About this property
3BR 2 BA Sunlit 4 Story House In Warren - Great Mountain Views
Family home close to Sugarbush Mountain and Mad River Glen Skiing, on top of mountain with great views of valley, amazing light, and unique whacky Prickly Mountain architecture. This is a very creative, unique space. Great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and especially good for families (with kids). There are 56 acres of shared private trails and local public hiking trails. Blueberry Lake is only 5 minutes away for kayaking and canoeing, and mountain biking. It's a fun house, with a fire pole and balconies, and a mile long sledding hill.
We also have a really great newly renovated guest house, next to the driveway, apart from this house, that can be rented out in addition to the main house, or separately. This is perfect for a couple who want to be separate from a big group, or if someone wants to go to bed early.

Great location and a really unique house. Susan was very quick to respond to questions and the house was very well stocked. Would definitely recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Susan’s property. It’s in a gorgeous location, the house was very neat and clean. Our favorite was waking up to the big window in the master bedroom! Susan was very responsive and a great host! We would love to return!

Spacious, cozy, clean, and comfortable.
My best friend, my dog, and I stayed over memorial weekend and loved it. The beds are very comfortable, the house and bedding are clean and new, good water pressure in the showers, and modern appliances in the kitchen. It's cozy but spacious, with enough beds for 4 couples (1 bed is in the loft that overlooks the master). And while there's no tv, we did not miss it. Check out Hyde Away restaurant for a nice dinner and Shepard's Pub for awesome pot pies.

A Slice of Vermont History
Thank you Susan for being a genial hostess! Susan filled me in on the history of her home, which made our visit even better! We loved this quirky house! I will say the walkway to and from the house and the numerous stairs in the house might make elderly, or those with very young children think twice. For us, it was perfect! The views are amazing! Thank you again, Susan!

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
The house is beautifully nestled in the mountains with stunning views. It is very spacious and has plenty of rooms, which worked perfectly for our larger family. The location is easy to find, but access to the house itself can be a bit challenging—the stairs are very steep and should be noted in the listing description. When we arrived, it seemed the home hadn’t been used for a while. There were quite a few dead flies and spiders on the master bedroom sheets. The upstairs bedroom with the panoramic window has an amazing view, but the glass was so dirty that it blocked much of it—though we did enjoy seeing the stars at night. The heat worked well, but cleanliness was definitely an issue throughout our stay. The kitchen was not well maintained: dishes and cups had stains and needed rewashing, the coffee maker was very dirty and required an overnight soak, and there were no fresh sponges provided. The fridge contained half-used food items like water bottles, butter sticks, and pasta jars, and even had some mold inside. Bathrooms also could have been cleaner, as I found hairs in the shower. On the positive side, the host was very communicative and responsive, and the location is truly wonderful. We understand that mountain homes naturally have some spiders or flies, but the general level of cleanliness fell short of what we expected. With better upkeep and attention to detail, this property could be an excellent stay.

As long time super hosts, with multiple properties and consistent 5 star reviews, we were pretty shocked and upset by this negative review. This guest not only never said a word to us, but in fact requested to stay an extra night. [If a house is this unclean, why request an extra night?] We mistakenly and unknowingly left these people a good review, saying we would rent to them again. We would very much like to rescind that offer and warn other hosts that this guest is not straightforward or honest. We communicated with them throughout their stay, and are confused by this misrepresentation. We take cleanliness very seriously. We normally do a walk-through of the house ourselves before guests arrive, and we routinely check the bathrooms and the kitchen carefully. In this particular case, the prior guest had cancelled their stay prior to this guest arriving so we were not able to do the walk-through. There are brand new sponges right under the kitchen sink. We often leave gifts, and have condiments in the refrigerator for guests, like ketchup and butter and olive oil, etc. Most guests are grateful for this. We do not ever leave moldy food in the fridge. We also very clearly state in the listing description that there are a lot of stairs at this property. Hosts - beware of these guests. We communicated with them throughout their stay and they said nothing and then left this terrible review. Really uncool.
Rented for Senior year Family weekend Norwich University, fabulous house, close to school, had everything we needed, great communication with owners and the beds OMG slept great!!! Would definitely book again, overall 12 outta 10 :)
I am extremely glad I chose this property for my weekend trip! The house was beautiful, much larger than I had anticipated, and clean. The kitchen was well stocked, and the views from the top of the house were breathtaking. My friends and I had a laugh about the “open concept” bathroom in the house, and I will definitely stay here again if I am ever in the area.
Great house, the kids loved the unique architecture. 20 minutes to Sugarbush base lodge. Close enough to town that you can run in and get groceries, but far enough away that you can enjoy the scenery and have some down time.
unique and lovely stay / great glutes workout on the stairs
We had a fabulous stay in this unique property. The master bedroom has a fantastic layout/view and the ground level was cozy and inviting. There were indeed *many* stairs but they all had grippy rubber liners so they felt safe even with our two young kids. Thanks for a great stay!
If you are looking to get away from the noise and experience the calmness of the mountains, then this is your place.
We enjoyed every day of our stay and even the challenges of being in the mountains, and Susan is just fantastic, keeping you updated with great tips.
This was a wonderfully unique home only a short drive away from many beautiful destinations in the Mad River Valley (and beyond!). From the architecture to the art on the walls, this is a one-of-a-kind destination. The hosts were helpful and communicative, and the home was clean. They accommodated our young children and dog graciously, and while the stairs made for a bit of a challenge, our traveling with gates made it such that this didn't hinder our stay in the least. We would definitely recommend this home to others.

About the host
Hosted by Susan Randall
I am a 55 year old mom of two great young adults, ages 21 & 23. I have worked as a private investigator in Vermont for over 27 years, and love people & helping the solve their mysteries! I also enjoy the outdoors, and the ocean. I love hanging out with my awesome kids and husband, hiking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, doing yoga & practicing meditation, and I most especially love traveling. I look forward to sharing my magical home in Warren with fellow travelers!
Why they chose this property
When I first walked into this house I knew I wanted to buy it and live there. I fell in love with the light, the tall windows, walls of glass, quirky balconies, and the fire pole (between the floor with the master bedroom and the floor with the kids' rooms) won my kids over. It is a very creative space, thought-provoking and inspiring. The community also is unique and one-of-a-kind, with its 56 acres of common land, the pond and an inspired, talented group of smart, interesting, loving families. I really loved raising my two spirited kids here.
What makes this property unique
Sleeping in the master bedroom, with a full moon staring down over the whole valley, is a unique experience. I also love the loft space on the 4th floor, perching atop the whole valley. Morning coffee on the balcony is also a must! And the mile-long sledding hill behind the house, on the 'magic meadow' is not to be missed! Sunsets in kayaks on Blueberry Lake are magical. And the local swimming holes are not to be missed!
