toilettenspülung, Austausch der verschlissenen Liegenauflagen…).

Toskana - mal anders!?

Leider nur bedingt zu empfehlen. Sauberkeit hält gewöhnlichen Standards bei Weitem nicht stand. Kleinere Defekte, wie Toilettenspülung, beschädigte Gläser etc. laden nur bedingt zu Wohlfühlen ein. Laut feiernde Gastgeber tragen auch nicht zur toskanischen Ruhe bei.

Heerlijk rustig op de berg

Het gehuurde huis (nr 1)was prachtig gelegen, met magnifiek uitzicht vanuit het grote terras. De privacy was geweldig, mede omdat er tijdens ons verblijf geen andere gasten aanwezig waren. Zwembad en landgoed worden met veel aandacht onderhouden. Restaurants en winkels zijn bereikbaar op een paar autokilometers afstand. Een prachtige plek voor onthaasten en genieten!

Beautiful views and great location

The Macinella 1 villa with amazing views is well situated to visit Florence, Pisa, many surrounding villages and wineries. Use the GPS setting codes as it can be confusing. The owners speak very little English so be prepared to use your translator! The unit we had was a traditional Tuscan home with older Italian furnishings and decor. We stayed for 7 days in the 3 bedroom 3 bath with a large deck and BBQ and access to a beautiful pool. Keep in mind access to the 3rd bathroom is actually outside. Good accommodations for 3 couples. The owner Rossella with Valentina from Casaglia Toscana organized an amazing pasta lesson at the villa. One of the highlights of our trip. Two different types of pasta with 2 different types of sauces, which we enjoyed that night for dinner and a cookbook with our recipes. We also received a basket with the pasta and sauces to bring home with us as we did the cooking lesson the night before we left and made so much food. As we were there for 1 week, we did lots of cooking and a few things that could be improved in the kitchen, equipped with more wine glasses, sharp cutting knives. A small note that some of the cooking pots and dishes needed a bit of scrubbing which was not a big deal. The one thing that should be looked into is the mattresses, very hard and caused quite a few long nights and sore backs the next day. Perhaps a soft topper to sit on top may help however it was just to hard for our group. Thank you to Rossella and Stelio the owners and Valentina for a great week and recipes to try when we are back home.

Super sted, men med mangler.

Vi lejede (og betalte for) en lejlighed med 3 værelser og 3 badeværelser - der var dog kun 2 badeværelser (beskrivelsen siger stadig 3 badeværelser!!). Køkkenfaciliteter var meget gamle og trængte i høj grad til opdatering for at være funktionelt. En virkelig skøn og stor terrasse med fantastisk udsigt, men med dårligt og mangelfuldt møblement (revnede plastikmøbler, stole der i siddehøjde enten var for lave/for høje til spisebord osv. Men til trods for disse "praktiske mangler" er det et dejligt sted med fantastisk beliggenhed, en super dejlig pool og god atmosfære.

Perfect Holiday

We were a party of five adults, stayed in Sunflower 1 for seven days. Excellent holiday,wonderful views. Sunflower 1 had all the facilities we needed for a relaxing holiday. Quiet location. Gloria is a helpful and friendly host.She is a talented artist with examples of her work are in the apartment and around the site. Would recommend Macinella as a base for a Tuscan holiday. Douces vacances à San Gimingnano!

Magnifiques vacances à Macinella dans une atmosphère paisible en plein coeur de la nature : parfait pour admirer les paysages de la Toscane! Notre apartement était spacieux, très agréable et fonctionnel (Sunflower 5) (pour 4 adultes et 3 enfants). Gloria et Stelio sont des hôtes charmants qui ont fait de cet endroit un petit bijoux. Ce sont deux artistes surprenants : elle a décoré avec goût toutes les pièces du lieu et lui a magistralement sculpté le paysage alentours!

Très belle demeure !

Très bonne semaine passée chez Gloria et Stellio. Accueil chaleureux, on s'y sent tout de suite bien. Superbe demeure, authentique,au calme, qui permet de jolies promenades au milieu des oliviers et cyprès. Le Val d'Elsa est une belle région, San Gimignano est tout proche et la voie rapide permet de rejoindre Sienne en 30 mn. Gloria parle français et fait découvrir la propriété et son atelier d'artiste-peintre. Les pièces sont d'ailleurs joliment décorées de ses peintures. Je recommande cet agriturismo rq : ne pas oublier son anti-moustiques

belle maison en toscane

Magnifique domaine très bien situé au milieux des vignobles de Toscane. À proximité des principales villes de Toscane. Les propriétaires sont des gens attentionnés, prévenants et très attentifs à nos besoins. La maison était un peu fraîche en soirée. La literie était propre et les lits confortables. La vue de la terrasse est magnifique et vaut la peine d'y aller à elle seule. Le seul bémol quant à notre séjour est que la maison aurait eu besoin d'un petit coup de nettoyage supplémentaire. Étant probablement les premiers locataires de la saison , je crois que cela s’améliorera durant la saison estival. L'endroit est magnifique, grand et somme toute bien équipée. Je vous recommande ce petit coin de paradis. allez rencontrer Gloria et Stelio!

Nous avons passé un séjou...

Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable à Casaglia. Les propriétaires sont accueillants et le domaine magnifique, en particulier le coin piscine. L'appartement est spacieux et frais, décoré avec originalité, et la terrasse spacieuse et bien équipée. Seuls bémols : la cuisine est vieillotte et peu pratique, et l'une des douches mérite une bonne rénovation. Nous avons fait part de nos remarques à Stelio et Gloria, qui les ont accueillis avec le sourire, nous offrant en prime l'accès à leur "nichoir" pour le dernier soir, qui offre une vue sublime sur les environs.

"Très agréable séjour en Toscane. Idéalement placé pour visiter. Les proprios sont charmants. Note de 4/5 en équipement pour le lave vaisselle manquant. On y retournerait volontiers (même sans lave-vaisselle !) + Piscine au top ! et la maison est vraiment fraiche en plein été, un plus !"
