About this property

Coo Shed @ Dalnoid - private hot-tub, wifi, pet-friendly, mountain views,

As the name suggests, The Coo Shed was once the cow shed at Dalnoid Farm and so we have tastefully added some highland coo accessories, along with contemporary tweeds to transform the cottage into a modern, comfortable holiday cottage.

The Coo Shed is a single storey, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage, with a large open plan kitchen/lounge/dining area and wood-burning stove.

Patio doors lead out to a raised deck, which has amazing mountain views across the Shee Water to Mount Blair. Steps down lead to the enclosed lawned garden with your personal hot-tub.

The cottage enjoys stunning views to the east over the mountains, fields and river - perfect to watch the sunrise, spot the deer on Mount Blair, or the birds and other wildlife.

There are stone floors throughout with underfloor heating.

The cottage sleeps 4: a master bedroom with king-sized bed and en-suite shower room, a twin bedroom and family bathroom with bath and shower over.

For those that need to stay connected, there is free Wi-Fi.

We welcome well-behaved dogs to Dalnoid, and the cottage has a private garden to the back which is fully fenced, as well as further fields that you can access.

The kitchen is well equipped, with a double oven, microwave, fridge freezer, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine. The cupboards are well stocked with plenty of crockery, dishes, pans and utensils.

Vacation
We enjoyed our stay. Lovely views. Hot tub not easy to use. Main bathroom could do with an upgrade and deep clean but overall had a lovely stay and would recommend for a short stay.

Honeymoon Bliss
A great property in a fantastic location. Loved every minute of our stay and our dog Bailey couldn't get enough of the many walks. We will definitely return in the future and we will tell our friends and family all about the fantastic Coo Shed. A fantastic honeymoon in a majestical setting! :-)

About the host

Philip and Sue moved to Glenshee in 2006, after working in London for many years. Philip grew up in Scotland and skied regularly in Glenshee, so knew the area, and Dalnoid specifically.

Why they chose this property

We bought Dalnoid in 2006 after falling in love with the stunning views and have transformed it from derelict buildings, into much sought-after holiday accommodation.

From the first day we visited we knew how we wanted it all to look and how we would operate. After many months of hard work, we opened New Steading Cottage (now The Groose Hoose) in 2008 and have enjoyed welcoming our guests ever since, with many returning year after year.

In 2014 we had the idea to build a 'luxury treehouse' in the field to the North. Build started at the end of 2015 and we opened The Scots Pine Treehouse to our first guests in September 2016. In 2017 we decided to build a 2nd treehouse in a similar style in the South-East of our land, and in October 2018 we opened the Silver Birch Treehouse. Both treehouses are now welcoming couples for short relaxing breaks, whether celebrating honeymoons, anniversaries, significant birthdays, or just a chance to relax.

What makes this property unique

We have had many self-catering holidays ourselves and are so often disappointed when we arrive, that the little things haven't been thought about - whether its a lack of coat hangers in the wardrobes, a desperate lack of suitable equipment in the kitchen, or a feeling that we need to clean the cottage before we can stay in it. So we have tried to ensure that at Dalnoid we've thought of everything:

- our cleaning standards are very high

- we don't charge for extras - so electricity, logs, bedding, towels, hot-tubs, wifi are all included in the price you pay

- you'll find a few treats in the kitchen when you arrive, along with plenty of basics you'd have at home (cling film, tin foil, plastic bags, kitchen roll, salt & pepper, oil etc)

- We've included everything we can think of in the kitchen, including a Scottish porridge spurtle! (but if you think of something else, just make a note in the visitor book and we'll see what we can do)

- there are at least 20 coat hangers in each wardrobe, so you don't have to live out of a suitcase on the floor

- there are soap dispensers at all of the sinks (including the kitchen), as well as a range of toiletries in the bathroom

- there are plenty of tablets for the dishwasher and washing machine and an initial supply of toilet rolls in the bathrooms

- there are a good supply of books and DVDs

- there are sledges (and snow shovels) for the winter months

- there are BBQs, comfy seating and a picnic table in the garden for summer months, as well as the private hot-tub which is available all year round

We try to ensure that our guests arrive and are pleased with what they see and they've not had to pack the kitchen sink to enjoy their holiday.
