Property is located walking distance to the Ocean Grove Hotel which includes a large bistro, casual outdoor dining and a kids playground. Across the road from the beach access is the Cheeky Cow cafe that does excellent coffee and breakfast/brunch. Behind the cafe is a kids playground that is on the way back to the property. A 10 min drive away is the biggest Water Adventure Park in Victoria - a must do for families in the summer! Great shopping is 5 mins drive away on the Terrace in Ocean Grove, and 15 minutes over the bridge in Barwon Heads. Great wineries, restaurants and golf courses are all within 15 minutes drive. Right by the bridge to Barwon Heads is a fantastic kids playground that is by the Barwon River. This part of the river has sandy beaches and no waves. Perfect for younger children and stand-up paddle boarding (SUP). In the warmer months there is a SUP and Kayak hire available at this location. Queenscliffe and Point Lonsdale are a 15 minute drive away - great for lunch, perusing the shops & checking out the sights.
About Fiona Maher
We are a family of 5 from Melbourne. We both work in the IT industry and have 3 kids at primary school. We try to get to the house every so often, which means we experience the house ourselves and try to ensure that everything required is provided. Prior to buying the house I had a pet hate when I arrived at accommodation to 1 bin liner, enough dishwashing liquid for one lot of dishes and no salt and pepper. Who wants to go and buy this sort of stuff when you first arrive at accommodation??? For this reason I supply those tid bits in the cupboard you never think to bring - salt and pepper, glad wrap, tin foil, olive oil, paper towel, plenty of bin liners, washing powder etc. When packing for the house its always good to know I don't have to worry about these types of things.
Fiona Maher purchased this house in 2007
Why Fiona Maher chose Ocean Grove
Growing up my husband and I spent a lot of time in Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads and wanted to share this great location with our own kids. Our 'kids' includes our fur baby - Wilson. He loves the beach walks and gets so excited when we start packing the car that he gets into the car as soon as we open the back and won't get out!! We like the fact our beach house is very relaxing for all of us. No need to stress about the dog or kids wandering out of the driveway (the property is gated), plenty of room for the kids (and dog) to run around and play, and entertainment to keep them busy while we relax. The Ocean Grove beach is beautiful. We spend hours at the beach, then come back for spa and a drink on the deck. We love how the bistro and the cafe are walking distance. It's makes for a more relaxed pace and no deciding who is driving home after dinner.
What makes this house unique
What we love about our house is the spaciousness. It's hard for the photos to do the room sizes justice. We love it's simple design. Little things like the beamed cathedral ceilings in the living areas, and the inset stones in the bathroom floor edging makes it feel different from home. On winter nights sitting on the leather couches and the fire going I seriously struggle to stay awake!!
