Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Book Keepers Cottage which was a lovely cottage with central location and full amenities. Excellent communication from the owners.
The rooms were large and comfortable. It was lovely to have a large table in the kitchen around which we could relax over a leisurely breakfast. The same could be said about the lounge room where we were able to stretch out after the drive from Adelaide. The brochures of local attractions was very useful
Having been to many places both here and in other states, this has been the most outstanding so far!
Great shower, comfy warm beds & every kitchen utensil you could possibly need!
Most importantly - plenty of milk, sugar & coffee to get the day off to a good start!
Hats off to Jenny who has smashed my expectations of what this industry should be striving for waay out the park!

Appreciated the owners contact when booking and during our time in Waikerie.

A home away from home!
We were very impressed with the cottage, we booked the two units as there were four adults and found it had everything we needed and more. A lovely environment and a mix of old world charm and modern convenience.

Why they chose this property
When I first saw this cottage, I was horrified at its dilapidated state. From a busy boarding house back in the day of train travel to a relic that almost needed to be condemned. Some of the floor boards were eaten away with white ants and some of the architraves were held on with sticking tape. One tenant had brought his motor cycle inside and what was left of the carpet, had many oily patches on it. Some one had run into the front fence and it was in taters. There was no garden and the bathrooms still had the old hot water services on cement platforms and metal pedestal basins. The kitchens had many years of grime on them and all appliances needed changing. (Just some of the things) So. After some new floor boards, ceilings, vanities, kitchens, doors, rewiring and plumbing, we eventually finished. Now it is a lovely old home again and can sit high on its foundations overlooking much of the Waikerie Valley. The history and heritage of the old cottage is clearly seen when you walk through the door. It has seen many a traveller over the years and no doubt would have a great tale to tell if only the walls could talk. With a lovely ambience and spacious feel to the cottage, it makes all our guests feel at home.
What makes this property unique
Amalie can give our guests room to spread out and if travelling with others, you can have your own space, even your own kitchen and lounge with separate TVs appliances and entrances. You can leave your car in the grounds and walk to most venues including the river. If you prefer a more cosy space we are happy to rent either unit separately.
