Fleetwood, located in Southern Ashe County, is an easy drive from anywhere to just about anywhere! Firefly Fields is a log cabin with easy access to local roads and highways. Everything's on one floor, making this an ideal rental for those of you who want to avoid stairs, or who want to be on the same floor as small children. For extra security, the neighborhood is gated during the night.

You'll enjoy coming home to this cabin after a day of exploring. You'll enter the cabin through the large screened-in porch with a daybed and plenty of cozy seating. It's the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail. But if you prefer to do so with privacy, you'll love the back patio and tiered garden which features a table for al fresco dining.

The vaulted rooms (including the bedrooms!) are light and airy, and we love the stylish decorating with a mix of modern farmhouse and a few well-chosen antiques. An open floor plan means your guests and family will be with the cook while watching television or socializing around the fireplace. Wood floors reflect the natural light.
In cooler weather you'll enjoy the stacked stone gas log fireplace while relaxing, playing games or catching a movie. And before the evening's out, everyone can relax in the hot tub under the stars!
All the bedrooms are nicely sized, and you'll enjoy sleeping in the comfy King-sized bed in the master, or the Queen-sized beds in the other two bedrooms. The bathrooms are updated with beautiful vanities and tile work. The master bath has marble counters and a glamorous walk-in shower. In both bedrooms, there are plenty of places to store your clothes if you are staying for more than a weekend. In case a load of laundry needs to get done, the washer and dryer are conveniently located off the kitchen.

The cabin comes in at just under 1,500 square feet, which is, as Goldilocks said, “Just the right size.” That way, you'll spend your time exploring the area or simply relaxing – isn't that what a visit to the mountains is all about?

Speaking of exploring, with this cabin's location, you are only 15 minutes from the shops, galleries, festivals and restaurants of West Jefferson, and 20 minutes to Boone. It's only 6 minutes to the entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you go North, you can stop in Glendale Springs and visit the frescos at the Episcopalian chapel with unique frescoes by artist Ben Long, or the Trading Post open seasonally, or the café and the delightful Greenhouse Crafts shop. Farther north is the historic Brinegar cabin at Doughton Park, where if you are lucky an interpreter can tell you about the challenges of life in the mountains. Or go South and investigate the trails, shop and park at Moses Cone Manor, with a stop in Blowing Rock while you are in the area. Regardless of which direction you choose, the famous Parkway views will be yours.

From this cabin, it's a 15 minute drive to the village of Todd, unless you slow down the pace to enjoy the scenic countryside and the South Fork of the New River. In Todd, you can have coffee and a home-baked snack served up by Helen and her staff at the Todd Mercantile, rent canoes, kayaks, inner tubes or bicycles from the River Girl Fishing outfitters, or take in one of the concerts in the park. Don't forget to stop at the Todd Island Park and enjoy a stroll through the piece of the New River preserved by donations from the community—there's plenty of parking and a graceful bridge to get onto the island.

Boone also offers plenty to do! You won't run out of places to check out while staying at Firefly Fields cabin. Of course, sitting still in this beautiful home is a perfectly acceptable way to spend your time in the mountains!

We're sorry this cabin is NOT PET FRIENDLY.

Very clean and cozy
The cabin was extremely well maintained and in a nice location. Having donkeys and horses across the street to feed was a nice touch. We will be back.

Absolute perfection!
So clean!! Loved everything about this property. The only negative is the bed in the master bedroom was too firm but could easily be fixed with a matress topper. Overall amazing experience!
