About the host

Host profile image
i was born and raised in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.
I spent 25 years of married life in Vaucluse. I sold real estate in Double Bay for 20 years and came to Shoal Bay for holidays. I moved here permanently in 2002, and became carer at home here for 10 years for my elderly mother who lived until 8 weeks off 102 yrs of age...
I have 4 children and 7 grandchildren from 24 to 6 years old.......
I love travelling and spent 3 months overseas in 2018.....7 weeks circumnavigating South America on the Queen Victoria cruise ship after skiing in Canada with the grandchildren .
Covid however put a temporary stop to that.....
I am 81 and have Parkinsons but still walk a lot and play golf , Occasionally I stay in a private area downstairs but very seldom meet the guests respecting your privacy at all times.........

Why they chose this property

I used to come up for holidays and weekends with friends and fell in love with the area.
Decided to buy a holiday house and the first day I looked I fell in love with the original little cottage and particularly where it was just a walk up the hill from the bay, shops and cafes
I bought it that afternoon and have spent the last 30 years doubling the size of the house.
I have built a gazebo in the garden which has a large table that seats 8...... and replaced the balcony folding doors with sliding stackers....This year the outside blinds were replaced..

What makes this property unique

Situated on a quiet street just a short walk down to the beach shops and cafes......I just love it’s indoor outdoor feel with balconies on either side overlooking the park on one side and the hills on the other...Follow the flow of the day from the sun shining into the bedrooms on the east and then after a fun filled day to watch the sunsets with a glass of wine is just magic
It’s a very easy casual house with great cooking facilities, 2 ovens, a gas and electric, 6 gas hot plates plus a large teppanyaki hotplate with a family Webber on the balcony......
With 3 balconies you can always find a little 'me' time away from all the activities......
